NVIDIA (Nasdaq: NVDA) reported $96.2 billion in revenue for fiscal Q2 2027, up 18% sequentially and 106% year over year. That exceptional historical growth does not, by itself, show that the stock is cheap or that future returns will be strong. To assess NVDA, compare its share price with a clearly defined earnings or cash-flow measure, then weigh the growth investors expect against the company’s operational and market risks.
What is NVDA, and where can investors find NVIDIA’s financial information?
NVDA is NVIDIA Corporation’s ticker symbol on the Nasdaq stock market. NVIDIA’s investor FAQ asks, “I am interested in becoming an investor, how do I get financial information on NVIDIA?” The company directs investors to its Investor Resources FAQs; its filings are available through the SEC’s Form 10-Q for the quarter ended July 26, 2026 and Form 10-K for fiscal 2026.

What do NVIDIA’s latest reported results show?
NVIDIA’s August 26, 2026 results release reported fiscal Q2 2027 revenue of $96.2 billion, up 18% from the preceding quarter and 106% from the year-earlier quarter. These are reported historical results, not a forecast of future growth or stock performance. The release also gives an outlook for fiscal Q3 2027 and cautions that forward-looking statements are subject to risks and uncertainties.

CEO Jensen Huang described the market in the release as follows: “AI has reached its inflection point. It’s doing useful work. Its tokens are productive and profitable. Now, compute is revenue,” (NVIDIA, August 26, 2026). This is management’s characterization of demand and opportunity, not independent evidence that growth will continue or that NVDA shares will deliver a particular return.
Is NVIDIA stock overvalued?
There is no reliable, timestamped share price and explicitly defined earnings basis here from which to calculate a current valuation multiple. A price-to-earnings ratio, for example, depends on both the share price at a stated time and whether the denominator is trailing earnings or an estimate of forward earnings. Without those inputs, labeling NVDA overvalued or undervalued would be unsupported.
Valuation is the market price investors are paying relative to the earnings and cash generation they expect the business to produce. When assessing NVDA, consider:
- Whether the expected growth rate appears durable, rather than relying only on past revenue growth.
- How effectively revenue converts into earnings and cash flow, and whether margins can be sustained.
- How durable NVIDIA’s competitive position is as technology and customer needs change.
- Whether customer concentration, supply constraints, and regulatory or export risks could affect results.
- Whether the share price is reasonable relative to a specified trailing or forward earnings measure and the risks attached to that outlook.
A high-growth company can still be a poor investment at a price that assumes more growth or profitability than it ultimately delivers. Conversely, growth alone does not establish that a stock is expensive; the price and the assumptions embedded in it matter.
Why is NVDA volatile?
A stock can move sharply when investor expectations change. NVIDIA warns in its filings that results below analyst or investor expectations could cause its share price to decline. That means strong reported growth may not prevent a decline if investors expected even stronger results, while results or outlook that exceed expectations can change the market’s view in the other direction.
NVIDIA’s fiscal 2026 Form 10-K also says publicly held equity securities are subject to market-price volatility. That disclosure concerns NVIDIA’s own equity investments; it is not a measured volatility statistic for NVDA shares. No independently sourced volatility statistic for NVDA is established here.

What risks should investors understand?
Competition and changing market needs
NVIDIA says accelerated-computing markets change rapidly, and that failing to meet evolving industry and market needs—or losing ground to competition—may adversely affect its financial results. Its fiscal 2026 Form 10-K states: “Failure to meet the evolving needs of our industry and markets may adversely impact our financial results.” (NVIDIA fiscal 2026 Form 10-K)

Long lead times, uncertain manufacturing capacity, dependence on third-party suppliers, and errors in forecasting demand can create mismatches between supply and customer needs. NVIDIA identifies potential effects on deliveries, costs, inventory, and results in its fiscal 2026 Form 10-K.
Customer concentration
Two direct customers accounted for 22% and 14% of NVIDIA’s total revenue, respectively, in fiscal 2026, according to the company’s Form 10-K. These are fiscal-year figures, not current-quarter proportions; the filing does not establish that the same shares of revenue apply now. Concentration matters because a change in purchasing by a large customer could have an outsized effect on revenue.
Export restrictions and regulation
NVIDIA identifies export controls and other political or regulatory actions as factors that could adversely affect its business and financial results. Their impact can depend on the products, markets, and rules involved; the filing does not make a particular future outcome certain.
Results that fall short of expectations
Investor expectations can become a risk in their own right: if reported results or the outlook fall below analyst or investor expectations, NVIDIA warns that its share price could decline. A company’s operating performance and its stock’s performance are related, but they are not interchangeable.

Quick Recap
How should someone evaluate NVDA before investing?
- Read the latest company reports. Start with NVIDIA’s Investor Resources FAQs and the latest SEC filings to distinguish reported results from management’s forward-looking outlook.
- Check the market data at a specific time. Record the share price and timestamp; a valuation multiple is not meaningful without a dated price.
- Define the earnings basis. State whether the comparison uses trailing earnings or forward estimates, and identify the period and source for that denominator.
- Test the expectations behind the price. Consider growth durability, earnings and cash-flow conversion, margins, competition, customer concentration, supply, and export or regulatory exposure.
- Decide whether the price compensates for the risks. Do not treat historical growth as proof of future returns or as a substitute for a valuation assessment.
