Apple’s current macOS 27 instructions do not document a setting to hide or disable the floating “Write with Siri” button. That means there is no verified System Settings path to give you; avoid assuming that switching off Siri or Apple Intelligence will remove this specific control.
What the floating “Write with Siri” button does
Apple describes Siri AI as a writing feature that can generate a draft, summarize information, and give feedback on text. On Mac, its guide says to select text, move the pointer over the Siri AI icon when it appears, and choose an option or describe what you want. You can also activate Siri and make a request. Apple’s Mac guide does not describe a separate preference for suppressing the icon.

Can you disable the button in macOS 27?
Apple’s reviewed documentation does not provide a toggle or menu path for disabling this floating control. The specific answer to “How do I stop the Write with Siri icon from appearing when I select text?” is that Apple has not documented a verified way to do so in the guide available for macOS 27.

- Check the version and eligibility: Confirm which macOS version your Mac is running and whether your device, language, and region support the feature. Apple’s macOS 27 overview and feature-availability page provide Apple’s current context.
- Look for a version-specific control in Apple’s current help: Consult the Mac User Guide or contact Apple Support and ask specifically whether your macOS version offers a way to suppress the floating Write with Siri icon when text is selected.
- Don’t rely on unrelated switches as a fix: Unless Apple confirms otherwise for your version, disabling Siri or Apple Intelligence is not an established method for hiding this particular button.
