To open SwitchBru’s hidden-browser flow on a Nintendo Switch, set the network’s primary DNS address to 45.55.142.122. This is a third-party workaround, not Nintendo’s official browser feature, and it may not work on every network. For ordinary internet use, Nintendo recommends Automatic DNS for most home networks.

Nintendo’s DNS setup guidance gives Google Public DNS as a manual example and recommends Automatic DNS for most home networks. SwitchBru’s DNS instructions specify 45.55.142.122 as the primary address for its redirect. Changing to Google DNS is not a substitute for the SwitchBru address.

How to enter the SwitchBru address
- On the Switch, open System Settings → Internet → Internet Settings.
- Select the saved Wi-Fi network you want to use, then choose Change Settings.
- Open DNS Settings, select Manual, and enter
45.55.142.122as the primary DNS address. SwitchBru says a secondary address is not necessary. - Save the setting, then connect to the network or run the connection test to trigger the redirect.
Menu wording can differ slightly between Switch generations and saved-network screens; Nintendo’s current help covers Switch 2 and Switch. If you are entering Google’s ordinary DNS example instead, use primary 8.8.8.8 and secondary 8.8.4.4.

What the hidden-browser workaround actually does
SwitchBru says its DNS service returns redirected lookup results for conntest.nintendowifi.net and ctest.cdn.nintendo.net, sending the Switch’s connection test into a captive-portal page. Other domain lookups are resolved through Google DNS or Cloudflare 1.1.1.1, depending on service load, according to the service operator’s explanation.

This is similar to the sign-in pages used by hotel, university, or airline Wi-Fi. Nintendo’s support page says, “It’s not possible to use an Internet browser on the Nintendo Switch.” That describes the normal supported experience; the SwitchBru route uses a limited built-in captive-portal flow rather than installing or launching an official browser app. See Nintendo Support’s browser FAQ.
Limitations and network problems
- It may not work on every connection. SwitchBru warns that a router or ISP may override manually entered DNS, which can prevent the redirect.
- It is not a full browser replacement. Do not count on unrestricted browsing, video playback, or a permanent session. SwitchBru’s live Dashboard says Nintendo automatically closes the browser after 20 minutes and that SwitchBru cannot control that behavior.
- Third-party service terms are not an independent security assessment. SwitchBru says its service is free, provides no warranty, does not collect, store, or retain user data, and is used at the user’s own risk. Those are the operator’s statements, not an independent audit.
Return DNS to normal
To stop using the redirect, go back to that network’s DNS Settings and restore Automatic. Nintendo identifies Automatic as the recommended choice for most home networks. If the SwitchBru browser continues appearing after you change DNS, SwitchBru provides a DNS controller for disabling its redirection.
