NexPhone is a smartphone from Nex Computer marketed to run Android, a Debian Linux desktop environment, and optional Windows 11 on Arm. But the launch coverage’s Q3 2026 shipping estimate has passed, and Nex Computer’s current product page does not give a replacement date. That makes the schedule uncertain; the available information does not confirm a formal delay announcement.
What is NexPhone?
NexPhone is Nex Computer’s attempt to make one handset serve as both a regular Android phone and a computer-like device connected to a larger screen. The company’s current product page describes NexOS multi-boot with Android, Debian Linux, and optional Windows. Those are advertised capabilities, not independently verified results.

The Linux environment is presented as a desktop option, and Nex Computer says Android and Linux can share folders. Windows 11 on Arm is a separate multi-boot choice—not a Windows Phone revival. January 2026 launch coverage reported that switching to Windows requires rebooting; it also described a custom tile-like interface for Windows 11.

In January 2026, Android Authority and Windows Central reported that NexPhone was expected to ship in Q3 2026. That estimate has now passed. Nex Computer’s current product page still offers reservations but, as of October 12, 2026, does not show a revised delivery window.

What changed between the January reports and the current product page?
The listed software version and price differ. The January 2026 reports described Android 16 and a $549 price; Nex Computer’s page currently lists Android 17 and a $599 reservation offer. These are claims from different dates, not one consistent specification. The final shipping configuration and terms should be checked against the manufacturer’s current listing.

How are the three operating systems supposed to work?
Android for phone use
Android is the handset’s everyday mobile environment. The current product page lists Android 17, while the January 2026 coverage listed Android 16; the difference is a reminder that launch reporting can become outdated.
Debian Linux for desktop workflows
Nex Computer describes a Debian environment intended for desktop use and says it can share folders with Android. The company’s description does not establish how well particular desktop applications perform, so buyers should not assume that every Linux app or workflow will work as it would on a conventional PC.

Windows 11 on Arm as an optional boot choice
Windows is optional, not a third system running alongside Android and Linux. January coverage says users must reboot to switch into it. Windows Central also noted that the phone’s tile-like mobile interface is custom software for Windows 11, not the return of Windows Phone or Windows 10 Mobile.
Can NexPhone replace a laptop?
It is designed to support a computer-like setup, but using it at a desk requires an external display and input devices. Nex Computer advertises a five-port USB-C hub as included, and presents the NexDock as an optional laptop-style accessory with a display, keyboard, and trackpad. The company lists NexDock from $229; check its current product information and compatibility before buying.

Whether the phone can replace a laptop depends on the software and workloads that matter to you. No independent benchmark evidence or hands-on testing is established here.
