Yes, Namecheap shared hosting can be worth it for personal sites and modest projects if the plan’s storage, hosted-domain, and backup limits suit your needs. The tiers differ in ways that matter: Stellar allows three domains and 20 GB of storage, Stellar Plus adds unmetered SSD storage and AutoBackup, while Stellar Business provides 50 GB and a higher inode limit. Check your exact billing term and checkout total before deciding; the listed 100% uptime is a provider guarantee, not a measured result.
Which Namecheap shared-hosting plans are available?
Namecheap’s current shared-hosting comparison lists three plans: Stellar, Stellar Plus, and Stellar Business. The company says these replaced its earlier Value, Professional/Ultimate, and Business SSD plans. The comparison page was updated August 17, 2026. The limits below are vendor-published figures, not independent test results.

How much does Namecheap shared hosting cost?
Namecheap’s comparison lists regular monthly rates of $5.88 for Stellar, $7.88 for Stellar Plus, and $11.88 for Stellar Business. It also lists annual and two-year totals. Those monthly figures are not a substitute for comparing the full cost of the term you plan to buy: promotions, location, currency, and renewal conditions can change the checkout amount. The product page offers monthly, yearly, and bi-yearly billing selections. Verify the live quote and renewal price for your region before paying, and compare like-for-like billing periods.

Which Stellar plan is the best fit?
Stellar for a small number of modest sites
Stellar may be enough if you host up to three domains and can stay within 20 GB of SSD storage. Its key trade-off is backup uncertainty: Namecheap says, “For Stellar customers, internal backups are ideally performed twice a week, though not guaranteed.” Treat that as a provider description, not a recovery commitment; keep your own backups if losing recent changes would be costly.
Stellar Plus for multiple sites or included AutoBackup
Plus is the tier to consider if you need more than three hosted domains or want AutoBackup access through cPanel. “Unmetered” describes its SSD storage, not every resource: the product page lists a 300,000-inode limit. Inodes represent files and directories, so a site with many small files can approach that limit even if its total data is not large.

Stellar Business for more storage and a higher inode allowance
Business lists 50 GB of storage and 600,000 inodes, with unlimited hosted domains and AutoBackup. That is a larger published allowance than the other tiers, but the plan name alone does not establish business-grade performance or make it suitable for every company. Judge it by its actual limits, price, and your recovery and availability requirements.

What do the backup and uptime claims mean?
Namecheap’s shared-hosting page lists a 100% uptime figure for these plans. That is the provider’s published guarantee, not proof that customers will experience no outages. TechRadar’s review, dated May 11, 2026, describes the guarantee as one day of hosting credit per hour of unscheduled downtime, capped at a month of hosting credit, and discusses the threshold for compensation. A service credit is not the same as uninterrupted availability.
The backup distinction is more concrete: Stellar’s internal backups are described as ideally twice weekly but not guaranteed, while Plus and Business list AutoBackup with daily, weekly, and monthly backup access as well as twice-weekly backups. These descriptions do not remove your responsibility to retain copies you can restore. For strict recovery targets, test your own backup and restore process rather than relying only on a plan feature.

What should you check before choosing?
- Full-term and renewal cost: Compare the total for the billing period you want, then check the renewal quote in your checkout flow.
- Storage and file count: Match your current site size and likely growth to the storage allowance and inode ceiling, especially if your site contains many small files.
- Hosted domains: Stellar lists three; Plus and Business list unlimited hosted domains.
- Backup and recovery: Confirm which backup access is included and maintain an independent copy if recovery matters.
- Data-center location: TechRadar describes US, UK, and Netherlands options and notes a location surcharge on some plans. Availability and cost may vary, so confirm them in the live cart.
- Performance needs: Shared-hosting features do not guarantee a particular speed under load. If your site is high-traffic, runs a demanding application, or is business-critical, compare more powerful or managed hosting rather than treating a listed uptime guarantee as a performance result.
TechRadar’s review includes its own testing; those results are not measurements made for this article and should not be read as a promise of performance for every customer.
