Neither controller is the better choice for every PS5 player. Choose the Nacon Revolution 5 Pro for Hall-effect sticks and triggers, four rear buttons and hardware customization. Choose the Sony DualSense Edge if you want PS5 games’ native haptics and adaptive triggers, Sony’s on-console configuration features, and replaceable stick modules. The biggest trade-off is that the Nacon’s vibration motors do not work in dedicated PS5 games, and it has neither haptics nor adaptive triggers.
At a glance: which controller fits your priorities?
| What matters most | Better fit | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Hall-effect sticks and triggers | Nacon Revolution 5 Pro | Nacon lists Hall-effect technology for both sticks and triggers. Its claim that this eliminates stick drift is a manufacturer claim, not a guarantee that the whole controller cannot fail. |
| PS5-native haptics and adaptive triggers | DualSense Edge | It retains the DualSense feedback features; the Nacon does not include them. |
| More rear buttons | Nacon Revolution 5 Pro | It has four rear shortcut buttons, compared with two on the Edge. |
| Replaceable stick modules | DualSense Edge | Sony’s controller supports replaceable stick modules. Replacement does not guarantee drift will never return. |
| On-console configuration | DualSense Edge | GamesRadar describes its profiles and remapping as integrated with PS5; deeper Nacon customization uses a companion application. |
| Longer stated battery life | Nacon, with an important qualification | Nacon claims “10 hours or more depending on the power settings.” The available Edge comparison describes its battery life as shorter than a standard DualSense, not in a controlled head-to-head test. |
| Controller layout | Personal preference | The Nacon has an asymmetric stick layout and broader chassis noted by GamesRadar; the Edge uses the symmetric DualSense-style layout. |
What you give up with the Nacon on PS5
The Revolution 5 Pro’s most important compromise is its PS5-game feedback. Nacon says the controller has no haptic feedback or adaptive triggers, and its vibration works with PC and PS4 games, not dedicated PS5 games. If you rely on a game’s nuanced haptics or trigger resistance, the Edge is the more complete match for the PS5 experience.

There is also a wireless detail worth checking before you buy: the Nacon connects to the console through its dedicated receiver or in wired mode. It does not connect to the console over Bluetooth. Bluetooth is for pairing audio devices, not ordinary wireless PS5 play. Nacon says the included receiver is specific to the controller and cannot be replaced with another dongle. Its support FAQ says a replacement receiver would be available for purchase “soon,” but that statement is undated, so check current availability if a replacement matters to you. Nacon’s support FAQ also says macros are not supported.
Why choose the Nacon Revolution 5 Pro?
Hall-effect sticks and triggers
Nacon lists magnetic Hall-effect technology for the sticks and triggers, along with trigger blockers. Hall-effect sensing is the defining feature for players who want to prioritize that stick and trigger technology. Nacon markets it as eliminating stick drift; treat that as the manufacturer’s claim rather than a promise that every possible fault is prevented. See Nacon’s product page for its feature list.
#1 Best Overall
Four rear buttons and hardware options
The Nacon offers four rear shortcut buttons, two more than the Edge. It also lists interchangeable weights and stick options, plus four saved profiles per platform. More buttons do not automatically mean a more comfortable or useful layout: consider whether you want four rear inputs and whether the controller’s shape and asymmetric stick placement suit your hands.
Battery and compatibility details
Nacon’s support FAQ claims “10 hours or more depending on the power settings.” This is a manufacturer estimate, not a measured comparison with the Edge. Nacon says the controller works with PS5, PS4 and PC, but not Mac. Its product page describes the customization application as available for PC and Mac; application availability should not be confused with controller compatibility on Mac.

Why choose the DualSense Edge?
Native DualSense feedback
The Edge retains the PS5’s DualSense haptics and adaptive triggers. If those features are part of why you play on PS5, that distinction may matter more than the Nacon’s extra rear buttons or Hall-effect components. Sony’s DualSense Edge product page is the primary reference for the controller and its accessories.

GamesRadar’s PS5 controller buying guide describes configurable profiles, remappable controls, trigger stops, two rear buttons and replaceable stick modules. The modules make the Edge serviceable in a way that matters to owners who prefer to swap a stick unit rather than replace the controller. They do not guarantee that drift will never recur.

- HALL EFFECT MAGNETIC TECHNOLOGY: Joysticks and triggers benefit from greatly enhanced precision and durability through magnetic effect, preventing "joystick drift".
- INSTANT ADJUSTABLE TRIGGERS: With precision micro-switch components for ultra-reactive gameplay. Plus, four vibration motors - two in the handles and two in the triggers.
- HIGH PERFORMANCE PC MODE: Ultra-low latency reduced to 1ms with wired connection and 2ms with wireless connection, Gyroscope function to simulate a joystick or the D-pad. Mapping of PC keyboard keys to controller buttons.
- EXTENSIVE PHYSICAL CUSTOMIZATION: With a 4-way and 6-way D-pad, 3 sets of weights, 3 sets of joystick heads (concave, convex, high-dome), 2 sets of joystick rings (medium, large), a storage case, and more than 60 customization combinations.
- ADVANCED SOFTWARE CUSTOMIZATIONS VIA LCD SCREEN: Easy and intuitive customization, mapping programming, and audio source mixing right on the controller.
Battery and layout
GamesRadar characterizes Edge battery life as shorter than the standard DualSense. That is a relative assessment, not a controlled runtime comparison against the Nacon. The Edge also follows the symmetric DualSense-style stick layout, while the Nacon is asymmetric; the more comfortable arrangement depends on your preference and hand fit.
How to make the choice
- Decide whether PS5 feedback is essential. If you want haptics and adaptive triggers in PS5 games, choose the DualSense Edge.
- Decide whether Hall-effect components or replaceable modules matter more. Choose the Nacon for Hall-effect sticks and triggers; choose the Edge if replaceable stick modules are your priority.
- Count the rear inputs you actually want. The Nacon has four rear shortcut buttons and the Edge has two. Consider placement and comfort, not just the count.
- Check your connection preference. The Nacon uses its dedicated receiver or a cable for console play; do not expect Bluetooth-to-console wireless.
- Choose the layout you prefer. The Nacon is asymmetric; the Edge uses the familiar symmetric DualSense arrangement.
What reviews add—and what they do not settle
The Loadout’s March 29, 2024 review praised the Nacon’s comfort, textured grips, customization, modularity, battery life and Hall-effect technology, while criticizing its back-button design and missing PS5 features. Those are one reviewer’s judgments, not universal findings about ergonomics. Read The Loadout review.

Verdict by player type
- Choose the Nacon Revolution 5 Pro if Hall-effect sticks and triggers, four rear buttons, adjustable hardware options or Nacon’s conditional battery claim are your priorities—and you can live without PS5-game vibration, haptics and adaptive triggers.
- Choose the DualSense Edge if you want native DualSense feedback, PS5-integrated configuration and replaceable stick modules, and two rear buttons are enough.
- Do not choose on battery claims alone. The available figures describe different things and do not establish a direct runtime winner.
