The English Muratec MFX-2550 User’s Guide is a 129-page manual for the plain-paper digital fax/copier/printer/scanner. The archived edition is identified as DC4-90440-60 and OMMFX2550 and was printed in February 2010. Read it online or download it from the archived manual page. Before following any procedure, check the machine label: the MFX-2550 is not the MFX-2570, MFX-2590 or another Muratec model.

The ManualsDir listing presents the English User’s Guide page by page and includes a download control: Muratec MFX-2550 User Manual. It is an archival repository rather than a demonstrated, currently maintained Muratec support portal, so retain a local copy and verify the cover, language and regional edition.

Which MFX-2550 manual do you need?
| Guide | Use it for |
|---|---|
| User’s Guide | Everyday operation, paper and original loading, copying, scanning, faxing, printing, registration, routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting. The archived English edition is 129 pages. |
| Administrator’s Guide | Device management, defaults, lists, maintenance administration, OfficeBridge, browser settings, network and installation problems, power-failure behavior and deeper troubleshooting. The separate guide is 175 pages: Administrator’s Guide PDF. |
| Printer Guide | Windows, network and local printer installation, drivers, utilities and system requirements. See the separate listing at Muratec QuadAccess MFX-2550 Printer Guide. |
| Scanner and Fax Guide | Detailed scan and fax setup and operation, including initial configuration. See the Scanner and Fax Guide listing. |
The Administrator’s Guide says its screenshots use a standard MFX-2550 unless noted and that installed options can change the screens. A menu that differs from a screenshot is therefore not automatically a fault.

Safe setup sequence
- Confirm that the equipment label says MFX-2550 and identify the regional manual and installed options.
- Put the machine on a stable surface with the ventilation clearance specified in the guide.
- Install toner and the drum cartridge only when commissioning the machine or replacing a cartridge, following the guide’s handling instructions.
- Load approved, dry paper into the cassette or bypass tray.
- Connect power. Connect a LAN cable for network printing or scanning, and a modular telephone cable for faxing.
- Set the language, date, time and network parameters from the connection and main-settings section.
- Print or inspect a settings/status report if the machine provides one.
- Test copying, printing, scanning to the intended destination and faxing as separate functions.
The available documentation does not establish universal default IP addresses, administrator passwords or driver steps. Use the instructions for the machine’s region and configuration rather than assuming modern network defaults.
Common operations
Paper and originals
Use the Chapter 1 procedures for cassette or bypass-tray loading and for choosing the ADF versus the document glass. Confirm the paper size and tray setting; damp, unsuitable or incorrectly loaded media is a common cause of jams and poor output.
Copying and duplex copying
Start with Chapter 2’s basic-copy procedure, then select the duplex option for two-sided output. For marks that repeat on every copy, inspect the document glass, ADF glass, platen cover and ADF rollers before assuming the print engine is defective.
Scanning
Chapter 2 covers scan-to-email, shared-PC-folder, FTP and USB-memory workflows. Destination registration is in Chapter 3. Folder permissions, FTP credentials and mail-server settings are configuration issues; use the Administrator’s or Scanner and Fax Guide when the destination itself is not accepted.

Faxing
For a failed transmission, verify the telephone cable is in the correct port, confirm dial tone and the destination number, and check date/time and fax setup. Separate transmission failures from reception failures. Detailed initial fax configuration belongs in the Scanner and Fax Guide. Compatibility with VoIP, PBX or fax-over-IP services is installation-specific and is not guaranteed by this 2010 documentation.
Printing
Basic printing is in Chapter 2. Driver installation, utilities and operating-system requirements are covered by the separate Printer Guide. Historical references to Linux or Mac support do not prove compatibility with current 2026 releases.
Toner and drum replacement
Use Chapter 4 and match every consumable to the exact MFX-2550 model, regional configuration and cartridge type. Do not substitute a part solely because it fits another MFX family model.

Symptom-first troubleshooting
Paper or document jams
- Use the separate document-feeder and paper-jam procedures in Chapter 5.
- Remove sheets only along the documented path; check feed and exit areas and look for torn scraps.
- Close every cover fully, then confirm paper size and tray settings before retrying.
Faint, smudged, streaked or blank output
The Administrator’s Guide lists damp or unsuitable paper, contrast settings, dirty print-head or drum-charge components, depleted toner, a worn drum, dirty document glass and dirty ADF rollers as possible causes. Try suitable dry paper and the correct contrast, clean the specified components, and replace toner or the drum when the guide indicates it. A mark on originals but not internal test pages points toward the glass or ADF path.

Network, scan and OfficeBridge failures
- Check the physical LAN link and cable.
- Verify the machine’s IP and other network settings.
- Separate printer-driver installation from machine connectivity.
- For scan-to-folder, check the destination path and account permissions.
- For FTP or email, verify the destination configuration and credentials.
- Use the Administrator’s Guide for OfficeBridge and browser-access problems.
Do not treat the machine’s historical network features as equivalent to modern secure-by-default equipment.
Fax failures
Check the telephone connection, dial tone, number and date/time. Determine whether the problem is sending or receiving, then follow the detailed fax configuration guidance rather than repeatedly retrying an unverified phone-system setup.

Muratec (Murata Machinery) describes the MFX-2550 as a monochrome A4 workgroup multifunction device. The brochure lists printing, copying, scanning, faxing, network connectivity, USB support, duplex printing, an 80-sheet document feeder, a 500-sheet cassette and a 50-sheet bypass tray: MFX-2570/MFX-2550 product brochure.

| Item | Documented detail | Qualification |

| Document feeder | 80 sheets | Brochure listing for the MFX-2550 |
| Paper cassette | 500 sheets | Brochure capacity |
| Bypass tray | 50 sheets | Brochure capacity |
| Processing speed | 24 pages per minute in one brochure section; 25 pages per minute in ENERGY STAR material | Regional and source discrepancy; do not use one figure as universal. ENERGY STAR listing: image equipment product list |
The MFX-2570 is a related model, not a drop-in manual match. Muratec’s brochure distinguishes it chiefly by an 80-sheet duplex single-pass feeder and internal shift sorting, while the MFX-2550 is listed with an 80-sheet document feeder.
Quick Recap
Compatibility and service limits
- Regional editions can differ in fax, regulatory, language and paper-size details.
- Menus and screens can change with installed options.
- A 2010 driver guide cannot guarantee support for current Windows or macOS versions.
- Historical security features should not be assumed to meet present enterprise-security standards.
- A manual cannot repair a failed fuser, worn rollers, defective drum, damaged ADF or unavailable service part.
- The archived warranty language may not apply to a used machine or present-day purchaser.
When normal instructions do not fix the problem
- Stop the job and record the exact alarm or error message.
- Remove documents or paper only along the documented path and check for scraps.
- Close all covers. Power-cycle only when the guide permits it and no active job or fax is at risk.
- Inspect a settings/status report if available, then test copy, print, scan and fax independently.
- Move network, OfficeBridge and management issues to the Administrator’s Guide.
- For persistent mechanical, electrical or safety faults, contact an authorized Muratec dealer or qualified service provider. The Administrator’s Guide directs unresolved problems to authorized dealer support.
