There is no documented quality winner between MiniMax H3 and Kling 3.0. Choose based on the controls your project needs: H3 documents first- and last-frame image modes and multimodal references; Kling Video 3.0 Omni’s launch announcement emphasizes shot-by-shot storyboard direction. If image fidelity or motion quality will decide, test both with the same image and prompt.
What matters most for an image-to-video project?
The clearest distinction in the available official material is workflow, not output quality. MiniMax H3 specifies several ways to condition a video on images, including first-frame and first-and-last-frame modes. Its separate Ref2VA workflow accepts image, video, and audio references within stated limits. Kuaishou’s announcement for Kling Video 3.0 Omni highlights controls for planning individual storyboard shots.

Those descriptions do not establish that one model produces more realistic motion, preserves identity better, or follows prompts more reliably. They also do not establish that every Kling 3.0 variant has Omni’s storyboard controls. Confirm the exact model and mode available in the service you intend to use.

| Project need | What official material documents | How to use that information |
|---|---|---|
| Set the start or end image | H3 FL2VA supports no image, a first image, a last image, or both first and last images. The Kling announcement describes Omni storyboards but does not provide a complete image-input specification. MiniMax’s H3 specification; Kuaishou’s Kling 3.0 announcement. | If endpoint control is essential, verify that the specific Kling mode you can access supports the same setup before comparing it directly with H3. |
| Use multiple kinds of references | H3 Ref2VA documents image, video, audio, and mixed reference inputs, with limits described below. The available Kling announcement does not establish equivalent limits. MiniMax’s H3 specification. | H3 is a documented option when a brief depends on combining reference media. Confirm that your hosted or API workflow exposes Ref2VA. |
| Direct a sequence of shots | Kling Video 3.0 Omni’s announcement describes per-shot controls for duration, shot size, perspective, narrative content, and camera movement. Kuaishou’s Kling 3.0 announcement. | Consider Omni when shot planning is central to the brief, and check that this variant and workflow are available to you. |
| Generate sound with the video | MiniMax describes H3 as producing native stereo audio and publishes 32 kHz stereo output. The available material does not establish a like-for-like Kling audio comparison. MiniMax’s H3 specification; MiniMax’s H3 announcement. | Treat H3 audio as a documented capability, not evidence that its sound is superior or that Kling lacks audio. |
| Set resolution or clip length | MiniMax publishes a 4–15-second range and says H3 can generate up to 2K. MiniMax’s H3 specification; MiniMax’s H3 announcement. | Check which combinations of duration, resolution, and other settings your interface or API permits; the published maxima do not prove they can all be used together. |
| Pick the stronger visual result | No controlled side-by-side quality test is established by the official material cited here. | Run a matched test and judge the results against your actual brief. |
What H3’s published specifications say
MiniMax’s official H3 materials describe a 4–15-second output range at 24 frames per second, with 32 kHz stereo audio. Listed aspect ratios are 21:9, 16:9, 4:3, 1:1, 3:4, and 9:16. The specification says the shorter side defaults to 768 pixels and identifies H3-Regenerate-2K for 2K generation. These are vendor-published capabilities, not independent measurements of image or audio quality. MiniMax H3 specification.

H3 reference-input limits
For Ref2VA, MiniMax states a maximum of nine images, up to three video clips with a combined duration of 15 seconds, and up to three audio clips with a combined duration of 15 seconds. Audio cannot be the only input; it must be accompanied by image or video. Mixed reference inputs are limited to 12 files total. These limits apply to the documented H3 workflow; check the interface or API you use for its current supported options. MiniMax H3 specification.
H3’s two image-related modes
FL2VA is the endpoint-oriented workflow: it can use a first image, a last image, both, or neither. Ref2VA is the multimodal-reference workflow. The distinction matters because adding reference media is not the same as specifying the video’s first and final frames. MiniMax describes H3 as a general-purpose omni-modal system; its H3 materials distinguish it from earlier Hailuo model generations. MiniMax H3 specification; MiniMax H3 announcement.

What Kling 3.0’s storyboard description establishes
Kuaishou’s launch announcement describes Kling Video 3.0 Omni as supporting a multi-shot storyboard workflow. For each shot, users can specify duration, shot size, perspective, narrative content, and camera movement. This is a meaningful distinction for projects organized around planned shots rather than one continuous transformation of a still. It is not evidence that Omni animates a source image better, nor does the announcement information here establish the full image-input settings, resolution, clip limits, audio support, or availability for every Kling 3.0 variant. - Identify the control your brief depends on. For an exact opening or closing image, check endpoint controls. For mixed reference media, check the supported reference types and limits. For a sequence of directed shots, check whether the Kling Video 3.0 Omni storyboard workflow is available in your account.
- Confirm the actual mode and settings. Product families can include distinct models or workflows. Verify the selected variant, image-input behavior, output duration, resolution, and audio options in the service or API you will use.
- Run a matched test if visual quality is decisive. Use the same source image, prompt, aspect ratio, and intended duration where both tools allow it. Compare subject identity, motion plausibility, unwanted artifacts, prompt adherence, and how easy the result is to edit.
- Choose for the deliverable, not the feature list alone. A storyboard control is valuable when shot-level direction matters; endpoint or mixed-reference controls matter when the brief depends on them. The best fit is the one whose available mode produces an acceptable result with the controls your project requires.
Dates and scope
MiniMax’s H3 launch announcement is dated July 31, 2026, and its open-source announcement is dated August 3, 2026. MiniMax’s local-deployment page includes a four-GPU SGLang serving example; that is an example configuration for local deployment, not a requirement for hosted use. Kuaishou’s official announcement covers the Kling AI 3.0 family, including Video 3.0 and Video 3.0 Omni. The exact announcement date for Kuaishou’s release is not established in the cited material.
