How to unlock fast travel in Story Mode
Progress into Chapter 2 until the camp ledger becomes available after your first debt-collection task for Leopold Strauss. At the ledger, purchase the lodging upgrades in this order:

Ride hands-free without teleporting
For a less hands-on journey, Rockstar Games’ “Red Dead Redemption 2 Quick Tips” (November 5, 2018) advises: “Simply navigate to a main road, set a waypoint on your map and build up some speed before switching to Cinematic Camera to travel hands-free.” This is automated riding along a route, not fast travel. The following instructions and code details are attributed to the unofficial RDR2.org cheat guide, updated August 5, 2026. Cheats apply to Story Mode, not Red Dead Online.

- Save your Story Mode game before activating any cheat.
- Pause the game and open Settings.
- Use the platform’s indicated control to open Cheats.
- Enter the phrase exactly, including its punctuation. The guide says capitalization does not matter.
- Select or toggle the cheat to activate it.
Activating a cheat disables saving and Trophies/Achievements for that session. A code may be entered and saved in the Cheats menu without activating it; according to the guide, the restriction follows activation, so do not toggle a cheat if you want to preserve normal progress and achievement eligibility. Some codes also require a specific newspaper. The guide’s entry lists the relevant prerequisite where applicable.

Story Mode cheats do not work in Red Dead Online
The listed cheat system is for single-player Story Mode. The cheat guide says these codes do not work in Red Dead Online, so do not treat them as an online progression or gameplay option.
