Those are manufacturer figures, not independent test results, so they cannot establish how the hood will feel in a particular kitchen.
What the DA 2450-1 is—and what this review can establish
Miele describes the DA 2450-1 as a household cooker hood for extracting cooking vapours and removing cooking odours. Its installation instructions cover fitting it into a wall unit or chimney unit, or above a breakfast bar or island area. It can be configured for extraction or recirculation, subject to the installation instructions. Miele’s data sheet identifies the figures below as information provided under EU delegated regulations 65/2014 and 66/2014. The sheet does not state its publication year. The efficiency point is useful context when comparing technical data, but it should not be mistaken for the maximum rating: Miele separately lists 590 m³/h as maximum airflow. Comparisons with another hood are meaningful only when the figures use comparable definitions and conditions.
Extraction or recirculation: choose the installation first
Extraction
In extraction mode, cooking air is carried out of the room through ducting. Miele recommends a smooth, approved, non-flammable duct with a cross-section no smaller than the hood’s exhaust connection. Keep the run as short and straight as practical, use wide-radius bends, and make connections airtight and uncompressed. Miele warns that restrictions reduce airflow and increase noise. The manual describes a supplied non-return flap for an extraction installation; it also discusses optional wall or roof vents and an exhaust silencer. Recirculation
Recirculation returns filtered air to the kitchen rather than exhausting it outdoors. Miele lists the DUU 150 and DUU 151 conversion kits for this configuration; each includes a directional unit, aluminium hose, and hose clips. The kit is not supplied and must be purchased separately. Check with Miele or a qualified installer which kit is appropriate for the exact model and proposed cabinet layout before buying.

Check hob clearance and room ventilation before fitting
The required vertical clearance depends on the hob type and, for some gas hobs, its output. Miele gives these minimum distances in the installation instructions:

Some gas-hob configurations are marked “Not possible” in the manual. The appliance maker’s required clearance takes precedence when it is greater than Miele’s minimum. Check both appliance manuals for your exact hob type and output before setting the hood height. Miele also says to centre the hood over the hob for optimum vapour extraction. There is an additional safety issue if extraction operates at the same time as a room-air-dependent heating appliance. Inadequate make-up air can create underpressure and draw harmful gases back into the room. Miele specifies a maximum permissible underpressure of 0.04 mbar (4 Pa) under the conditions described in its instructions. If you are uncertain whether the combination is safe, seek competent professional advice; do not assume a generic ventilation arrangement is suitable for every home.

Filter care and safe cleaning
The hood has a reusable metal grease filter that captures solid particles from cooking vapours. Miele says to clean it regularly: a heavily soiled filter hinders extraction and creates a fire hazard. Disconnect the appliance from power before maintenance. Do not use a steam cleaner, or abrasive cleaners and products containing soda, acid, chloride, or solvents on the housing and controls. - It may suit your plans if you need a built-in hood, can meet the clearance for your hob, and have a viable extraction route or are prepared to obtain the compatible recirculation kit.
- Check carefully before committing if your kitchen has a long or restrictive duct route, a gas hob with output-dependent clearance requirements, or a room-air-dependent heating appliance operating alongside extraction.
- Do not treat the published figures as a real-kitchen performance promise. Installation, duct restrictions, and room conditions matter, and no independent test is established here.
The available manufacturer documentation establishes the model’s published specifications, configuration options, installation cautions, and maintenance requirements.
