When can you preorder METRO 2039?
Pre-orders opened in 2026 through the announced digital storefronts and participating physical retailers. The principal launch date is February 4, 2027. Publisher information places launch on February 5 in some territories, specifically calling out Asia, Australia and New Zealand. Your local storefront’s date and time should therefore take priority over a countdown shown for another region.

A preorder reserves the edition sold by the selected store; it does not, by itself, establish a guaranteed play window before launch. The published announcements describe launch-day editions and the preorder bonus, but do not announce a beta, review period, early-access window or preload schedule.

Which platforms support METRO 2039?
The documented launch platforms are:
- PlayStation 5
- Xbox Series X|S
- Steam for PC
- Epic Games Store for PC
PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro
PlayStation Blog describes METRO 2039 as a solo, story-driven first-person shooter. On PS5 and PS5 Pro, the game is described as supporting ray tracing at 60 frames per second in a dedicated Performance Mode. That is a performance-mode description, not a promise that every graphics mode will run at 60fps or that other platforms will use the same settings.
Xbox Series X|S
The Xbox listing identifies METRO 2039 as a single-player title optimized for Xbox Series X|S. The cited listing does not establish an Xbox One version, Smart Delivery behavior, cross-save support or a console-generation upgrade policy.
PC storefronts
PC buyers can choose Steam or Epic Games Store. The two storefronts can have different refund procedures, discount eligibility and product listings, so the account used for purchase determines which terms apply. A PC code-in-box is specified for the physical Deluxe and Collector’s editions; the code is redeemed through the storefront identified by the retailer or publisher.

It is offered digitally and physically across the documented console and PC channels, subject to what the individual store lists in your region.

Digital Deluxe Edition
Digital Deluxe adds the Story Expansion DLC, a digital art book and a digital soundtrack to the game and Specialist Pack. Because the DLC is included in the package, this edition is aimed at players who already expect to buy the expansion rather than those seeking only the launch campaign.
Physical Deluxe Edition
Physical Deluxe combines the console game disc, or a PC code-in-box where offered, with a SteelBook and hardback art book. It also carries the same Story Expansion DLC, digital art book, digital soundtrack and preorder bonus as Digital Deluxe. The physical components make this edition dependent on retailer stock and shipping, unlike a digital purchase.
Collector’s Edition
Collector’s is a physical package sold through selected retailers. Its distinguishing item is a wearable Spartan Helmet replica, while the game, SteelBook, hardback art book, Story Expansion DLC, digital art book, digital soundtrack and Specialist Pack come from the physical Deluxe configuration. Availability can vary by territory and retailer; the publisher’s edition announcement does not guarantee inventory everywhere.

The Specialist Pack is a universal preorder bonus: it is attached to every preorder edition rather than reserved for Deluxe or Collector’s buyers. It contains three blueprints that unlock backpack upgrades earlier than normal progression:
Rank #3
- Sleek 7-in-1 USB-C Hub: Features an HDMI port, two USB-A 3.0 ports, and a USB-C data port, each providing 5Gbps transfer speeds. It also includes a USB-C PD input port for charging up to 100W and dual SD and TF card slots, all in a compact design.
- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)
- Double Up on Efficiency: The two USB-A 3.0 ports and a USB-C port support a fast 5Gbps data rate, significantly boosting your transfer speeds and improving productivity.
- Fast and Reliable 85W Charging: Offers high-capacity, speedy charging for laptops up to 85W, so you spend less time tethered to an outlet and more time being productive.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
- Equipment Specialist Pouch: speeds up crafting of advanced weapons and gear.
- Chemtech Specialist Pouch: supports exploration in radioactive areas with more gas-mask filters and more reliable equipment.
- Munitions Specialist Pouch: focuses on rarer, more powerful ammunition.
Only one of the three backpack upgrades can be equipped at a time. The announcement describes the benefit as an early unlock; it does not say that these upgrades are permanently exclusive to preorder customers. Treat the pack as an earlier progression option, not as three simultaneously active bonuses or proof of a separate campaign.
Is there a PS5, Xbox or PC upgrade path?
Upgrade information is not universal across the four storefront ecosystems. Steam lists a separate METRO 2039 Deluxe Edition Upgrade item as part of its Deluxe offering. That confirms a Steam listing for an upgrade product, but the cited materials do not establish an equivalent Standard-to-Deluxe upgrade purchase for PlayStation, Xbox or Epic Games Store.
If you buy Standard and later decide you want Deluxe content, check the exact product page attached to your account before purchasing again. Look for wording such as an upgrade entitlement, ownership requirement and whether the Story Expansion DLC is included. Do not assume that a Steam upgrade listing automatically applies to a console or Epic purchase.
How preorder refunds and cancellations work
Refund rights depend on where you bought the game. A platform policy controls a digital purchase; a physical preorder is governed by the retailer’s own terms.

Steam
- Before release, Steam’s support policy allows a preorder refund at any time.
- After release, the normal Steam rule applies: request the refund within 14 days of release and keep recorded playtime below two hours.
- Submit the request through Steam Support while signed in to the purchasing account. A refund can return to the original payment method or Steam Wallet according to the available options.
The post-release two-hour test is separate from the more flexible pre-release preorder rule. Launching or playing the game after release can therefore change which policy is evaluated.
PlayStation Store
PlayStation’s cancellation policy depends on when payment was taken and whether downloading or streaming began:
- When payment was made more than 14 days before release, cancellation is generally available before release if the main product has not started downloading or streaming.
- When payment was taken 14 days or less before release, the policy provides a 14-day cancellation window, again subject to its download and streaming conditions.
- Automatic preloading can affect eligibility. If the console begins downloading the main product, check the policy before assuming a cancellation will be accepted.
Because timing and download status matter, review the order’s payment date and disable or avoid automatic download if preserving the pre-release cancellation option is important to you.

For a disc or code bought from a retailer, cancellation, deposits, shipping charges and return deadlines come from that retailer’s terms. Does preordering provide early access or a preload?
No official early-access period or preload date has been announced in the cited launch materials. The Specialist Pack is a gameplay-progression bonus, not an early-play entitlement. A store may later publish a platform-specific preload schedule, but until that appears on the relevant product page or support channel, plan around the announced launch date rather than an assumed advance download or play window.
Prices and preorder discounts
Prices vary by storefront, currency and region. The following figures are documented examples rather than a worldwide price list:
| Store or offer | Documented price or discount | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Xbox US listing, Standard | $69.99 | US storefront listing in 2026; price can change before launch. |
| Xbox US listing, Deluxe | $99.99 | US storefront listing in 2026; price can change before launch. |
| Steam Digital Deluxe preorder | 10% off | Advertised for customers who own a qualifying digital Metro game. |
| Epic Games Store Digital Deluxe preorder | 10% off | Advertised for eligible owners of Metro Last Light Redux, Metro 2033 Redux, Metro Exodus or Metro Exodus Gold Edition on Epic Games Store. |
The discounts are eligibility-based offers, not a promise that every account receives the same price. Confirm the final total, tax, currency and qualifying ownership on the checkout screen. A discount also does not change the edition’s refund rules or create an upgrade entitlement.

- You want to keep cancellation and platform choices as simple as possible.
Choose Digital Deluxe when
- You already expect to play the Story Expansion DLC.
- You prefer immediate digital delivery and do not need physical display items.
- Your storefront shows an eligible ownership discount that makes Deluxe better value for your plans.
Choose Physical Deluxe when
- You collect boxed games, SteelBooks or printed art books.
- You want the expansion included while retaining a physical console package or PC code-in-box.
- You are comfortable with retailer stock, shipping and that retailer’s cancellation terms.
Choose Collector’s when
- The wearable Spartan Helmet replica is the primary reason to buy a premium package.
- You can verify stock and return conditions with the selected retailer.
- You specifically want the physical Deluxe contents rather than a digital-only license.
Preorder checklist
- Confirm that your device is PS5, Xbox Series X|S or a supported PC storefront account; no older-console release is established in the cited listings.
- Check whether your territory uses the February 4 or February 5, 2027 launch date.
- Compare Standard, Digital Deluxe, Physical Deluxe and Collector’s contents instead of assuming every premium item is digital.
- Verify that the Specialist Pack appears in the order summary; it is intended for all preorder editions.
- Check whether you own a qualifying Metro title for the Steam or Epic discount.
- Read the chosen storefront’s cancellation terms before downloading, streaming or enabling automatic preload.
- Do not pay a premium solely for early access or preload unless the store later publishes a specific entitlement, because neither is currently promised.
What is confirmed and what remains unannounced?
Confirmed details include the preorder opening, the February 4, 2027 principal launch date, the February 5 date in some territories, four launch platforms, three edition tiers, the Specialist Pack, the Deluxe contents and the Collector’s helmet replica. Platform-specific refund rules and the documented Steam upgrade listing are also available.
Not established in the cited announcements are a universal console upgrade path, cross-save or cross-buy support, a beta, early access, a preload date, a worldwide price, or guaranteed stock for the physical Collector’s Edition. Treat any store page or later platform notice as the authority for those items when it is published.
