A Marvel Rivals update can look stalled for several different reasons: the network may be unstable, the installation drive may be nearly full, a local file may be damaged, security software may block the executable, or the launcher may be fetching optional high-definition texture data. The percentage shown by the client does not identify the cause by itself. The fastest fix is to match the symptom to the check that can actually explain it.

Start with this five-minute triage
- Pause the update and test the connection. Open another service in the same device and confirm that pages or downloads load normally. If you are on Wi-Fi, move closer to the access point or temporarily use a wired connection. Avoid repeatedly cancelling and restarting while the connection is dropping; each restart can leave you waiting through the same failed transfer.
- Check free space on the installation drive. Look at the drive that contains Marvel Rivals, not only the drive where the launcher itself is installed. Leave room for the downloaded data and the temporary files used while it is unpacked. Epic’s official FAQ specifically directs players to ensure sufficient storage on the installation drive.
- Confirm the device meets the minimum requirements. NetEase’s release FAQ says that download or installation problems should first be checked against a stable network connection and the game’s minimum device requirements. On PC, also check that the operating system, graphics hardware and driver are supported for the current build.
- Fully restart the client. Pause the patch, exit the launcher, and close any remaining launcher or game process in the operating system’s task manager. Reopen the same client and retry once. A clean restart is more useful than repeatedly pressing Resume while an old process is still holding a file.
- Record what happens. Note the platform, the percentage where it stops, the exact error text, available disk space, and whether the client reports corrupted files. Those details determine the next step and make a support request much easier to diagnose.
Use the symptom to choose the right fix

Fix a stuck Marvel Rivals download on PC
1. Test and stabilize the network
A launcher can show a stationary percentage when the connection is technically connected but repeatedly timing out. Stop other large downloads and streams, disconnect any VPN or proxy temporarily, and retry on a stable connection. If a different network completes the patch, the original router, ISP path or local wireless link is the likely cause. Do not interpret one successful web page as proof that a multi-gigabyte game transfer is healthy; a patch needs a sustained connection for a much longer period.
When the transfer starts but repeatedly falls back to zero, leave the client open long enough to determine whether it is making intermittent progress. Capture the time, percentage and any error code before changing settings. That record helps support distinguish a slow transfer from a failed one.

2. Make room on the installation drive
Open your operating system’s storage view and inspect the exact drive or partition selected for Marvel Rivals. Delete or move unneeded files, empty the recycle bin, and keep additional headroom for temporary patch files. A drive can have enough space for the final game but still fail while the launcher downloads, decompresses and replaces files. The Epic FAQ’s instruction is specific: sufficient storage is required on the installation drive.
If the launcher lets you choose a library location, verify that the library path has not changed to a smaller drive. Do not start a second installation on another drive unless you are deliberately moving the game; duplicate folders can consume the space you are trying to recover.
3. Restart the launcher cleanly
Pause the update, exit the launcher from its own menu, and then check the task manager for a launcher or Marvel Rivals process that is still running. End only the process you recognize, reopen the client, and sign in again if requested. Retry the patch once. If the same stop returns at exactly the same point, proceed to verification rather than repeating restarts indefinitely.
4. Verify the installed files
Marvel Rivals’ official integrity guide documents verification for both Steam and Epic. Use the platform that owns your installation and let the process reach 100%:
- Steam: In your Library, open Marvel Rivals’ Properties, choose the Installed Files section, and select Verify integrity of game files.
- Epic Games Store: Open your Library, use the three-dot menu for Marvel Rivals, choose Manage, and select Verify.
Verification compares local data with the platform’s manifest. Missing or corrupted files are downloaded again after the check. The download can therefore appear to start over; that is repair data, not proof that the verification failed. Keep the client open until it reports completion, then launch the game once before applying another patch.
5. Update the graphics driver
On PC, install the current driver offered by your graphics-card manufacturer for your model and operating system, then restart the computer. A driver update will not repair a full disk or an interrupted network transfer, but it can address installation or launch failures that occur after the files have been downloaded. If the patch completes but the game fails immediately afterward, the driver check becomes more relevant than another integrity scan.
6. Check antivirus and firewall interference
Security software can quarantine or block the game’s executable while the launcher is updating it. The official FAQs identify Marvel-Win64-Shipping.exe and the game’s storage path as items that may need to be whitelisted. Add an exclusion only in the security product you trust, use the exact executable and installation directory, and remove the exclusion if it does not solve the problem. Never disable protection permanently or whitelist an unrelated folder.

After changing an exclusion, restart the launcher and run verification again. If a security product has already quarantined a file, restore it only when the detection clearly refers to the official installation and then verify the files so the platform can replace anything damaged.
When the progress bar is stuck at 99%
Ninety-nine percent is not always a network failure. The client may be unpacking archives, replacing files or committing data to a slow drive. Watch the drive-activity indicator and the launcher’s disk-usage field if it provides one. Continued disk activity means the process may still be working; allow it time before force-closing the client.
Install or move the game to an SSD when storage is the bottleneck
The Epic FAQ recommends an SSD for prolonged loading at 99%. An SSD can reduce the time needed to read, unpack and write many small files, especially when the existing hard disk is busy or fragmented. It is a targeted remedy for slow final-stage loading, not a guaranteed cure for a server-side failure, a blocked executable, corrupted files or an unavailable service.
Before moving the installation, confirm that the destination has enough free space and that your launcher supports moving the existing library. If you instead install a fresh copy, avoid deleting the original until the new installation launches successfully and your settings or screenshots have been backed up.
Distinguish patch data from optional HD textures
A May 2026 Marvel Rivals announcement explains that the launcher can download optional HD texture content. After the HD texture download completes, the button changes back to Play. A large transfer that follows an apparently finished update may therefore be texture content rather than the base patch. Check the label or download description in the client before cancelling it.
If you only need to play, allow the required game update to finish and decide separately whether the optional texture package is worth its storage and bandwidth. If the client never returns to Play after the labelled HD download completes, restart the launcher and run the platform’s file verification.
Steam, Epic and other supported platforms
The official FAQ lists Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation, Xbox and the official Loading Bay launcher as distribution platforms. Use the repair function belonging to the platform that installed the game; a verification action in one client cannot repair a separate installation managed by another.

A local problem normally follows one device, one installation or one network. A service problem is more plausible when several people report the same failure at the same time, or when the patch fails identically on different clients and platforms. The official material available for this guide does not confirm a current October 2026 outage or a patch-specific server incident. That means you should not assume an outage merely because a progress bar is slow.
- If only one PC fails, prioritize storage, verification, drivers and security exclusions.
- If the same account fails on two networks but other users can update, collect logs and contact support.
- If Steam, Epic, console and Loading Bay users all fail at the same stage, stop reinstalling repeatedly and ask official support whether the service or patch is affected.
When to stop troubleshooting and contact support
Escalate after a stable-network retry, a free-space check, a clean launcher restart and a completed integrity check have not changed the result. Also escalate immediately when the client reports an account, entitlement or server error that local file repair cannot address.
The official support route is the Marvel Rivals Support bot through the official Discord. Steam also lists [email protected] as official support. Include:
- Platform and launcher (Steam, Epic, PlayStation, Xbox or Loading Bay).
- Country or region, operating system and graphics-driver version where relevant.
- Exact percentage at which the transfer stops and whether it is 0%, a fixed value or 99%.
- Available free space on the installation drive and whether it is an SSD or hard disk.
- Whether verification found and replaced files.
- Whether the client was downloading the base update or labelled HD texture content.
- The exact error message, screenshots and the time the failure occurred.
Do not send passwords, payment details or security codes. Support can work faster from the technical facts above than from a description such as “the patch is broken.”

A compact decision path
- No movement at 0%: stabilize the connection, check the installation drive and restart the launcher.
- Stops at the same percentage: complete platform verification, then check driver and antivirus interference.
- Appears frozen at 99%: look for disk activity, allow time for unpacking, check for HD texture content and consider an SSD if the drive is slow.
- Verification repairs files but the next update fails: recheck free space and security exclusions, then retry once.
- Same failure on multiple clients or platforms: preserve the error details and contact official support rather than cycling through reinstalls.
Preventing the next failed patch
- Keep a meaningful amount of free space on the game library drive instead of filling it to its displayed capacity.
- Allow updates to finish before shutting down the computer or console.
- Keep graphics drivers current on PC.
- Review antivirus exclusions after major game or launcher changes; an old path may no longer match the current installation.
- Know whether optional HD textures are enabled so a large post-patch download is not mistaken for a failed base update.
- When reporting a problem, preserve the platform, percentage, storage type and verification result; those details identify the correct branch of the fix.
What the official guidance establishes
NetEase’s official release FAQ gives the baseline instruction: “If you encounter issues while downloading or installing the game, please check that your network connection is stable and that your device meets the minimum requirements.” The accompanying official guidance adds sufficient installation-drive storage, file verification for Steam and Epic, updated PC graphics drivers, and whitelisting of Marvel-Win64-Shipping.exe and the game-storage path when antivirus interference is suspected. The HD-texture announcement explains why a large download can continue after the main update appears complete.
Those checks cover the common local causes without claiming that every failure has the same remedy. An SSD can improve a slow 99% final stage, but it cannot repair corrupted files or resolve a service incident. When the evidence points beyond the device, the Support bot or the official support email is the appropriate next step.
