1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteIf your Marshall Major V will not connect, first remove any 3.5 mm audio cable, then put the headphones into Bluetooth pairing mode and select MAJOR V on your device. If they connect to the wrong device or audio drops intermittently, check nearby devices already paired with the headphones before restarting them. Marshall does not identify one universal cause for Bluetooth dropouts, so work through these steps in order rather than assuming one setting will fix every case.
Get the Major V into pairing mode
- Unplug the 3.5 mm cable. Marshall says to disconnect a wired lead before troubleshooting Bluetooth pairing.
- Turn the headphones off.
- Press and hold the control knob. Watch the LED: it changes from off to white and then dark blue. Dark blue indicates pairing mode.
- Check the source device. Make sure Bluetooth is enabled and the device is not already connected to another Bluetooth device.
- Select MAJOR V from the source device’s Bluetooth list. If prompted, follow the device’s pairing instructions.
If you need to pair another device while the headphones are already on, double-press the control knob until the LED slowly pulses blue, then select Major V from that device’s Bluetooth list. Marshall’s pairing instructions and connection guide describe these procedures.

Check whether the headphones reconnected to another device
Major V can connect to two devices at once and remembers up to 10 previously paired devices. When a remembered device is in range, the headphones try to reconnect to the last connected one. If Major V appears unavailable or the audio goes to an unexpected device, check the Bluetooth status of other nearby devices you have paired with the headphones. Disconnect the unintended connection or turn Bluetooth off on that device, then connect from the device you want to use.
Restart the headphones if behavior is erratic
Hold the control knob for 10 seconds to restart the headphones. This is a restart, not the factory-reset procedure below. Marshall lists it as a step for erratic behavior; it is worth trying before changing app settings or resetting the headphones. Marshall’s erratic-behavior guidance gives the same instruction.

Check firmware with or without the Marshall Bluetooth app
The Marshall Bluetooth app is not required for basic listening or Bluetooth pairing. It adds personal EQ controls, M-button customization, and software-update management. If the connection remains erratic after restarting, connect Major V in the app and follow its instructions if a firmware update is offered. Marshall’s guidance recommends checking for updates and, if necessary, considering a factory reset for a software error; it does not establish that an update fixes every dropout.
Factory-reset only after the less disruptive steps fail
A factory reset restores factory settings, deletes user settings, and means you will need to pair the headphones again. Before starting, remove MAJOR V (and MAJOR V [LE], if listed) from the source device’s Bluetooth list and from the Marshall Bluetooth app.

The manufacturer guidance covers pairing mode, remembered-device connections, restart, firmware checking, and factory reset, but does not identify one universal cause or provide an operating-system-specific diagnosis for intermittent audio. If the problem persists after those steps, note which source device you use, whether the problem happens with more than one paired device, and whether it also occurs after a fresh pairing. That information can help narrow the issue when you consult Marshall’s Major V support resources.

For listening while troubleshooting, Marshall documents a 3.5 mm wired connection as an alternative. It provides a way to listen without Bluetooth, not a repair for the wireless connection. See Marshall’s connection guide.
