To get a Madagascar IP address while abroad, connect through a VPN that currently has an active exit location in Madagascar, then check the public IP it assigns with an independent lookup. Availability is not settled: one provider advertises a Madagascar option, but IPinfo’s country summary reports no VPN-provider exit nodes there. Confirm the location directly with a provider before paying, and verify the assigned address promptly.
What a Madagascar IP address does—and does not—change
A Madagascar IP address is a public internet address that geolocation services associate with Madagascar. When you use a VPN, websites generally see the VPN’s exit IP rather than your ordinary public IP. The goal is therefore to use an exit address that lookup services classify as Malagasy; this does not change your device’s GPS location.

IP geolocation and VPN detection are database classifications, not guarantees of identity or access. IPinfo’s Madagascar address examples include both “VPN Detected” and “VPN Not Detected” labels, and different lookup databases can disagree. A Madagascar country label alone does not guarantee that a website, bank, or streaming service will accept the connection. Services may also consider account country, payment method, GPS, device signals, or other checks; compatibility with any specific service is not established here.

Current consumer VPN availability is unclear. CometVPN advertises a Madagascar location and describes selecting its Madagascar server in the app, but this is a provider claim rather than independent confirmation that a working exit is available. By contrast, IPinfo’s Madagascar country summary reports no VPN-provider exit nodes. IPinfo also lists 587,113 IP addresses geolocated in Madagascar; that is a network inventory figure, not a count of VPN servers. The summary is useful evidence, but it is not a complete census of every provider or possible virtual location.

Before subscribing, ask the provider to confirm that its Madagascar exit is active and available to your account and device. A country appearing on a location list is not enough if the provider cannot confirm the location is currently usable. Do not rely on an advertised location label alone.
How to get and check a Malagasy IP address abroad
- Confirm the location before paying. Check the provider’s current server or location list and contact support to ask whether a Madagascar exit is active. Review the provider’s own pricing, renewal, privacy, and refund terms; no specific refund terms are established here.
- Connect to Madagascar in the VPN app. Install the provider’s app, sign in, open its location list, and select Madagascar if it is offered. The advertised workflow is to choose the Madagascar location in the app, but available controls vary by provider and app version.
- Look up the assigned public IP independently. After connecting, use a current IP lookup such as IPinfo’s Madagascar country page or an address lookup for the IP shown by your device or VPN app. Check both the reported country and network attribution; a country result alone does not prove where the exit is physically hosted.
- Reconnect if the result is inconsistent. Disconnect and reconnect to the Madagascar location, then check the newly assigned public IP. If the result still shows another country or the attribution is unclear, contact the provider and ask it to investigate the specific assigned address. If it cannot resolve the issue, consider requesting a refund under its stated policy, if applicable.
Lookup results can differ because databases classify addresses independently and may update at different times. A VPN-detection label is also not definitive proof that every service will identify or block the connection.

Consumer VPN access is not the same as a business VPN
A consumer VPN with a Madagascar exit may be relevant to someone abroad who wants a Malagasy public IP, but only if that exit currently works and lookup services associate it with Madagascar. Yas Madagascar describes secure interconnection among business sites in Madagascar over its backbone, internet connections, or mobile networks. That business site-to-site offering does not establish a consumer remote-access endpoint for an individual abroad.

Around 2022, the regional organization CIPESA reported that VPN use in Madagascar was legal. The same report described a Telma contract caveat: its terms allowed VPN use for professional accounts and reserved the right to suspend or cancel a contract for other uses. This is dated secondary reporting, not a definitive statement of 2026 law or a rule for every carrier. Check current local law and the terms that apply to your own carrier.

The U.S. State Department’s 2024 investment statement discusses cross-border business data and localization policy; it does not establish consumer VPN legality or resolve carrier contract terms. Likewise, ARTEC’s index includes a 2026 telecommunications decree, but the index entry alone does not show that the decree concerns consumer VPN use.
