Dated deal coverage also reported different configurations and prices: Tom’s Guide’s September 2026 roundup put an M2 MacBook Air at $699 and said Apple-refurbished MacBooks started at $599. The starting price does not identify a specific model. In October 2026, Tom’s Guide reported a promotional $1,099 price for a new 13-inch MacBook Air with an M5 chip. Is a refurbished MacBook Air worth considering?
It can be, if the exact configuration meets your needs and the savings justify buying a product that is not new. The sub-$700 examples above are refurbished listings; the price alone does not tell you the item’s wear, battery condition, included warranty, return eligibility or who is responsible for the sale. No single set of terms is established across the listings.
#1 Best Overall
- Stunning 13.3-inch Retina display
- Touch ID and the latest Apple-designed keyboard
- Dual-core 8th-generation Intel Core i5 processor with Intel UHD Graphics 617
- Fast SSD storage and 8GB memory
- Stereo speakers with wider stereo sound
Do not treat refurbished, open-box and pre-owned as interchangeable labels. Read the condition description on the item page and confirm whether the seller or retailer certifies the refurbishment. If battery health or cycle information is not disclosed, ask whether it is available rather than assuming a particular battery condition.
What to verify before you buy
- Open the exact product page. Confirm the model, screen size, chip generation, memory and storage. A headline price or search snippet may not describe the item you intend to purchase.
- Confirm condition and seller. Check whether the unit is refurbished, open-box or pre-owned, who sells it, and whether any certification applies to that specific listing.
- Check the full cost and availability. Confirm the current price, stock in your market and any charges that change the checkout total. A search result or dated deal article is not proof of a live offer.
- Read warranty and return terms. Find the coverage period, who provides it, the return window and any restrictions before ordering. The available listing information does not establish uniform terms.
- Review battery details where disclosed. Look for battery-health or cycle information, and contact the seller if it matters to your decision but is absent.
Why the date matters
Prices and stock can shift, and a deal reported in a September or October roundup is evidence of what was reported at that time—not of what a retailer is selling now. The exact-title search did not identify a reliable matching promotion. Before describing any sub-$700 MacBook as available, attach the retailer, exact configuration, condition, price and date checked to that offer.
