Lullaby does not require an NPC. In Fallen Village’s Marketplace, approach the empty crib to start the quest, collect the Weathered Key outside the house’s back door, use it on the house across the river to take the Toy from the bed, then return to the original crib and interact with it again. If the quest appears stuck, follow the journal’s exact wording and verify each required pickup and interaction in that order.
What actually advances Lullaby
PowerPyx documents Lullaby as a four-step side quest in Fallen Village > Marketplace. Its trigger chain uses one environmental object and two quest items rather than a conversation with a named character.

The reward for completing the final crib interaction is Tomorrow’s Promise Amber. Reaching a landmark, opening a door, or standing near the crib is not a substitute for the required pickup or interaction.

Exact walkthrough, from start to finish
1. Start at the empty crib
- Travel to the Marketplace Lantern in Fallen Village.
- From the Lantern, move toward the water and the flames.
- Enter the house on that route and find the empty crib.
- Use the interaction prompt on the crib. The quest starts automatically when the crib interaction registers.
The crib is the start point, not an NPC. If your journal still describes the opening objective or points back to the crib, return to this house and deliberately activate the crib rather than merely walking around it.

2. Pick up the Weathered Key
- Leave the crib house through its back door.
- Look on the ground outside, near the enemies.
- Pick up the Weathered Key and confirm that it appears in your inventory before moving on.
The key is a required quest item. The documented route does not place it inside the crib room, and the next house cannot be opened through this sequence until the pickup has registered. If the door across the river remains locked, check this back-door area again instead of searching for a different key or an NPC.
3. Find the locked house and retrieve the Toy
- Return in the direction of the Marketplace Lantern.
- Follow the path back and turn right after the Volunteer.
- Continue to the house on the opposite side of the river.
- Jump across to reach the house.
- Use the Weathered Key on its door.
- Enter and pick up the Toy from the bed.
Unlocking the house only completes the access part of the step. The quest needs the Toy pickup itself. If the journal continues to name the Toy, inspect the bed and activate the pickup prompt; arriving at the building or opening the door is not enough.
4. Place the Toy at the original crib
- Retrace the route to the first house, the one with the empty crib.
- Approach the crib after the Toy is in your inventory.
- Interact with the crib to place the Toy.
This is the completion trigger. The quest does not finish simply because you have obtained the Toy or returned to the first room. When the crib interaction registers, Lullaby completes and grants Tomorrow’s Promise Amber.

Fixes matched to the journal objective
The fastest way to diagnose a stalled quest is to read the current journal text and perform only the missing stage. Use the branch below that matches your wording.
The journal still points to the crib
- Go back to the original house in the Marketplace area.
- Stand close enough for the crib interaction prompt to appear.
- Activate the crib itself. Passing through the room, looking at it, or waiting nearby does not complete the objective.
If the prompt is absent, make sure you are in the first house reached from the Marketplace Lantern toward the water and flames, not the later house across the river.
The journal asks for the Weathered Key
- Exit the crib house through the back door.
- Search the ground immediately outside, around the enemies.
- Pick up the item and check your inventory for the Weathered Key.
Do not proceed on the assumption that the item was collected because you passed over the location. The key pickup must be registered before the locked house can be opened by the documented route.

The journal asks for the Toy, or the door will not open
- Use the landmarks rather than relying on a marker: return toward the Lantern, turn right after the Volunteer, and cross the river by jumping.
- At the house, use the Weathered Key on the door.
- Inside, interact with the bed and take the Toy.
If you are at a locked door and have no key in your inventory, go back to the crib house’s back door and complete the Weathered Key pickup first. If you are inside but the journal has not changed, the Toy pickup at the bed is the missing action.
The journal sends you back after you have the Toy
- Return to the original crib house, not the key-locked house.
- Use the crib interaction to place the Toy.
The final objective is an interaction, so simply entering the room or standing beside the crib leaves the quest unfinished.
What to do when the objective marker is missing
A missing marker does not, by itself, establish that Lullaby is broken. The documented walkthrough supplies reliable landmarks for every stage:

- Start point: Marketplace Lantern, then toward the water and flames, inside the house with the empty crib.

- Toy house: on the other side of the river, after turning right past the Volunteer.
- Finish: the original crib where the quest began.
Use the journal wording to determine which of those landmarks is relevant. A marker can be absent while the quest remains navigable through those locations; the available evidence does not identify marker loss as a Lullaby-specific progression bug.

No named NPC is part of the documented Lullaby sequence. The quest begins at an empty crib and proceeds through the Weathered Key, the locked house, the Toy, and the final crib interaction. The Volunteer is a navigation landmark on the route to the Toy house, not a documented quest giver.
Consequently, searching for a missing quest giver is unlikely to solve a Lullaby objective that points to an item or the crib. Only investigate an NPC-related problem if your journal shows a different objective from the four-step chain above; the documented sequence does not provide an NPC replacement trigger.

Patch information and what it does not prove
The official Steam Demo Hotfix 1.03 announcement lists fixes for a Witch Hunt loading crash, corrupted blood-effect crashes, endless audio loops after certain enemy kills, GPU auto-detection, and performance. It does not name Lullaby or a Lullaby progression blocker.
That means there is no supported basis for promising that Hotfix 1.03 repairs a missing Lullaby objective, absent marker, or unavailable NPC. Apply the quest-stage checks above first. If every documented interaction has been completed but the journal still does not advance, the available announcement does not supply a Lullaby-specific workaround or confirmation of a known fix.
A complete pre-escalation checklist
- Read the current journal objective word for word.
- Confirm that the first crib interaction registered in the Marketplace house.
- Check your inventory for the Weathered Key.
- Verify that the key came from the ground outside the crib house’s back door.
- Use the route past the Volunteer and the river crossing to reach the second house.
- Unlock that house with the Weathered Key.
- Take the Toy from the bed rather than stopping after opening the door.
- Return to the original crib and activate its interaction to place the Toy.
- If the marker is absent, navigate by the landmarks and journal text instead of assuming the quest is corrupted.
- Do not wait for a named NPC; none is required in the documented chain.
Following those checks distinguishes an unregistered interaction from a genuinely unresolved progression problem: each stage has a specific object, location, and action, and completion is awarded only after the final crib interaction.
