The right Liquid Web alternative depends on what you host and how much server management you want. Liquid Web identifies OVHcloud, DigitalOcean, Rackspace, and InMotion Hosting as its closest general parallels, but its wider list also includes cloud infrastructure and managed WordPress specialists. Those are different kinds of services, not nine interchangeable hosts.
Below are nine options drawn from Liquid Web’s comparisons, grouped by likely use. The company’s descriptions are its own, not independent performance rankings. Its alternatives page is a useful starting point for names and comparison criteria, but you should check current plan terms before choosing.

Which providers are most similar to Liquid Web?
Liquid Web’s own alternatives page names four providers as its most similar overall: OVHcloud, DigitalOcean, Rackspace, and InMotion Hosting. That is the company’s characterization, not the result of an independent, like-for-like evaluation. The same page compares other providers by service category, including cloud infrastructure, general hosting, and managed WordPress.

For that reason, the nine providers below are a categorized shortlist, not a ranked list of equivalent replacements. Start with your workload and preferred management model; then compare the specific plans that support it.
9 Liquid Web alternatives, grouped by use
General hosting, VPS, and dedicated-server options
- InMotion Hosting: One of the four providers Liquid Web calls most similar overall. Consider it when you are comparing general hosting or server options; verify that the specific plan matches your resource and support needs.
- OVHcloud: Also named among Liquid Web’s closest overall parallels. Compare its relevant infrastructure or server offering against your required management scope, support, and contract terms.
- DigitalOcean: Another of the four closest parallels named by Liquid Web. It may suit a reader comparing cloud or VPS-style infrastructure, but do not assume it provides the same level of hands-on management as a managed hosting plan.
- Rackspace: The fourth provider in Liquid Web’s closest-overall group. Compare the service and support scope for the workload you need to run rather than relying on the general-provider label.
Cloud infrastructure options
- AWS: Listed by Liquid Web among its cloud comparisons. Assess the exact services and operational responsibilities your application would require.
- Microsoft Azure: Also included in Liquid Web’s cloud comparisons. Compare the relevant service, support arrangement, and operating requirements rather than treating the platform as a single hosting plan.
Managed WordPress options
- SiteGround: Appears among Liquid Web’s hosting and managed WordPress comparison options. Check the WordPress plan’s resource limits, support, and ecommerce fit if relevant.
- WP Engine: A managed WordPress comparison option, not a general-purpose infrastructure substitute by default. Consider it when WordPress management is central to the decision.
- Kinsta: Also named in Liquid Web’s managed WordPress comparisons. Compare WordPress-specific capabilities and operating terms with the plan you currently use or are considering.
How to choose the right alternative
Make the comparison at the plan level. A company name alone does not tell you whether a provider handles server administration, assists with migration, includes backups, or offers the software and support your site needs.
- Workload: Identify whether you need a general website host, VPS, dedicated server, cloud application platform, WordPress host, or an environment for Magento or WooCommerce.
- Management: Decide whether you want managed support or are comfortable configuring and maintaining more of the environment yourself. A self-directed infrastructure service is not automatically a substitute for a managed server.
- Operations: Check what migration help, backups, support coverage, and response expectations are included, and what remains your responsibility.
- Commercial terms: Compare renewal pricing, billing predictability, resource or traffic limits, contract length, and fees for support or add-ons. Current prices and terms are not established by the comparison list.
- Reliability terms: Read the exact service-level agreement for the plan. Check what is measured, what exclusions apply, and what remedy is offered if the target is missed.
- Platform fit: Confirm software compatibility, ecommerce capabilities, agency tools, and scaling options against your actual requirements.
What Liquid Web’s comparison does—and does not—establish
Liquid Web’s alternatives page separates providers across VPS, dedicated, cloud, WordPress, Magento, and WooCommerce use cases. That breadth helps explain why its comparison list includes both infrastructure providers and managed WordPress specialists; it does not show that all of them offer the same service or are equally suitable replacements.
Rank #2
The page also makes claims about Liquid Web itself, including regular data-center audits against standards such as HIPAA and PCI-DSS and a 100% power and network uptime guarantee backed by a 10X credit. These are vendor statements, not independent test findings. Before relying on them, confirm the current terms, exclusions, remedy, and whether they apply to the specific service and plan you would buy.
