Lenovo tablet vs Samsung Galaxy Tab: Which is better for watching movies and listening to music?

Choose the Lenovo Tab Plus Gen 2 if built-in sound and casual music playback matter most. Choose the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE+ if you want the larger movie screen and Samsung’s longer claimed wireless-video runtime. Neither brand wins every use case, and the cheaper Galaxy Tab A11+ belongs in a different, more budget-focused comparison.

Quick verdict

The best tablet for watching movies and listening to music depends on whether your priority is the picture, the speakers, or battery life away from a charger.

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

  • Best for built-in audio: Lenovo Tab Plus Gen 2. It combines Dolby Audio modes, a dedicated Bluetooth-speaker mode and a large battery. Lenovo’s broader Tab Plus specification also describes an eight-speaker JBL Hi-Fi system, but that specification is for an 11.5-inch 2K model, so confirm the exact regional SKU before assuming the same speaker hardware is included in every Gen 2 listing.
  • Best for the largest movie image: Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE+. Its 13.1-inch 2880×1800 panel is the biggest display in this comparison.
  • Best for Samsung phone owners: Galaxy Tab S10 FE+, provided the device-integration features you need are available in your country and software version.
  • Lower-cost option: Galaxy Tab A11+. Its 11-inch TFT LCD and quad speakers can cover ordinary streaming, but its screen and battery specification are a step below the S10 FE+.

Manufacturer battery figures are controlled claims, not guarantees of a fixed number of hours in your home. Brightness, Wi-Fi strength, streaming codec, refresh rate, speaker volume and background apps all change the result.

Which tablet gives movies the better picture?

Lenovo Tab Plus Gen 2: a high-contrast, compact cinema option

The Gen 2 model’s 12.1-inch 2.5K display is large enough for a comfortable two-person viewing session without being as physically imposing as a 13-inch tablet. Dolby Vision and HDR10 support can preserve highlight detail and richer color when a streaming service supplies compatible HDR content. Dolby Audio’s Dynamic, Movie and Music modes let you change the processing to suit dialogue-heavy shows, action films or songs.

HDR support does not mean every film will look like HDR. The service, title, account tier and playback app must deliver an HDR stream, and the panel’s actual brightness determines how convincing the effect appears. The cited Lenovo specification does not state peak or sustained brightness, contrast measurements, color coverage, or the display aspect ratio. Those omissions make it impossible to declare the Gen 2 universally superior for picture quality from resolution and HDR badges alone.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE+: the largest viewing canvas

The S10 FE+ has a 13.1-inch 2880×1800 display, giving it the greatest physical image area here. That matters when subtitles, interface controls or split-screen viewing would otherwise make a smaller panel feel cramped. Its resolution is high enough for sharp 1080p-class video and detailed photographs, although streaming quality still depends on the source and connection.

Samsung’s cited specification identifies the panel resolution and size but does not state HDR support, peak brightness, aspect ratio or a laboratory color measurement. A larger screen also consumes more power at the same brightness, so the screen-size advantage should be weighed against how often you carry the tablet and where you watch.

Galaxy Tab A11+: adequate for everyday streaming

The A11+ uses an 11-inch TFT LCD. It is a sensible size for a child’s profile, a kitchen counter or occasional travel viewing, but it has less stated display capability than the two premium comparisons: no HDR feature is listed, and Samsung does not provide a brightness or aspect-ratio figure in the cited material. If your viewing is mostly standard-definition or ordinary 1080p content, those limits may not matter; movie enthusiasts will notice the narrower specification headroom.

Lenovo Idea Tab Pro Gen 2 Tablet + Pen & Folio Case - 13″ 3.5K IPS Touchscreen Display - 144Hz - Qualcomm® Snapdragon® 8s CPU - 8GB Memory - 128GB Storage - Integrated Qualcomm® Adreno™ 825 GPU
  • BUILT TO THINK FORWARD – The Lenovo Idea Tab Pro Gen 2 is built for smart, focused study with AI-powered tools that help you organize, visualize, and absorb more. It has a vivid 13” 3.5K display and is optimized for powerful performance everywhere you go.
  • SMARTER READER, SMARTER NOTES – Read papers, mark notes in the margins, and organize PDFs with Smart Capture to stay ready for meetings and classes alike.
  • SHARPER VIEWS AND BRIGHTER FOCUS – The 13” 3.5K LTPS display offers stunning detail and 800 nits brightness for impeccable viewing outside and in. The Idea Tab Pro Gen 2 is certified with TÜV Rheinland Low Blue Light and Flicker Free technology to minimize eye fatigue and maximize visual splendor.
  • NOTHING SLIPS, EVERYTHING STICKS – Lenovo AI Live Transcript takes continuous notes for you during meetings and class so you can stay present and study them later. They’re saved automatically to Notepad where you can create summaries and identify key takeaways to create structured notes that actually stick.
  • LEARN VISUALLY – Long press on an image to activate Smart Capture and pull key visuals straight into Lenovo Notepad. Clean up hand-drawn ideas with Sketch to Image, or sharpen blurry details when clarity matters. From quick capture to classroom- ready notes, learning becomes easier to understand and simpler to share.

What screen size means in practice

  • For a single viewer in bed or on a tray: the Lenovo Gen 2 is easier to position than a 13.1-inch tablet while still offering a large image.
  • For two viewers on a sofa: the S10 FE+ gives each person a better angle and a larger subtitle area.
  • For travel: measure your bag and tray-table space. The diagonal measurement does not reveal bezel width or total body dimensions, which are not stated here.
  • For HDR films: select the Lenovo only if the specific title and app support Dolby Vision or HDR10 and you value that format support. Do not assume HDR alone proves higher overall picture quality.

Which tablet has the better built-in speakers?

Lenovo’s audio-first approach

Lenovo is the stronger choice when you want room-filling sound without carrying a separate speaker. The Gen 2 provides Dolby Audio processing with distinct Dynamic, Movie and Music modes, so dialogue and music can be tuned differently. Its Bluetooth speaker mode allows the tablet to receive audio from another device and act as a wireless speaker, a useful feature at a desk, picnic or kitchen counter.

Lenovo’s 2024 Tab Plus specification goes further by listing eight JBL Hi-Fi speakers, Bluetooth speaker mode, up to 12 hours of video playback and up to 38 hours of music playback. Because that page describes an 11.5-inch 2K model rather than explicitly repeating every Gen 2 detail, treat the eight-speaker count as model-specific. Verify the exact listing if speaker quantity is the deciding factor.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Speaker count is not the same as sound quality. Tuning, enclosure volume, stereo spacing and maximum-volume distortion matter at least as much. The available specifications do not provide frequency-response graphs, distortion figures or a standardized loudness measurement, so the fair conclusion is that Lenovo offers the clearest audio feature set on paper, not a laboratory-proven universal victory.

Samsung’s audio information is less specific

The cited S10 FE+ specification does not state a speaker count or named audio-processing modes. That does not prove poor sound; it means you should listen to a unit or consult a current regional specification if loudspeaker performance is central to your purchase. Samsung’s smaller A11+ explicitly lists quad speakers, which should provide stereo output for films, but the specification does not establish their loudness, bass extension or separation.

For either Samsung tablet, a stand or folio that blocks a speaker grille can change the result. Place the tablet on a hard surface with the speaker openings unobstructed, and avoid covering them with your hands in landscape orientation.

Battery life: claimed figures versus realistic comparisons

What the manufacturer claims

Lenovo claims up to 15 hours of YouTube streaming for the Tab Plus Gen 2 from its 10,200mAh battery. Samsung claims up to 21 hours of wireless video playback for the S10 FE+ from a 10,090mAh battery. Samsung’s A11+ claim is up to 15 hours of video playback from a 7,040mAh battery. The 11.5-inch Lenovo Tab Plus specification lists up to 12 hours of video playback and up to 38 hours of music playback.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

These numbers are not directly comparable tests. “YouTube streaming,” “wireless video playback” and “video playback” can use different brightness levels, network conditions, codecs, volume settings and test loops. “Up to” describes a best-case ceiling, not a promise that a downloaded film will run for that duration at your preferred brightness.

Independent Lenovo testing

Tom’s Guide reported 16 hours of endurance for the Lenovo Tab Plus Gen 2 in a 60Hz web-browsing test at 150-nit brightness. In a separate 120Hz condition, it lasted 13 hours and 39 minutes. This is useful evidence that refresh rate can materially affect endurance, but it is a web test rather than a standardized movie-streaming result. A video app may produce a different result because decoding, Wi-Fi activity and screen brightness change the workload.

How to estimate your own streaming time

  1. Start with the manufacturer figure only as a ceiling, then reduce expectations if you use high brightness, maximum volume, HDR, mobile hotspot data or a high refresh rate.
  2. Download one representative film and play it at your normal brightness and volume. Offline playback removes Wi-Fi variability and gives a cleaner personal baseline.
  3. Record the battery percentage before and after a one-hour session. Multiply the percentage consumed by 100 to approximate total hours, allowing for the nonlinear behavior near empty.
  4. Repeat with speakers and headphones if you switch between them. Loudspeaker amplification can consume more power than low-volume headphones.

Private listening and connection options

Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE+

The S10 FE+ supports Bluetooth 5.3 and USB-C audio. Bluetooth is convenient for wireless headphones or a soundbar; USB-C audio is useful when you want a wired connection, lower radio use or a USB-C digital-to-analog adapter. Check the headphone adapter’s compatibility before buying, because not every USB-C accessory carries audio in the same way.

Lenovo models

The cited Lenovo specifications confirm Bluetooth speaker mode but do not state a Bluetooth version or a headphone-port specification. A retailer may list those details for a particular region, but they should not be generalized across every Lenovo Tab Plus listing. If wired headphones are essential, verify the port and whether an adapter is included before purchase.

Watching without disturbing others

  • Pair headphones before starting a film and test lip-sync with a dialogue scene.
  • Disable automatic Bluetooth reconnection if the tablet keeps sending audio to a nearby car or speaker.
  • Use the tablet’s own volume limiter or your headphone’s safe-listening control for long sessions.
  • For two listeners, choose headphones that support independent volume controls or use a compatible splitter and adapter; the cited specifications do not confirm multi-output support.

Practical ownership factors

Storage and expandable media

The cited specifications do not state internal storage capacities or microSD support for these models. That matters if you download films for flights or keep a large music library. Confirm both the storage tier and the maximum supported card for the exact regional model; do not infer them from the tablet family name.

Stands, covers and charging

A kickstand cover is more important for a large-screen movie tablet than for a phone because holding a 12- or 13-inch device for a two-hour film is tiring. The supplied specifications do not establish included-cover availability, charging-wattage limits or a full-charge time. Treat accessory compatibility and charging speed as separate checks rather than assuming a larger battery charges faster.

Weight and portability

Weight and total dimensions are not stated in the cited material, so no honest ranking is possible. A 13.1-inch tablet will occupy more space than an 11-inch model, but chassis thickness, bezel design and materials determine the actual difference. Look up the exact regional dimensions before choosing a travel case.

Software and ecosystem

Samsung’s ecosystem can be valuable if you already use a Galaxy phone, earbuds or other Samsung devices. The availability of specific continuity, file-sharing or multi-device functions can vary by country, account and software version, so verify the current feature list for your region. Lenovo’s Bluetooth speaker mode is a more narrowly defined benefit that does not require ownership of another Lenovo device.

Choosing by viewing and listening scenario

You mostly watch films with the tablet’s own speakers

Pick the Lenovo Tab Plus Gen 2. Dolby’s selectable modes and the dedicated Bluetooth-speaker function address both film dialogue and music playback. If a product listing instead describes the 11.5-inch Lenovo Tab Plus, its eight JBL Hi-Fi speakers are a strong paper advantage, but confirm that you are buying that model rather than assuming the Gen 2 and 11.5-inch specifications are identical.

You want the biggest screen for a sofa or bedside stand

Pick the Galaxy Tab S10 FE+. The 13.1-inch panel is the largest here, and its 2880×1800 resolution keeps the expanded image detailed. Add headphones or an external speaker if the unspecified built-in audio performance does not meet your expectations.

You travel and care about the longest claimed wireless-video run

The S10 FE+ has Samsung’s highest stated wireless-video figure. Remember that it is a controlled manufacturer claim and may not match HDR streaming at high brightness over a weak hotel network. Downloading content and lowering brightness generally produces a more predictable travel experience.

You need an inexpensive, uncomplicated streaming tablet

The Galaxy Tab A11+ is the sensible baseline. Its 11-inch size, quad speakers and stated video-playback claim cover ordinary films and shows. Choose it only if you accept the TFT LCD and lower battery capacity relative to the premium models.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

You listen to music for long periods

The 11.5-inch Lenovo Tab Plus specification is the only one here that states a dedicated music-playback figure of up to 38 hours, along with eight JBL Hi-Fi speakers. The Gen 2 is the safer choice when you specifically want its newer 12.1-inch display and Dolby modes, but do not transfer the 38-hour figure to Gen 2 unless Lenovo lists it for your exact configuration.

Setup tips for better movie and music playback

  1. Choose the right orientation. Use landscape for films so the stereo channels are separated left and right. Keep your hands away from speaker grilles.
  2. Set brightness manually. Automatic brightness can surge in a dark room and waste battery. Set the lowest level that preserves shadow detail and subtitles.
  3. Use the matching audio mode. On the Gen 2, start with Movie for dialogue and Dynamic for mixed content; switch to Music for albums. If voices sound thin or effects are harsh, reduce processing rather than simply raising volume.
  4. Download before travel. Offline files avoid network buffering and make battery behavior more consistent. Confirm that your streaming service permits downloads on the account and device.
  5. Check subtitle placement. On a larger 16:10-style tablet display, subtitles may sit farther from the image edge than on a phone. Adjust the app’s subtitle size and contrast before the film starts.
  6. Protect the charging port. A case or stand should not press against a USB-C cable, particularly when using wired headphones on the S10 FE+.
  7. Test Bluetooth latency. Play a scene with clapping or dialogue after pairing headphones. If the app offers audio-delay adjustment, use it rather than blaming the tablet’s speakers.

Common buying mistakes

  • Confusing Lenovo models: an 11.5-inch 2K Tab Plus specification and a 12.1-inch 2.5K Tab Plus Gen 2 are not the same row in a comparison chart.
  • Comparing battery numbers as if they were lab results: the Lenovo YouTube claim, Samsung wireless-video claim and independent web test use different workloads.
  • Assuming HDR guarantees a better picture: brightness and the streaming source determine whether HDR is visibly beneficial.
  • Using speaker count as a quality score: eight, four or an unstated count says little about distortion, bass or stereo width without measurements.
  • Ignoring accessories: a case that blocks grilles or a stand that forces an awkward angle can undermine a tablet’s media advantages.
  • Buying on family name alone: storage, wireless radios, ports and software features can vary by region and configuration.

Final recommendation

For a tablet that can replace a small portable speaker while still delivering a strong movie experience, choose the Lenovo Tab Plus Gen 2. Its Dolby Audio modes, Bluetooth speaker mode, HDR-capable 2.5K display and audio-focused design make it the better fit for built-in listening.

For the most expansive movie view and the strongest manufacturer battery claim, choose the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE+. Its 13.1-inch 2880×1800 screen, USB-C audio and Bluetooth 5.3 make it the more screen-first and headphone-friendly option.

The Galaxy Tab A11+ is a reasonable lower-cost streaming tablet, while the 11.5-inch Lenovo Tab Plus specification deserves attention if its eight-speaker JBL system and long stated music-playback figure are more important than having the newer Gen 2 display. Verify the exact model, region and configuration before paying, because “Lenovo tablet” and “Galaxy Tab” describe broad families rather than one fixed specification.
