It includes 1,911 pieces, working Open and Power buttons, a plug-in controller, and two removable game dioramas. What is LEGO PlayStation set 72306?
It is an 18+ LEGO display set that recreates the original PlayStation console and its first controller. LEGO lists 1,911 pieces and describes the model as near 1:1 scale. Its published dimensions are over 6 cm high, 26 cm wide, and 19 cm deep. Those measurements mean you should plan for a shelf or table wider and deeper than a small-console footprint.

The LEGO Group announced the set and its specifications on LEGO.com. “Near 1:1 scale” is LEGO’s description; it is not an independent measurement against an original console.

Console and controller
The console has functional Open and Power buttons, and the controller plugs into it. LEGO says the design team worked with PlayStation using original schematics and developed new LEGO elements for the controller buttons and the console buttons. These are design-process details from the manufacturer, not independent findings about fit or durability.

Two removable game scenes
Two concealed buildable scenes reference Gran Turismo and Ape Escape. The Gran Turismo scene includes a small track and cars; the Ape Escape scene features a red or blue monkey helmet element. Both scenes can be pulled out and displayed separately, and PlayStation describes their elements as customizable.

LEGO’s product page also documents optional support in the LEGO Builder app: zoomable, rotatable 3D instructions and progress tracking. The app is a construction aid, not a stated requirement for building the set.
How much space does it need?
Allow at least the published footprint of 26 cm wide by 19 cm deep, plus some room to reach the buttons and remove or position the scenes. The console is listed as over 6 cm high. LEGO does not publish a separate footprint for the pulled-out dioramas, so allow additional display space if you plan to show them beside the console rather than stored within it.

Is LEGO PlayStation 72306 worth buying?
Its clearest case is for an adult builder or PlayStation fan who wants a substantial display piece with recognizable console details and game references. The removable scenes and working buttons give the model more to interact with than a purely static console replica, while the published footprint and regional price make it a considered display purchase rather than a small impulse set.

Whether it is worth the price for you depends on how much you value the original PlayStation, Gran Turismo, and Ape Escape references. Official specifications and product descriptions establish the contents and dimensions, but they do not establish build enjoyment, structural stability, or value against other retro-console sets. Those judgments need hands-on evaluation. The LEGO Builder app may help builders who prefer digital instructions, but is optional.
Verdict
LEGO PlayStation 72306 has a focused appeal: a near-scale recreation of the original console and controller, interactive buttons, and two removable game scenes. At 1,911 pieces and the announced US$179.99, £139.99, or €159.99 price points, it makes most sense for fans who intend to display the finished build and value its specific PlayStation callbacks. Confirm your local price and availability before buying.
