The Western Bulldogs have signed Adelaide key defender Jordon Butts as an unrestricted free agent, with the move reported to begin in 2027. Adelaide is reported to receive a second-round compensation selection currently numbered No. 33.

Butts is leaving Adelaide for the Western Bulldogs through unrestricted free agency. The reported arrangement is for 2027 and beyond; contract length, salary and other terms have not been stated.

AAP describes Butts as 26 and reports that he played 94 games for Adelaide across eight seasons. In 2026, he averaged 11 disposals, three intercept marks and five spoils per match. The report characterizes him as a lockdown defender and notes several injury setbacks, but does not detail dates or diagnoses.

What the clubs and Butts said
Western Bulldogs list boss Michael Regan said in a club statement: “Jordon is a talented and competitive key defender who has proven he can negate and intercept against the best key forwards in the competition.” That is the club’s assessment of the role it expects him to fill.
Butts said: “I am super excited to be joining the Bulldogs and getting to meet all the boys over the coming weeks.”
