Live Practice Mode is rolling out
YouTube is rolling out Live Practice Mode to creators on its mobile app. It offers a private place to rehearse a stream setup and content before starting a live broadcast. “Rolling out” does not mean every creator has access immediately; check the YouTube mobile app for availability on your account.

Remix moved into the Share menu
In May 2026, YouTube said the Remix button was moving from beneath the video player into the Share menu. The Remix tools remain accessible there, so creators and viewers looking for them should check Share.
Channel guidelines and comment tools
YouTube’s April 2026 update lets creators set up to three channel guidelines globally. Those guidelines can appear in comments, live chat, and Community posts. March 2026 updates added Studio comment search by topic or meaning, using a prompt, suggested topic, or similar comments, as well as suggested comments creators may want to heart in the Studio mobile app.
Playables in vertical live streams
YouTube added Playables as a mini-activity in mobile vertical live streams in March 2026. Availability is limited to certain countries and selected Playables, so do not assume the feature is available for every channel or location.

What did YouTube announce at Made on YouTube 2026?
On September 23, 2026, TeamYouTube announced more than 30 features and initiatives across creator production, discovery, fandom, and business. The post describes plans involving creator choices for organizing episodic Shorts, personalized comment moderation, and Ask Studio, among other areas. The event announcement is a broad overview, not a guarantee that every feature is already available to every creator. Check the feature-specific YouTube help page or Studio before planning around a particular rollout.
What are the YouTube monetization rules right now?
YouTube has distinct earlier-access and full ad-revenue thresholds. Meeting the numbers does not guarantee acceptance: YouTube reviews channels, and policy, country or region, account security, channel standing, advanced-features access, and AdSense requirements also apply.
Earlier-access YPP features
For eligible regions, YouTube’s monetization features page lists the following entry requirements for earlier-access YPP features:
- At least 500 subscribers.
- At least three public uploads in the last 90 days.
- Either 3,000 qualified public long-form watch hours in the last 365 days or 3 million qualified public Shorts views in the last 90 days.
This tier opens specified fan-funding and Shopping features. Availability depends on the creator’s country or region, and these thresholds are not the full ad-revenue requirements.

Full ad-revenue eligibility
YouTube’s YPP overview lists two routes to the full ad-revenue thresholds:
- At least 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 qualified public watch hours in the last 12 months; or
- At least 1,000 subscribers and 10 million qualified public Shorts views in the last 90 days.
Shorts Feed watch time does not count toward the 4,000-hour route. These are eligibility thresholds, not a promise of approval or a particular level of earnings.
What changes to YPP terms take effect in 2027?
YouTube’s YPP changes page says announced changes take effect February 1, 2027. Creators should review the Earn area in Studio and accept any applicable updated terms by January 31, 2027. If a creator does not accept by then, YouTube says earning from the associated features stops beginning February 1 until the terms are accepted.
Rank #4
The announcement describes Premium Lite expansion and revenue pools, changed activity requirements, and other Shorts earning changes. These are future terms as of October 2026; they should not be confused with current YPP eligibility thresholds. YouTube says the announcement does not change current eligibility requirements for fan funding, Creator Partnerships, or Shopping.
What should creators check about monetization and AI policies?
Originality and reused content
YouTube’s channel monetization policies say that on July 15, 2025, it renamed “repetitious content” to “inauthentic content” and clarified that repetitive or mass-produced material falls under that policy. YouTube says the reused-content policy did not change. This is not a blanket ban on all reused clips: reused content and inauthentic content are distinct policy considerations. YouTube says monetized content should be original and authentic, and reviewers may consider a channel’s overall theme, most-viewed and newest videos, metadata, and other context.
Generative-AI labels
A May 27, 2026 TeamYouTube announcement described more prominent generative-AI labels and updates to creator disclosure tools. The announcement states that applying labels alone will not affect recommendations or monetization eligibility. For current implementation details, use the disclosure controls in Studio and consult YouTube’s current policy guidance rather than relying only on an announcement.
How can creators keep a prerecorded YouTube stream running?
Live Practice Mode is for rehearsing a stream; it does not itself keep a broadcast running. If you run a channel that loops uploaded videos as a 24/7 YouTube stream, StreamNeo is a separate cloud service: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. The cloud continues the loop without your computer or home connection staying on; it can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream. A slot streams the uploaded file as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot, with 10 GB storage per slot pooled across active slots. The first day is free with no card; monthly billing is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo plays uploaded video to YouTube; it does not stream from a camera. Start the free first day.
