A microphone permission problem, an undetected external input, and Android’s limits on capturing audio from another app are different issues, so test them separately before changing stream settings.
1. Check Larix microphone permission and Android’s microphone control
- Open Settings > Apps > Larix Broadcaster > Permissions > Microphone and allow microphone access. Android Help explains that this permission lets the app record audio: Change app permissions on your Android phone.
- Check the device-wide microphone access control as well. On supported versions, look under Settings > Security & privacy > Privacy controls for Microphone access, and turn it on if it is off.
- Return to Larix and make a short test. Android menu names and locations can differ by manufacturer and OS version; if these paths do not match your phone, search Settings for “Microphone” or “Permissions.”
App permission and the system-wide control are separate. If either blocks access, Larix may not receive microphone audio.

2. Confirm Larix is using the intended audio source
In Larix, open Settings > Audio and inspect Audio source. Choose the built-in microphone source if you are speaking near the phone. If you use a wired or USB microphone, headset, or mixer, connect it and check that Larix is selecting that input.
Larix’s Google Play listing suggests trying the Audio source setting when an input is not detected. Its developer guidance also mentions trying a higher sample rate, such as 48000, for some external devices. That is a troubleshooting option, not a universal requirement or guaranteed fix. 3. Separate microphone audio from audio inside another app
Work out which sound is missing: your voice or another sound playing on the phone. They use different capture paths. A silent microphone is not explained by Android’s restriction on capturing another app’s playback.
- Android 9 or earlier: Larix’s FAQ says these versions restrict apps from capturing audio playing inside other apps.
- Android 10: media capture is available only from apps that support external recording. In Larix, the documented control is Audio > Sound settings > Media sounds.
These limits apply to internal or app playback capture, not ordinary microphone recording. Check the version-specific details in Softvelum’s Larix FAQ.

4. Check an external microphone, headset, or mixer feed
A connector that fits does not prove that the phone accepts the signal or that Larix has selected it. Reconnect the accessory, check that the adapter and connector match the phone, and confirm that both the phone and Larix recognize the intended input. YouTube’s encoder guide likewise advises connecting microphones and setting them up with the encoder: Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.

The Larix Google Play listing includes an individual report that a Pixel 3a did not always detect a line feed through its headphone jack. That report is not evidence of a general Pixel issue; it illustrates why the specific input path needs to be checked. If an external microphone is the problem, a compatible USB-C lavalier may be an alternative input, but verify compatibility with your phone and Larix before buying one. A new microphone will not fix denied permission or a YouTube-side routing problem.

5. Find where the audio disappears
Test in stages: first check whether Larix shows audio activity and whether a local recording, if available, contains sound. Then inspect the incoming preview in YouTube Live Control Room and listen to the stream from a separate device. YouTube’s guide explains that the encoder must be configured with the YouTube Live server URL and stream key; these settings are worth checking if audio is present locally but missing from the stream. This staged diagnosis is an inference from the documented capture and encoder steps, not a Larix-specific vendor procedure.
- Local capture is silent: return to Android’s microphone permission and privacy controls, then check Larix’s selected input.
- Local capture has sound but YouTube’s preview or playback does not: check the encoder’s audio routing and stream connection settings, including the YouTube server URL and stream key.
- Preview has sound but a listener’s playback does not: compare playback on a separate device and check that device’s volume and audio output before changing the phone’s capture settings.
