Check the submitted URL and API authentication, confirm cloud access to local or private sites, and verify login steps and page-render settings. The exact dashboard error message is not explained in the available official references, so treat these as diagnostic checks rather than guaranteed fixes.
First identify where the failure occurs
Separate a failed request from a page that opened but looks blank or incomplete. For API-based Screenshot Testing, LambdaTest requires a URL and Basic authentication. Its API reference shows examples of 400, 401, and 403 responses; those status codes are clues that the request or access may need attention, not definitive diagnoses of one cause. See the Automated Screenshot API documentation and Start Screenshot Test API reference.

If you are using the dashboard rather than the API, the cited references do not establish dashboard-specific error meanings or settings. The checks below still help distinguish reachability, authentication, and rendering problems, but do not assume every API option appears in the dashboard.
Check the URL and request setup
- Confirm the URL is spelled correctly and includes the scheme, such as
https://orhttp://. - Check the path, redirects, and any required query parameters. Do not include credentials or other secrets in a URL you share with support.
- For the API, make sure the request includes the required URL value and a valid Basic authentication header. Review the response status and body rather than treating every failure as a page-rendering issue.
Make local and private pages reachable
A cloud browser cannot use your computer’s localhost address as though it were browsing locally. If the site is hosted on your machine, VPN, or private network, configure LambdaTest’s tunnel workflow so the cloud test can reach it. The API reference includes optional tunnel and tunnel_identifier fields, and LambdaTest documents testing locally hosted pages. Confirm the tunnel is running and that the request uses the matching tunnel setup; a page opening in your own browser does not prove it is reachable from the cloud.

For a login-protected page, configure the login flow
LambdaTest’s guide for taking screenshots of pages behind login describes supplying a login URL and locators for the username field, password field, and submit control. Use the actual login page and verify each locator targets the intended element. Then confirm the workflow reaches the destination page after submitting; incorrect field locators can cause the test to fail. See LambdaTest’s guide to screenshots of pages behind login.
If navigation works but the screenshot is blank or partial
Some pages populate content asynchronously, load images lazily, or fetch assets from separate hostnames. A screenshot taken before those steps finish may be incomplete even when navigation itself succeeded.

LambdaTest’s SmartUI Selenium documentation describes options including waitForTimeout for lazy-loaded or asynchronous components, waitForPageRender for pages that take longer to load, enableJavaScript, and allowedHostnames for additional asset hosts. The documentation’s example values of 1,000 ms and 50,000 ms are configuration examples, not universal recommended waits. These settings are documented for SmartUI Selenium; the cited source does not establish that they are available in the separate Screenshot Testing UI. Consult the SmartUI Selenium configuration documentation for the configuration relevant to that workflow.
Escalate with details that help isolate the issue
If the URL is correct and public, or the private-network tunnel and login flow are verified, but the test still fails, collect the details needed to distinguish an access issue from a rendering problem:
Rank #3
- The test ID, exact URL with secrets redacted, and timestamp.
- The selected browser and operating-system configuration.
- The API response or screenshot status, if using the API.
- Whether the page is public, private, or login-protected, and what happens after navigation.
The API documentation describes retrieving screenshot-test details by test ID. Include those details when contacting LambdaTest support.

For a separate screenshot API, ScreenshotNeo offers a single GET request for a screenshot or PDF. Cookie banners and consent overlays, newsletter popups, and chat widgets are removed before capture; bot checks, blank pages, and failed loads are never billed. Its MCP server lets AI agents take screenshots, and it includes 1,000 screenshots a month free with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. The code and options are documented at ScreenshotNeo’s API documentation.
