The better fit depends on how you make videos: whether you want to build from text, guide generation with visual references, work across multiple shots, or use a platform that brings several models and video workflows together. The official product descriptions point to different strengths, but they are not a standardized head-to-head test.
How the three tools differ
| Option | What its official materials emphasize | Best workflow to investigate first |
|---|---|---|
| Kling Video 3.0 | Kuaishou describes a multimodal framework spanning text, images, audio, and video, with video understanding, generation and editing, reference-based consistency, and multi-shot creation. Kuaishou’s Video 3.0 announcement | A project combining several input types, recurring visual references, or multiple shots. |
| Runway Gen-4 | Runway describes using visual references to create images and videos with consistent styles, subjects, and locations. Its guide emphasizes describing the action and supplying visual detail. Gen-4 announcement; Gen-4 Video Prompting Guide | A reference-led project where you want to guide what happens in a shot through prompts and visual material. |
| Luma platform and Ray2 | Luma’s current video-generator page describes image-to-video and video-to-video workflows and model switching, including access to third-party models such as Kling. The separate Ray2 page describes capabilities of that specific model. Luma video generator; Ray2 page | A workflow where choosing among models or using multiple video-generation modes within a platform matters. |
These descriptions come from the providers, not an independent comparison. They indicate what to explore, not which service produces the best-looking, fastest, or most reliable result for your particular job.

Which workflow are you trying to support?
Choose Kling as a candidate for multimodal and multi-shot work
Kuaishou’s announcement for Kling Video 3.0 frames it as a system for text, image, audio, and video, and highlights reference-based consistency and multi-shot creation. If you need to combine input types or plan a sequence rather than a single isolated clip, those are relevant capabilities to test. They are vendor-described features, not proof that Kling will preserve a character or setting better than the alternatives on your material. See the official Video 3.0 announcement and Kling AI.

Choose Runway as a candidate for reference-led prompting
Runway Gen-4 is presented around visual references that help guide subjects, styles, and locations. Runway’s prompting guide advises stating what should happen and describing visual details. This makes it worth evaluating when you can provide reference imagery and are prepared to refine prompts around a shot’s action and appearance. The materials do not establish that Gen-4 has superior consistency or output quality; compare results on your own subjects and scenes. Read the Gen-4 announcement and prompting guide.
#1 Best Overall
- EVOLUTION RYZEN AI MAX+ 395 MINI PC - GMKtec EVO-X2 is the next evolution in AI mini PC Ryzen Strix Halo series. Thanks to AMD Simultaneous Multithreading (SMT) the core-count is effectively doubled, to 32 threads. Ryzen AI Max+ 395 has 64 MB of L3 cache and can boost up to 5.1 GHz, depending on the workload. The Ryzen AI Max+ 395 is currently rated as the "most powerful x86 APU" on the market for AI computing.
- AI NPU with XDNA 2 ARCHITECTURE - Powered by 16 “Zen 5” CPU cores, 50+ peak AI TOPS XDNA 2 NPU and a truly massive integrated GPU driven by 40 AMD RDNA 3.5 CUs, the Ryzen AI MAX+ 395 is a transformative upgrade and delivers a significant performance boost over the competition. The Ryzen AI Max+ 395 excels in consumer AI workloads like the llama.cpp-powered application: LM Studio. Shaping up to be the must-have app for client LLM workloads, LM Studio allows users to locally run the latest language model without any technical knowledge required and unleash their creativity and productivity.
- AMD RADEON 8090S iGPU GAMING PC - The AMD Radeon RX 8060S offers all 40 CUs with up to 2.9 GHz graphics clock and uses the new RDNA 3.5 architecture. The powerful iGPU is positioned between an RTX 4060 and 4070 laptop GPU and therefore enables gaming in FHD at maximum details in most demanding games. The 8060S can also utilize the full 128GB pool, which is perfect for running LLMs such as Deepseek 70B Q8, which runs comfortably on this machine.
- EIGHT CHANNEL LPDDR5X - LPDDR5X is a new ground breaking memory small form factor installed on-board. With blazing speeds up to to 8000MT/s, it runs 1.5x faster than the DDR5 SODIMMs; 90% better performance over DDR5 SODIMMs in video conferencing and photo editing; 30% better performance in productivity apps; 12% better performance in digital content workloads.
- QUAD SCREEN 8K DISPLAY SUPPORT - EVO-X2 AI Mini PC support 4-screen 4K/8K output via HDMI 2.1 (8K@60Hz), DisplayPort 1.4 (4K@60Hz), and dual USB 4 40Gbps Transfer speed (supporting PD3.0/DP1.4/DATA). Ideal for gaming, video editing, and multitasking, it provides expansive and crisp multi-display support.
Choose Luma as a candidate when the platform matters as much as the model
Keep Ray2 distinct from Luma’s broader platform. The Ray2 page lists text-to-video as available and image-to-video, video-to-video, and editing as coming soon on that page. Luma’s separate, current video-generator page describes image-to-video and video-to-video workflows and model switching, including third-party models such as Kling. The pages describe different product surfaces; Ray2’s model page should not be treated as a complete account of what the broader platform offers. Check the Ray2 page alongside the video-generator page. The Ray2 launch changelog says it was available to paid Dream Machine subscribers at the time of release; that historical note is not current access or pricing guidance.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to make a fair choice
Test each option against the same real task instead of relying on a general-purpose ranking. A useful trial is a representative shot or short sequence from your project, using the kinds of prompts, images, and revisions you would actually use. Record what each tool lets you control and how much additional work is needed before the output fits your edit.
- Define the deliverable. Specify whether you need a single shot or a sequence, the required visual style, any recurring subject or location, and how the result will be delivered or edited.
- Match the input to the workflow. Determine whether you need to start from text, an image, existing video, audio, or a combination. Confirm support in the exact model or product surface you intend to use rather than assuming that a platform-level feature applies to every model.
- Try a representative reference and prompt. For reference-led work, use the same source image or visual brief where the tools allow it. Describe the action and important visual details, then note which parts you can reliably steer and which require repeated attempts.
- Evaluate continuity and shot control. For recurring subjects, styles, or locations, inspect consistency across the shots you need. If your project has multiple shots, check whether the available multi-shot workflow suits your sequence rather than judging only a single clip.
- Check the finished-file requirements. Verify usable output formats and quality against your actual editing and delivery needs. The cited product descriptions do not provide a comparable independent quality score.
- Compare the current terms before paying. Confirm the selected model, regional availability, subscription price, credits, generation limits, watermarks, and commercial-use terms on the provider’s current plan and policy pages. These details can vary by plan and change over time.
- Include workflow friction in the decision. Consider how well the tool fits your existing production process, including iteration, editing, and moving generated assets into the rest of your work.
What the available evidence cannot establish
The official materials describe capabilities and positioning, but they do not provide a current, standardized head-to-head benchmark for Kling, Runway, and Luma. There is no supported common score here for visual quality, speed, reliability, ease of use, or value. Nor is there a like-for-like current comparison of subscription costs, credits, output limits, watermarks, or commercial-use rights. Those are purchase questions to verify for the precise model, plan, and region you will use—not reasons to infer a winner from launch announcements.
