Nintendo’s official materials reviewed here do not identify a separate setting called “assist mode.” If a stage is proving difficult, you can also use food to heal, prepare in Waddle Dee Town, or invite another player to join locally as Bandana Waddle Dee.
How the two difficulty modes differ
| Mode | What changes | Who it suits |
|---|---|---|
| Spring-Breeze | Nintendo describes Kirby as having more health and enemies as easier. Nintendo calls it suitable for beginners. | Players who want a more forgiving run or find a stage frustrating. |
| Wild | Enemies are tougher and rewards are greater. A developer says defeating enemies in Wild Mode earns more in-game coins; Nintendo does not give a bonus multiplier. | Players looking for a tougher experience and additional in-game coin rewards. |
Nintendo does not publish a numerical comparison of health or enemy stats in the cited materials, so the differences are described qualitatively.

According to a Nintendo developer interview, you can select a mode in Waddle Dee Town or on the World Map. The interview does not specify a menu sequence or whether the change is available during every point in a stage.

#1 Best Overall
- Get a mouthful of real-world objects for powerful transformations
- Join up with a pointy partner, Bandana Waddle Dee, in co-op play
- Join Kirby in an upgraded 3D platforming adventure and uncover the mystery of the meteor—only on the Nintendo Switch 2 system!
Use basic attacks
Nintendo’s developers also mention attacking with basic skills as an option. You do not have to rely on a complicated approach to get through a challenging encounter.
Prepare in Waddle Dee Town
Waddle Dee Town facilities can provide ways to prepare for bosses, according to the developer interview. The official account does not specify one required facility or preparation routine, so the useful step is to make use of the town’s available options before trying again.
Invite a second player locally
A second player can join within a stage as Bandana Waddle Dee and help with a challenging section. Nintendo’s game listing says one or two players can play on one system; this is local play, not a separate difficulty setting.
Is there an assist mode?
The official materials cited here describe Spring-Breeze and Wild as the game’s two difficulty modes. They do not identify a distinct setting named “assist mode,” nor do they establish a complete list of accessibility or controller options. Food, basic attacks, preparation in Waddle Dee Town, and local co-op are gameplay ways to get help rather than additional difficulty modes.
