Kingdom Hearts save compatibility at a glance
Kingdom Hearts saves are tied to the platform version in which they were created. The only officially documented cross-version transfers are within the Nintendo Switch family, and even those work in specific directions. A save created on one platform should not be assumed to work on another simply because the game or collection has the same name.

The matrix is directional. “Supported” does not mean that every Kingdom Hearts title can be mixed with every other title; it means the listed source and destination versions have an official transfer relationship.
Which Nintendo Switch transfers work?
Cloud Version to Nintendo Switch Version
This is the supported route for someone who played a Kingdom Hearts Switch Cloud Version and then bought the standard Nintendo Switch release. The source is specifically the Cloud Version, and the destination is the Nintendo Switch Version. The reverse route is not listed as supported, so a save made in the standard Switch release should not be expected to open in the Cloud Version.

Cloud Version to Nintendo Switch 2 Version
Square Enix also supports moving a Cloud Version save to the corresponding Nintendo Switch 2 digital version. This is the most relevant path for owners who used the cloud-streamed release and are replacing it with the native Switch 2 edition. The transfer is forward-only: Switch 2 data cannot be sent back to the Cloud Version.
Nintendo Switch Version to Nintendo Switch 2 Version
A save from the standard Nintendo Switch release can be transferred to the Nintendo Switch 2 Version. This lets an owner upgrade hardware and software without restarting, provided the source and destination are the versions covered by Square Enix’s compatibility list.
Unsupported reverse directions
- Nintendo Switch Version to Nintendo Switch Cloud Version is unsupported.
- Nintendo Switch 2 Version to Nintendo Switch Cloud Version is unsupported.
- Nintendo Switch 2 Version to Nintendo Switch Version is unsupported.
These restrictions matter when deciding which copy to buy. If you move to Switch 2, treat the Switch 2 save as the new forward version rather than a format you can later roll back to.

Can a Kingdom Hearts save move between Xbox, PlayStation and PC?
No. Square Enix Support states: “No. Save data is not compatible between different platforms and cannot be transferred or shared.” The published restriction covers PlayStation 5, Xbox and the Microsoft Store versions. A save from one of those platforms cannot be copied to another platform in that group.

This means an Xbox player moving to PC through the Microsoft Store should plan to start separately, and a PlayStation 5 player changing to Xbox or PC should do the same. The Nintendo Switch transfer rules do not create a general cross-platform save system; they are limited to the specific Nintendo versions listed by Square Enix.

What happens to a Switch Cloud save after sales ended?
Sales ended on June 9, 2026
Square Enix stopped selling the three Kingdom Hearts Switch Cloud titles and INTEGRUM MASTERPIECE at 14:59 UTC on June 9, 2026. New purchases of those Cloud releases are therefore no longer available through the former sales window.
Existing owners have access until June 9, 2027
If you already owned a Switch Cloud title, Square Enix says it remains playable until 14:59 UTC on June 9, 2027. This is an end-of-service deadline, not a promise of indefinite access. The date applies to continued play for existing purchases; it does not reopen sales of the Cloud versions.

Square Enix says owners can buy the corresponding Nintendo Switch 2 digital versions at a discount and transfer save data from Cloud Version to the digital version. Because the supported path is Cloud Version to Switch 2 Version, complete the move while the Cloud Version remains available and keep the original Cloud save until the destination save has been checked.
The deadline is expressed in UTC. If you are planning a last-minute move, convert 14:59 UTC to your local time and allow time for installation, account access and troubleshooting rather than waiting until the final day.

The page lists digital editions for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation, Xbox, Steam and Epic. It also lists physical editions for Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation. The physical and digital formats are editions of the collection, not a guarantee that saves can move between the platforms.

When choosing an edition, match the destination to the source save. A physical Switch 2 copy and a digital Switch 2 copy are both listed, but the transfer rule concerns the Nintendo Switch 2 Version and the corresponding title, not whether the purchase is physical or digital.
How to plan a supported transfer
1. Identify the exact source version
Check whether your existing progress is in the Nintendo Switch Cloud Version or the standard Nintendo Switch Version. Do not rely only on the collection’s name; the version determines which transfer path applies.
2. Choose a destination covered by the matrix
For a Cloud Version save, the supported destinations are Nintendo Switch Version and Nintendo Switch 2 Version. For a standard Nintendo Switch save, the supported forward destination is Nintendo Switch 2 Version. There is no supported route from Switch 2 back to either older version.
3. Obtain the corresponding destination title
Square Enix describes the Cloud-to-Switch 2 offer as a purchase of the corresponding Nintendo Switch 2 digital version. Make sure the destination edition contains the same Kingdom Hearts title whose save you are moving; a collection purchase does not turn one game’s save into another game’s save.

4. Keep the source data intact
Do not delete the Cloud Version or Nintendo Switch Version save before confirming the destination. The source is your recovery point if the first carry-over attempt fails.
5. Use the game’s transfer flow and verify each title
Launch the destination version and follow the transfer option presented for the supported source. Afterward, open each transferred title and check the expected save slot, story progress and other key data. The official compatibility statement establishes which directions are allowed; it does not state that a transfer merges multiple independent saves into one file.

Square Enix reported a carry-over issue affecting North American and European players on October 8, 2026. The company marked the issue fixed for new players. If your title was already affected, Square Enix provided a specific recovery procedure.
- Open the newly purchased Nintendo Switch 2 Version.
- Delete only that title’s save data from the newly purchased Switch 2 version.
- Keep the Nintendo Switch Cloud Version save data. Do not select the Cloud Version data for deletion.
- Close the game completely and restart it.
- Run the supported carry-over again and check the resulting save.
Square Enix warns that deleted data cannot be restored. Read the version and title name in the deletion screen carefully before confirming. If the screen does not clearly identify the newly purchased Switch 2 version, cancel rather than guessing.
The notice says the problem should not affect new players going forward. That statement does not restore data deleted from the wrong version, so preserving the Cloud Version save is the critical safeguard for anyone following the recovery steps.

Common mistakes and how to avoid them
Assuming “same collection” means cross-platform compatibility
The collection is sold on several platforms, but Square Enix explicitly says saves are not compatible between different platforms for PlayStation 5, Xbox and Microsoft Store. Treat each platform family as its own save environment unless a transfer direction is specifically listed.
Trying to transfer backward
Switch 2 to Switch Version, Switch 2 to Cloud Version and standard Switch Version to Cloud Version are unsupported. If you need access to an older copy, keep its original save rather than expecting the newer save to travel backward.
Deleting the source save during troubleshooting
The October 2026 recovery instructions require deleting the newly purchased Switch 2 save, not the Cloud Version save. Deleting the wrong data is irreversible according to Square Enix’s notice.

Existing Cloud owners have access only until 14:59 UTC on June 9, 2027. Installation and transfer checks take time, so start well before the cutoff and verify the destination before relying on it as your only copy.
Confusing a title with the whole collection
The collection contains three distinct component releases. A transfer applies to the corresponding title and version, so identify which component contains the save you want before buying or launching the destination edition.

What is known—and what is not
The official material establishes the supported Nintendo directions, the cross-platform restriction for PlayStation 5, Xbox and Microsoft Store, the Cloud sales and access deadlines, the October 2026 recovery steps, and the available collection formats. It does not publish a transfer success-rate percentage, a named independent test result or a general tool for converting saves between unrelated platforms. Any service or guide claiming a universal Kingdom Hearts save converter would go beyond these documented rules.
Bottom line
Use the Nintendo Switch transfer matrix as the rule: Cloud Version can move to Nintendo Switch Version or Nintendo Switch 2 Version, and standard Nintendo Switch saves can move to Nintendo Switch 2. None of the listed Nintendo paths works in reverse. PlayStation 5, Xbox and Microsoft Store saves stay on their original platform family. If you own a Switch Cloud release, plan the move before access ends at 14:59 UTC on June 9, 2027, and never delete the Cloud Version save when following the Switch 2 recovery procedure.
