Bitwarden is the better default for most cost-conscious individuals and households: its core plan is free across devices, its listed paid prices are lower, and its Families plan covers up to six people. Keeper may suit buyers who prefer its paid consumer plans or need the broader business security platform it describes. Neither can be declared universally more secure or easier to use on the available evidence.

How much do Keeper and Bitwarden cost?
Bitwarden’s pricing page lists these USD prices, billed annually and before tax: Premium at $19.80 per year, Families at $47.88 per year for up to six users, Teams at $4 per user per month, and Enterprise at $6 per user per month. The listed business rates are also billed annually.
Keeper’s support article, last updated April 1, 2026, lists Unlimited at $42.99 per year and Family at $91.99 per year after the consumer trial. That article does not fully establish the pricing page’s geographic scope or whether checkout discounts apply, so treat these as listed prices rather than guaranteed totals.

That makes it the more capable free option for someone who needs to access a vault across devices.
Keeper Free
Keeper Free is limited to one mobile device and ten records. Its current comparison also says the free plan does not include unlimited sync, sharing, a browser extension or web vault access; it does include two-factor authentication. Which is better for a family?
Bitwarden Families is listed at $47.88 per year for up to six users, with six premium accounts and unlimited sharing and collections. The six accounts are the account holder plus five others. Check the current pricing page for the live plan terms.
Keeper lists a Family plan at $91.99 per year after its consumer trial. The cited support article does not establish an equivalent user count or sharing limits, so do not assume the two family plans cover the same number of people or work identically. Check Keeper’s current plan details before comparing household cost.

Which is better for a business?
Start with the controls and deployment requirements your organization actually has; a longer feature list is not itself a security verdict.

Enterprise adds granular access control, passwordless SSO integration, enterprise policies and self-hosting flexibility. Confirm that the required controls are available in the plan you intend to buy and account for the annual per-user cost.
Keeper’s broader platform
Keeper positions its enterprise offering as a broader security platform that includes privileged access management, secrets management, secure database access and compliance capabilities. These are Keeper’s own platform claims on a vendor comparison page, not an independent evaluation of superiority.

For either provider, check identity-provider integration, provisioning, audit and event logs, user lifecycle and recovery, self-hosting, support expectations, regulatory requirements and the cost of any necessary add-ons. The right fit depends on which of those are requirements rather than nice-to-haves.

Bitwarden publishes instructions for importing Keeper exports, and Keeper says its import tool supports Bitwarden exports. Before switching, confirm the current export format and import steps in the destination service’s documentation. Then inspect the imported entries for missing or misformatted data. Export files can contain plaintext or otherwise sensitive vault data, so securely delete them once you have verified the migration.

No. A hardware key is an optional extra, not a prerequisite for either password manager. Bitwarden lists hardware security keys among its two-step-login methods; Keeper identifies FIDO2 security keys as a paid-plan feature. Compatibility depends on the account, browser and device, so check those details before buying a key.

Is Keeper or Bitwarden more secure or easier to use?
The available material does not support a categorical winner on security or usability. Bitwarden’s pricing page describes open-source security, zero-knowledge encryption, advanced two-step login and passkey management; those are vendor descriptions, not independent proof that Bitwarden is safer. The sources do not provide directly comparable independent security findings or app-experience testing for the two products.
For a decision, compare the specific features and controls you will use, including supported two-step-login methods, recovery options and—if applicable—business administration and deployment. Do not substitute a vendor’s broad superiority claim for evidence about your requirements.
