Go to Settings > Audio > Voice Chat, confirm voice chat is enabled, review its volume and audience settings, and make sure the players you want to hear are not muted. Then test the mic in Xbox party chat or another game to see whether the problem is limited to Warzone.
Check Warzone’s voice-chat settings first
Warzone’s in-game voice controls are separate from the headset itself. Activision’s communication settings guidance lists voice-chat controls under Settings > Audio > Voice Chat. Menu wording or placement can change with game updates or locale.

- Open Settings > Audio > Voice Chat. Confirm that voice chat is enabled.
- Check voice-chat volume. Raise it if voices are too quiet or inaudible.
- Review the voice-chat audience or channel selection. Ensure it includes the teammates you are trying to communicate with. Some voice controls may also be available from the pre-game lobby.
If teammates cannot hear you but you can hear them, still check these settings: the game’s voice-chat controls affect communication, and a selected audience that excludes your teammates may account for the difference.

Check whether a player is muted
Warzone includes player-level mute controls. Open the scoreboard or voice controls and check whether the relevant teammate is muted. Activision’s communication guidance also describes managing voice-chat options through the Audio settings. If the problem affects only one player, check that player’s mute state before changing headset or network settings.

Find out whether the problem is Warzone-only
Try the microphone in Xbox party chat or another game. This comparison is a practical diagnostic, not a published Xbox test protocol: it helps separate an in-game setting problem from a broader headset, connection, or console chat problem.

Check for a recognized Warzone issue
Review Activision’s Warzone known-issues page for a reported voice-chat problem. The page has included a notice that a fix was deployed to restore voice and text chat; that notice does not establish that an Xbox-specific microphone outage is happening now. Treat it as a place to check for recognized issues, not proof of a current service failure.
When network checks make sense
Do not start by changing router settings when the only symptom is a microphone failure. Activision’s connection guidance recommends checking platform service status and Xbox network connectivity for broader online-game connection problems. Those checks may be relevant if Warzone is also disconnecting or having wider online issues, but they are not a microphone-specific fix.

Use the symptom to choose the next step
- Only one teammate is affected: check that player’s mute state and whether your selected voice-chat audience includes them.
- Warzone alone is affected: focus on the game’s Audio > Voice Chat settings and player controls.
- Party chat and other games fail too: follow the Xbox headset troubleshooting path and inspect the headset connection.
- Voice chat fails alongside broader online problems: check Activision’s known issues and the relevant platform or network status.
