Its 39-inch size, glossy finish and 165 Hz native refresh rate make it a more specific fit than a universal “best” pick: desk space, room reflections and the games you play should decide whether it suits you.
What the Alienware AW3926QW offers
Dell markets the AW3926QW as the Alienware 39 5K OLED Gaming Monitor. RTINGS identifies it as a 39-inch curved OLED with a glossy screen, native resolution of 5120×2160 and an RGB subpixel layout. These specifications combine an unusually wide, detailed image with OLED contrast; the panel’s scale also means it needs more desk and viewing space than a conventional desktop monitor. Is the AW3926QW worth buying?
It is worth considering if your priorities are an expansive ultrawide image, native 5K2K-class detail, OLED contrast and the flexibility to switch to a faster mode for competitive games. It is a less natural fit if you have a small desk, cannot control reflections, or want the highest refresh rate at the monitor’s full native resolution.

TechSpot used “The 39-Inch OLED to Buy” as its review headline. Tom’s Guide reviewer Tony Polanco described it as “Alienware’s finest gaming monitor yet” in a review published 27 August 2026. Tom’s Hardware’s review, also published 27 August 2026, received that publication’s Editor’s Choice mark. Those endorsements support a strong recommendation for the right setup—not a claim that it is the best OLED for every buyer.

Choose between 165 Hz detail and 330 Hz speed
The dual-mode feature is a real choice between image detail and refresh rate. At the native 5120×2160 resolution, the display runs at 165 Hz. Its 330 Hz mode uses a lower resolution, so it is intended for situations where motion speed matters more than full-resolution sharpness. Consult the monitor’s on-screen settings and your game’s resolution options when switching modes.
- Use native 5120×2160 at 165 Hz when you want the monitor’s full resolution for detailed games and general use.
- Use the lower-resolution 330 Hz mode when you play games where maximum refresh is more important than fine detail.
PC Gamer notes that 165 Hz at native resolution is lower than the 240 Hz commonly available on 32-inch 4K OLED monitors. That is a comparison between different screen sizes, resolutions and refresh targets, not proof that either format is better for every player. A smaller display may better suit someone who prioritizes high refresh at full resolution; the AW3926QW favors a much larger, wider image and offers its top refresh in a lower-resolution mode.

How it handles text, reflections and desk space
Text clarity
RTINGS says the RGB subpixel layout is intended to reduce letter fringing compared with some OLED layouts that include a dedicated white subpixel. It also found less fringing relative to the LG 39GX950B-B’s white-subpixel arrangement. That is a design advantage, not a guarantee that every font, operating system or viewer will find text perfect; if you work with text for long stretches, check how it looks at your usual scaling and viewing distance.

Glossy screen and room lighting
The glossy surface can produce a clearer-looking image, while a matte finish can reduce glare more effectively. In RTINGS’ comparison, the LG 39GX950B-B’s matte coating reduced glare better, while the Dell’s glossy coating produced clearer images. Windows, lamps and bright objects behind you can therefore matter as much as panel specifications. If reflections are difficult to avoid, a matte display may be the more comfortable choice.

- INFINITELY IMMERSIVE: Quantum Dot Display Technology enables a slim panel design and delivers a superior color performance with a higher peak luminance and greater color gamut range vs WOLED (White OLED) by taking the impressive qualities of OLED (such as true blacks & infinite contrast ratio) and enhances color performance by directly converting blue light into the primary colors of red and green through a Quantum Dot pixel layer.
- STUTTER-FREE SPEED: Experience ultra-low latency gameplay, support for HDR and cinematic color, plus smooth, tear-free gaming thanks to AMD FreeSync Premium Pro Technology and VESA AdaptiveSync Display certification.
- IMPECCABLE DESIGN: The jaw-dropping new design features a sleek QD-OLED curved 1800R panel integrated into the iconic new Legend 2.0 ID, plus customizable RGB AlienFX lighting, 360° ventilation for better heat dissipation, improved cable management and a new centralized OSD 5-Axis joystick to make adjusting your settings easier. The height adjustable stand with height markers and the tilt, swivel, and slant capabilities allow for easy viewing adjustment.
- FOR CRITICAL CREATING: For content creators and game developers who require precise color-critical work, the new Creator Mode feature was designed for you. This OSD menu option allows you the flexibility to choose between the native (DCI-P3) and the sRGB color space, depending on your work needs, and the ability to adjust the gamma settings.
- QUALITY ASSURANCE GUARANTEED: The new Alienware 34 Curved QD-OLED Gaming Monitor comes with improved OLED reliability and a 3-year premium warranty, including coverage for OLED burn-in, for additional peace of mind.
Fit on your desk
A 39-inch ultrawide takes substantial horizontal space and can fill more of your field of view than a standard monitor. Tom’s Guide says a relatively large desk is needed for comfortable use. Measure the usable width and depth of your desk, and consider your normal viewing distance and nearby windows before ordering. Do not assume a mount or arm will solve a fit problem without confirming the monitor’s mounting requirements, weight and clearance.

The most useful comparison is not simply which display has the bigger headline number. Think about resolution at native refresh, alternative refresh modes, text rendering, screen finish, physical size and regional availability. RTINGS compares the Dell with the LG 39GX950B-B and notes that the Dell has better bright-color volume, while the LG’s matte coating reduces glare more effectively. RTINGS also identifies the Alienware AW3426DW as a smaller, lower-resolution alternative.

- QD-OLED technology enables stunningly rich color and clarity, while QHD resolution (2560x1440) provides high level of detail.
- 360Hz refresh rate translates to superb motion clarity, empowering players to see and react to in-game situations at high speed.
- 0.03 ms gray-to-gray minimum response time** virtually eliminates blurring and ghosting and keeps latency to an absolute minimum.
- Infinite contrast ratio and VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 make for deep blacks and stunning brights, all in the same scene.
- Excellent color performance with DCI-P3 99.3% color coverage and Delta E<2 accuracy for true-to-life visuals.
Current prices and availability vary by region and can change, so check the relevant manufacturer pages before deciding rather than assuming one model is cheaper. The AW3926QW’s clearest case is for someone who wants a large 5120×2160 OLED and accepts 165 Hz at that resolution; a smaller screen or a different surface finish may be preferable if those are your main constraints.
