Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteNeither Kamatera nor Hetzner is a defensible universal winner. Kamatera stands out if you need flexible server sizing, minute-based hourly billing, or a listed Windows option. Hetzner is worth comparing if its shared or dedicated cloud server classes, available regions, and infrastructure features fit your workload. The better choice depends on the exact configuration, location, operating system, and full monthly bill—not a starting-price headline.
The figures below reflect provider-published information available in October 2026. Prices, plan availability, and terms can change; confirm them for your chosen region before ordering.

How Kamatera and Hetzner compare
| Factor | Kamatera | Hetzner Cloud |
|---|---|---|
| Compute options | Its pricing calculator lets customers configure servers. The listed Basic example has 1 vCPU and 1 GB RAM; the source does not establish whether that CPU is dedicated. | Offers shared-resource plans, including cost-optimized and regular-performance categories, as well as dedicated-CPU general-purpose servers. Match the class to the workload before comparing cost or performance. |
| Entry example | The official pricing page lists a Basic server at $4/month with 1 vCPU, 1 GB RAM, 20 GB NVMe SSD, 5 TB traffic, and Ubuntu. This is a vendor-listed example, not a matched comparison. | CPX02, announced October 6, 2026, has 1 vCPU, 1 GB RAM, and 20 GB storage. Its current price is not stated in the announcement; check live pricing for the relevant location. |
| Billing and usage charges | The pricing page says hourly servers are billed by the minute. It lists additional traffic at $0.01/GB and additional storage at $0.05/GB/month. | Provider documentation says servers are billed while they exist, even when not actively used. Check current billing terms for the selected product and location. |
| Locations | Official product information describes a global network, but the reviewed pricing information does not establish a precise current location list. | Current product information lists Germany, Finland, the United States, and Singapore. CPX02 was announced for FSN1, HEL1, NBG1, and SIN. |
| Operating systems | The pricing page lists Linux options as well as Windows Server and Windows Desktop. | Hetzner focuses on Linux support. Users may install Windows themselves, but Hetzner says it does not support that setup. |
| Networking and add-ons | Listed products include virtual private cloud, firewall, load balancers, and block storage. Confirm which add-ons and charges apply to your configuration. | Product information lists networks, firewalls, backups, snapshots, floating IPs, block storage, object storage, and load balancers. Public IPs are not included by default according to Hetzner documentation; IPv6 Primary IPs are free and IPv4 Primary IPs have an additional monthly charge. The documentation’s stated IPv4 price dates to 2022 and should not be treated as current without verification. |
| Performance evidence | No controlled, workload-matched independent comparison with Hetzner was established. | No controlled, workload-matched independent comparison with Kamatera was established. |
Provider descriptions and prices are not independent test results. Hetzner’s product page claims its cloud service wins on price-performance and says its comparison uses Sparecores benchmark data; that is Hetzner’s own characterization, not a direct test of your workload against Kamatera.

Which platform is cheaper?
The available figures do not establish an overall price winner. Kamatera’s $4/month Basic listing is a provider-published starting example, while Hetzner’s recent CPX02 announcement does not state a price. Even two servers with similar vCPU and memory can differ in storage type, traffic allowance, IP charges, resource sharing, region, and add-ons.
#1 Best Overall
Build the comparison around the bill you expect to pay, not the smallest advertised number. Include:
- Compute class and whether CPU resources are shared or dedicated.
- Memory, storage capacity and type, and any additional volumes.
- Expected outbound traffic and the provider’s included allowance or overage charge.
- Public IPv4 requirements and charges, plus any other IP or networking costs.
- Backups, snapshots, firewalls, load balancers, and other required features.
- The region required for latency, data-residency, or compliance reasons.
- How billing works when you stop, delete, or leave a server unused.
For Kamatera, the listed extra-traffic and extra-storage rates can help estimate those line items, but confirm the live calculator and terms before relying on them. For Hetzner, check the current price for the exact plan and region, and include any public IP or add-on charges. Its documentation’s IPv4 amount is historical, not a verified current price.

Which one fits your workload?
Choose Kamatera if its configuration and operating-system options fit
Kamatera is a plausible fit when you want to configure a server through its calculator, need a listed Windows Server or Windows Desktop option, or expect to use hourly billing. Its pricing page advertises a 30-day trial with up to $100 of services on one server. Trial eligibility and terms can change, so verify them before treating the offer as available to you.
Choose Hetzner if its resource class and location fit
Hetzner may fit workloads that can run on its Linux-focused platform and benefit from choosing between shared and dedicated cloud resources. Its current product material lists locations in Germany, Finland, the United States, and Singapore; confirm that your specific plan is offered in the region you need. The CPX02 announcement names FSN1, HEL1, NBG1, and SIN for that plan.

For production workloads, decide from requirements rather than a generic winner
If your application needs predictable dedicated CPU, compare dedicated resources rather than assuming that similarly sized shared plans behave alike. If it needs Windows with provider support, Kamatera’s listed operating-system options are relevant; Hetzner says it does not support a user-installed Windows setup. If latency or data residency matters, first eliminate plans that are unavailable in the required location. No matched independent benchmark here establishes which provider will be faster for a particular application.
How to make a fair, matched comparison
- Write down the workload. Record expected CPU demand, memory use, storage capacity and performance needs, monthly traffic, operating system, and required region.
- Select comparable resource classes. Compare shared with shared or dedicated with dedicated where possible. A dedicated-CPU server is not an equivalent price comparison for a shared-vCPU plan.
- Check regional availability. Confirm that the exact plan—not just the provider generally—is available in the location you need.
- Price the full configuration. Add compute, storage, traffic, public IPs, backups, and other required services. Check whether a server continues to incur charges when powered off or otherwise unused.
- Verify operating-system support and licensing. Distinguish an available image from an installation the provider will support, especially for Windows.
- Check operational terms. Confirm scaling behavior, billing rules, support commitments, and current service-level terms directly with the provider before choosing a production host.
- Test your application if performance is decisive. Use the same workload, software, region, and measurement method on the plans under consideration. A provider’s marketing comparison cannot substitute for a workload-matched test.
What the published figures do—and do not—show
Kamatera’s official pricing page, accessed October 7, 2026, lists its $4/month Basic example, the additional traffic and storage rates above, and the trial offer. Those are vendor-published figures that may change; they do not show the final price for every configuration or establish value against a matched Hetzner plan.
Hetzner’s October 6, 2026 CPX02 announcement provides its resources and named locations, but not a price. Hetzner documentation last changed in 2022 says IPv4 Primary IPs have an additional monthly charge; its historical €0.50/month figure, excluding VAT, is not safe to present as the current charge. Verify the live price and applicable terms before ordering.
