Does Thumbalizr still offer full-page screenshots?
Thumbalizr’s home page continues to present its screenshot service and offers API-key registration. Its API documentation describes size=page for full-page capture and size=screen for a viewport-sized image. This is evidence that the service currently advertises the feature, not independent confirmation that every request will succeed.

The published tier information distinguishes free and paid use. The API documentation lists free accounts as screen-only, while Silver, Gold, and Platinum can request page-sized captures. Thumbalizr’s demo likewise lists full-page capture for Silver and above; the free demo is screen-only and watermarked.
Why might full-page capture not work on a free account?
The documented free tier does not include full-page sizing. A request made with size=page may therefore not provide the result you expect if the account lacks access to that option. Check your current membership and account settings before troubleshooting the URL or assuming the service is down.

The demo page describes the free capture as fixed at 1280 × 1024, with a watermark. It lists full-page capture without a watermark for Silver, and custom delay and larger browser dimensions—up to 2000 pixels in width and height—for Gold and Platinum. What changed in Thumbalizr’s backend?
In a post dated April 8, 2026, Thumbalizr announced a phased transition from its Browshot-powered backend to ScreenshotCenter. The post says new accounts would use ScreenshotCenter first, followed by existing accounts moving in batches over the coming weeks. Thumbalizr stated that existing integrations, API calls, embed codes, and settings would remain unchanged.

That announcement describes the migration plan, not a live status report proving every legacy account has moved. It also presents faster processing, fewer failures, and newer Firefox rendering as expected benefits without publishing a benchmark or independently attributable uptime figure. Treat additional capabilities mentioned in the post—including more capture locations, filtering, video, PDF export, and broader device emulation—as planned or progressive unless your account confirms they are currently available.
How do you check a Thumbalizr API result?
Thumbalizr’s Embed API requires an API key and a token derived from the request query string and your secret. Its documentation warns that parameters, especially the target URL, must be encoded carefully. Consult the current API documentation for the precise request format and signing rules; do not expose your secret in client-side code.

Do not treat a successful HTTP request as proof that an image was generated. Thumbalizr documents the X-Thumbalizr-Status response header with these values:
QUEUED: the capture is queued rather than confirmed complete.OK: the capture completed successfully.FAILED: the capture failed; inspect the documented error information, includingX-Thumbalizr-Error.
The docs also name X-Thumbalizr-Generated. Check the response headers and the generated result in your integration, then verify that the account is entitled to request page-sized output.

What should you do if a full-page request fails?
- Free account or unexpected viewport-sized image: the documented free tier is screen-only. Confirm that your account has a paid tier with page-sized capture access.
- Status is
QUEUED: the docs do not define this as a completed capture. Check your integration’s handling of the result and follow the API documentation for retrieving or waiting on the finished capture. - Status is
FAILED: inspectX-Thumbalizr-Errorand the returned response, then check URL encoding, authentication, and requested options against the API docs. - API key or token rejected: verify the key, secret-derived token, and exact query-string encoding. Keep the secret on a server you control.
- Legacy integration behaves differently: the migration announcement says compatibility is intended, but does not establish migration completion for every account. Check the account’s current status and Thumbalizr’s documentation or support channel.
The reviewed Thumbalizr pages do not publish an independently measured uptime or reliability statistic. A reachable home page and a current product announcement are signs of service activity, not a service-level guarantee.
