MacawHost may suit buyers who want a choice of shared, managed WordPress, VPS and dedicated hosting, but the available performance evidence does not point to one universal winner. In HostAdvice reviewer Walter Akolo’s hands-on tests of one VPS and one dedicated server, the VPS delivered stronger single-thread CPU and disk results; the dedicated server stood out for network throughput and physical isolation. Those results describe only the two tested configurations, not every MacawHost plan.
MacawHost advertises entry prices from $2.49/month for shared hosting, $5.99/month for WordPress, $3.49/month for VPS and $49/month for bare metal. The advertised monthly figures may depend on a longer billing commitment. Check the checkout total, current service terms and refund policy for your specific product before ordering.

What MacawHost offers
MacawHost sells shared hosting, managed WordPress hosting, VPS plans and bare-metal servers. The company’s homepage lists entry prices and advertises a 99.99% uptime SLA, 24/7 support and a 14-day money-back guarantee. These are current company-published claims, not independently measured service outcomes. The surfaced sources do not establish long-term uptime through independent monitoring. MacawHost’s homepage

What the performance tests found
Akolo tested an L-Ultra VPS with 8 vCPU, 16 GB RAM and 150 GB NVMe storage, and a dedicated system with dual Intel Xeon Gold 6138 processors and 256 GB RAM. These were one configuration of each type. The VPS tests were associated with New York Metro City and Sofia; the dedicated network tests were run from Sofia, so the network figures are not a strict location-matched comparison. HostAdvice’s MacawHost review, updated August 23, 2026
| Reported measure | Tested L-Ultra VPS | Tested P-Gold 6138 dedicated server |
|---|---|---|
| Single-thread CPU throughput | 2,299.50 events/sec at 0.43 ms average latency | 458.56 events/sec at 2.18 ms |
| Multi-thread CPU throughput | 17,444.41 events/sec across 8 threads at 0.46 ms | 23,067.37 events/sec across 80 threads at 3.47 ms |
| Reported disk results | Stronger disk results than the tested dedicated server, according to the reviewer; specific VPS figures not stated in the review summary | 402 MB/s sequential write; 539 MB/s sequential read; 24,600 IOPS for each reported random 4K mixed read/write result |
| Network results | 1 Gbps cap; upload readings around 950 Mbps | From Sofia: approximately 9.2–9.3 Gbps download and 9.3 Gbps upload, with zero packet loss in both runs |
The reviewer also reports that a three-minute CPU, memory and disk stress test on the VPS recorded zero failures and zero untrustworthy metrics. That brief test is an observation from this configuration, not a service-wide reliability guarantee.

Is MacawHost VPS faster than dedicated?
In this specific comparison, the tested VPS had higher reported single-thread CPU throughput and stronger disk results. The dedicated server had higher reported throughput across its 80-thread test and much greater tested network capacity. Akolo characterized the outcome this way: “The cheaper VPS plan beat the flagship dedicated server on two key metrics.” That describes his comparison, not a general rule that VPS is faster than dedicated—or vice versa.
Workload changes which result matters. A database-heavy application may benefit more from responsive CPU performance and storage; a service with high outbound traffic may value the dedicated machine’s tested network throughput. Dedicated hardware can also matter when physical isolation or licensing requirements are decisive. Results from these two systems cannot predict performance on lower-tier plans, at other locations, at other times or under your workload.

How to choose between VPS and dedicated
Compare the actual plan and workload rather than the product label. In particular, check the server location against your audience, required CPU response and thread capacity, storage needs, outbound bandwidth, isolation or licensing rules, and the full billing commitment.
- Consider shared hosting for a smaller website if its resource limits and included features fit your needs.
- Consider managed WordPress when you want a WordPress-focused plan and its listed site, storage and resource caps are sufficient.
- Consider a VPS when you need virtualized resources and the chosen tier, location and network capacity fit the application. The reviewer reported limited VPS location choice; verify current locations before purchase.
- Consider dedicated hardware when physical isolation, licensing compliance or high outbound capacity matter enough to justify the higher listed cost. Do not assume it will win every CPU or disk test.
Uptime, support, security and refunds
Is the 99.99% uptime claim independently verified?
No independent long-term uptime monitoring is established in the available sources. MacawHost advertises a 99.99% uptime SLA on its homepage; treat that as the company’s claim and read the current SLA for its scope, exclusions and remedies rather than interpreting it as measured uptime. MacawHost
Support and security configuration
MacawHost advertises 24/7 customer support. In his own support test, Akolo says his ticket received a response in 14 minutes. One ticket does not establish a typical response time. He also reported that a firewall was not enabled by default on the VPS setup he tested. Confirm the current configuration and security defaults for the exact product, then apply the protections your workload requires. HostAdvice’s review

MacawHost’s homepage advertises a 14-day money-back guarantee. HostAdvice reports 14-day refund terms for VPS and 7 days for dedicated servers. Because those statements differ by product and source, confirm the applicable terms, exclusions and deadline for the service you intend to buy before paying. MacawHost homepage · HostAdvice review
Verdict: who should consider MacawHost?
MacawHost is worth considering if its current plan limits, location, support terms and total price fit your needs. The available review offers a useful but narrow performance signal: the tested VPS led on single-thread CPU and disk results, while the tested dedicated server led on network throughput and provided physical isolation. Use those results to frame questions for your own workload, not as a prediction for every tier. Before committing, verify the live price and billing term, location, security defaults, add-ons and product-specific refund rules.
