Pixel 9 support for Google’s reported upgraded screen savers has not been confirmed. Reports dated August 20, 2026 describe the new options on Pixel 11, but do not establish that they are rolling out to Pixel 9. You can check your phone’s current options at Settings > Display & touch > Screen saver.
What changed in the reported Pixel 11 screen saver update?
Reports from 9to5Google and Android Authority describe a redesigned screen saver experience on Pixel 11. It includes a “Charge” screen saver that displays a large battery percentage, 80% and 100% charging markers, and the time. The reports also describe more configurable digital and analog clock styles, plus the ability to choose multiple screen savers and switch between them.

9to5Google says users can switch between active screen savers by swiping inward from the edge of the display. These details are reporting about Pixel 11, not an official Google announcement confirming support for Pixel 9. 9to5Google’s Pixel 11 screen saver report and Android Authority’s report on the Charge screen saver and clock styles were both published August 20, 2026.

No. Google’s September 15, 2026 Pixel Drop announcement covers other features and does not mention the screen saver redesign. That omission does not rule out a later, separate update, but the announcement does not verify that Pixel 9 is getting these changes.

Google explains that Android feature updates can arrive through Google Play services or app updates, while Pixel Drops deliver device-specific features through system settings or Pixel updates. Rollouts may be gradual, and some features depend on hardware or software requirements. That general guidance does not establish Pixel 9 eligibility for this particular screen saver update. See Android’s feature update guide.
How to check and configure your Pixel’s current screen saver
Google’s Pixel Help guide documents screen savers that can appear while a phone is charging or docked. Available content includes photos, colorful backgrounds, clocks, weather, charging status, and home controls. Some steps in Google’s guide require Android 14 or later.

Google says weather requires location permission set to “Always allow,” and a photo frame requires access to photos and media. In dim surroundings, low light mode can switch to a low light clock or turn off the screen; the low light clock is the default behavior in dim conditions. You can swipe inward from the display edge to switch between active screen savers, or touch and hold for an overview. See Google’s Pixel screen saver setup guide.
Why might the new options be missing?
If you do not see “Charge,” multiple screen saver choices, or the expanded clock styles, the available reporting does not establish that those options are available on Pixel 9. First check the Screen saver menu to see which features your phone offers; Google’s general rollout guidance allows for gradual availability, but it does not confirm this update for your model.

A stand is not documented as a requirement for the general screen saver feature: Google describes use while charging or docked. A charging stand may suit a docked display setup, but there is no evidence that it unlocks the reported Pixel 11 Charge screen saver on Pixel 9.
