For an existing Ghost of Yōtei owner, Echoes of Sekigahara is usually worth buying if you will also play Most Wanted. The paid expansion combines a compact solo story with a replayable combat-survival mode, so its value does not depend entirely on how many hours the narrative takes. If you want only a long, one-and-done campaign, wait for a sale. New players should compare the Complete Edition rather than purchasing the upgrade.
Quick answer: who should buy it?
| Player situation | What makes sense | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Already own Ghost of Yōtei and want story plus repeatable combat | Buy the Complete Edition Upgrade for $14.99 USD | The expansion adds Echoes of Sekigahara and Most Wanted, giving you both a finite narrative and repeatable solo runs. |
| Already own the base game but want only a long story | Wait for a sale | The available hands-on estimate describes a compact expansion rather than a campaign-sized addition. |
| Do not own Ghost of Yōtei | Compare the $69.99 USD Complete Edition | It bundles the base game, Echoes of Sekigahara, Most Wanted, Ghost of Yōtei Legends and bonus content. |
| Want free extra play rather than paid solo content | Download Ghost of Yōtei Legends | It is free for owners, but its main focus is cooperative play and online multiplayer requires PlayStation Plus. |

What Echoes of Sekigahara actually adds
Sucker Punch describes Echoes of Sekigahara as a narrative expansion rather than a separate game. Its story moves between Atsu’s present and flashbacks to her time on the mainland. The setting expands into Nagato, an Ezo valley that was formerly occupied by the Vipers, and the narrative includes the Battle of Sekigahara.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Andrew Goldfarb, Sucker Punch’s senior communications manager, called it “our new narrative expansion.” That wording is useful when setting expectations: Echoes is additional story content for people who already know Atsu’s world, not a replacement for the base game’s full-length adventure.
The story component
The narrative material is built around Atsu and the newly introduced Nagato region. Because the plot alternates between the present and mainland flashbacks, it is not simply a linear tour through another map. The Battle of Sekigahara and the history of the Vipers provide the expansion’s historical and character context.
Equipment and combat additions
New enemies and heavy weapons change how encounters are approached, while armor sets and dyes give completion-minded players more to collect. The store listing’s mention of a new weapon type and area confirms that the package is more than a handful of missions, but the available official descriptions do not assign a separate hour count to each feature.
How long is the Ghost of Yōtei DLC?
The publisher does not provide an official completion-time statistic in the announcement or store listing covered here. Tom’s Guide writer Nikita Achanta reports that the Ashoro Foothills area and all of its side activities can be completed in under 10 hours. That is a hands-on estimate, not a guaranteed runtime.

Your result can be shorter if you follow the critical path and longer if you explore, collect equipment, replay fights or take breaks between objectives. “Under 10 hours” should therefore be read as a practical estimate for the named area and its side activities, not as a promise that every player will finish the entire paid package in that time.
Most Wanted changes the calculation because it is designed for repeat play rather than a fixed sequence of chapters. A player who only wants the story may see the purchase as brief. Someone who enjoys improving runs, experimenting with perks and chasing unlocks can continue using the same content after the narrative is complete.
Does Most Wanted make the DLC worth buying?
Most Wanted is a single-player combat-survival mode that Sucker Punch presents as its roguelike take on the series. You accept bounties, fight waves and bosses, select perks and work toward additional characters, weapons and cosmetics.
Recommended Free Tools
Tom’s Guide says the mode held its attention for several days through repeatable combat runs. That observation does not establish a fixed amount of playtime for every buyer, but it explains why the expansion can offer more value than its story length suggests.

- Sleek 7-in-1 USB-C Hub: Features an HDMI port, two USB-A 3.0 ports, and a USB-C data port, each providing 5Gbps transfer speeds. It also includes a USB-C PD input port for charging up to 100W and dual SD and TF card slots, all in a compact design.
- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)

- Fast and Reliable 85W Charging: Offers high-capacity, speedy charging for laptops up to 85W, so you spend less time tethered to an outlet and more time being productive.

What you do in a run
- Accept a bounty and enter a combat sequence.
- Survive enemy waves that culminate in boss encounters.
- Choose perks that shape the current run.
- Use successful runs to unlock additional characters, weapons and cosmetics.
The mode is explicitly single-player. It should not be confused with Ghost of Yōtei Legends, the separate free cooperative DLC. Most Wanted is the paid package’s replayability engine for players who prefer solo combat.
Playable characters
The official description names Atsu, Oyuki, Nagato and Jin Sakai as playable characters in Most Wanted. Their inclusion broadens the combat sandbox, but it does not mean the mode supplies four additional story campaigns. Treat the roster as a reason to replay combat, not as a promise of several new narrative arcs.
Price paths: upgrade or Complete Edition?
| Purchase path | Listed US price | Includes | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Complete Edition Upgrade for existing owners | $14.99 USD | Access to the paid expansion package for players who already own Ghost of Yōtei | Current owners who want Echoes of Sekigahara and Most Wanted without buying the base game again |
| Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition | $69.99 USD | Base game, Echoes of Sekigahara, Most Wanted, Ghost of Yōtei Legends and bonus content | New buyers choosing the all-in package |
The Complete Edition is the relevant comparison for someone who has not bought the game. An existing owner should look for the upgrade path in the PlayStation Store; purchasing the full edition again would duplicate the base-game purchase rather than provide a better value calculation.
The figures are 2026 US prices, not a permanent worldwide price list. Currency conversion, taxes, regional storefront rules and temporary sales can change what appears at checkout. The physical-product keyword path is the Complete Edition, but availability should be verified in the live retailer listing for your region.

When the short campaign is still a good purchase
You value a focused story
A short expansion can be a strength if you prefer a self-contained return to a familiar setting instead of another open-ended commitment. Echoes concentrates its new material around Nagato, Atsu’s flashbacks and the Battle of Sekigahara, so the purchase suits players who want a defined story detour.
You will replay combat
Most Wanted is the strongest argument for buying at the standard upgrade price. Bounties, waves, bosses, perks and unlocks provide a loop that can outlast the story for players who enjoy learning encounters and refining builds.
You are collecting the complete package
New weapons, armor sets, dyes and other additions give completionists reasons to investigate the new area after the narrative ends. The value is higher when collecting and experimentation are part of how you normally play.
When waiting for a sale is the smarter choice
You want only a substantial one-time campaign
If your definition of value is a long, linear story and you do not expect to replay combat runs, the expansion’s compact scope may not meet your threshold at the regular upgrade price. A discount lowers that risk without changing the content.
Best Value
- 5-in-1 Connectivity: Equipped with a 4K HDMI port, a 5 Gbps USB-C data port, two 5 Gbps USB-A ports, and a USB C 100W PD-IN port. Note: The USB C 100W PD-IN port supports only charging and does not support data transfer devices such as headphones or speakers.
- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
You do not enjoy roguelike-style repetition
Most Wanted’s structure depends on repeated runs, perk choices and combat improvement. Players who dislike wave survival, boss retries or randomized-style run decisions may not use the feature that extends the package’s useful life.
You already have plenty of unfinished games
A short expansion is easy to postpone because it does not require the same time commitment as a full release. Waiting for a sale is reasonable when you are unlikely to start immediately; the story content does not become longer while it sits in your library.
Free alternative: Ghost of Yōtei Legends
Ghost of Yōtei Legends is free DLC for all Ghost of Yōtei owners. PlayStation describes two-player story missions, four-player survival matches, four classes and supernatural versions of the Yōtei Six.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsLegends is the better no-cost option for players whose priority is additional multiplayer activity. It is not a substitute for Echoes of Sekigahara’s Atsu-focused narrative or Most Wanted’s solo bounty runs. Online multiplayer requires a PlayStation Plus subscription, so “free DLC” refers to the content itself; online access still depends on that membership requirement.
Release timing and access
The paid content arrived through patch v2.0 on October 1, 2026, globally, with some territories receiving it on October 2. If the expansion does not appear, install the current game update, restart the console and check the account’s regional PlayStation Store page for the correct edition or upgrade entitlement.
Before you buy
- Confirm that your account owns the base version of Ghost of Yōtei if you intend to purchase the upgrade.
- Check that the storefront region and currency match the price you are evaluating.
- Read the edition contents carefully: Echoes of Sekigahara and Most Wanted are paid additions, while Ghost of Yōtei Legends is the free DLC.
- Decide whether you will play repeatable solo combat. If not, value the purchase primarily as a short story expansion.
- Check for a sale before checkout, because promotional pricing and availability change by region and date.
What the DLC does not promise
- No official publisher runtime figure is provided in the reviewed announcement or store listing.
- The under-10-hour number is a Tom’s Guide hands-on estimate for the Ashoro Foothills area and its side activities, not a guaranteed completion time.
- Most Wanted’s additional characters are playable combat options, not evidence of four separate story campaigns.
- Ghost of Yōtei Legends is separate free cooperative content, not part of Echoes of Sekigahara’s solo narrative.
Final buying guidance
Existing owners who can see themselves playing Most Wanted should feel comfortable with the official US upgrade price: Echoes supplies the new narrative, while Most Wanted supplies the repeatable value. Existing owners who want only a lengthy story should wait for a discount, because the best available runtime evidence points to a compact experience. New players should choose between the base game plus the Complete Edition’s bundled content, with the all-in edition listed at $69.99 USD in 2026. Players seeking free extra hours can start with Legends, provided they are looking for cooperative play and meet the PlayStation Plus requirement for online multiplayer.
