Based on the Steam Deck test published October 6, 2026, probably not yet. Steam Deck HQ’s Noah Kupetsky reported considerable visual artifacting and concluded that bbport did not make a strong enough case to switch from emulation on the setup he tried. That is a reviewer’s finding, not a result established across every Deck or later build.
The word “native” needs qualification, too: bbport runs Bloodborne’s x86-64 CPU code directly on the PC, but its graphics path uses a modified shadPS4 core. It is a single-game project with a custom compatibility runtime, not an official PC release with an entirely independent native graphics implementation.

What does “native” mean in bbport?
bbport targets Bloodborne version 1.09 for Linux. According to its project repository, the game’s x86-64 CPU code runs directly on the PC processor without instruction translation. The project also supplies a purpose-built runtime that implements selected PS4 system functions the game calls.

The project is designed around one game rather than general PS4 compatibility. Its repository describes splitting graphics command decoding and draw recording across threads. That architecture and the term “native” describe how it is built; neither establishes how well it will run on a particular Steam Deck.
What did the Steam Deck test find?
In a report published October 6, 2026, Steam Deck HQ author Noah Kupetsky described bbport as experimental and playable. After trying a legally purchased and dumped copy, he reported considerable graphical artifacting and said the experience was not sufficiently better than emulation to recommend switching. Read that as the author’s judgment about the tested experience, not a universal verdict for every configuration.

The report does not establish a controlled, repeatable comparison across Deck models or matched settings. The sources available do not provide a verified bbport-versus-shadPS4 frame-rate figure, so there is no sound basis here for a global performance ranking or an FPS promise. Image stability, frame pacing, setup effort, and project changes can all affect an individual result.

Which settings does bbport recommend for Steam Deck?
In release notes dated October 3, 2026, the bbport project recommends using FSR 3 and 1280×720 output on Steam Deck. The notes say FSR 4.1.1 models are not included and claim that FSR 4.1.1 costs several milliseconds per frame on the Deck. These are project-published guidance and claims, not independent measurements of performance.
Valve lists 1280×800 as the Deck’s native display resolution and recommends support for either 1280×800 or 1280×720 where possible. That provides platform context for the project’s 720p recommendation; it does not validate bbport’s performance or mean the project has passed Valve’s compatibility review.
How does bbport compare with emulation?
The available evidence supports a practical, but limited, comparison: Kupetsky saw substantial artifacts in his bbport test and did not find the result compelling enough to replace emulation. It does not establish a winner for every user or configuration. Consider the options against the factors that matter to you:

- Setup and configuration: bbport is a one-game compatibility project; shadPS4 is a general PS4 emulator. The cited material does not quantify setup time or configuration difficulty for either route.
- Project maturity: shadPS4’s maintainers characterize the emulator as early in development and caution users: “shadPS4 is early in development, don’t expect a flawless experience.” That is a warning against treating emulation as a guaranteed seamless fallback.

What are the practical options?
Try bbport if you want to experiment
If you are comfortable with an actively developed, single-game project, use the project’s Steam Deck guidance as a starting point: FSR 3 and 1280×720 output. Treat the result as something to evaluate on your own device rather than assuming the “native” label guarantees stable graphics or a better experience.

Use shadPS4 with experimental expectations
Emulation remains an alternative, but shadPS4’s maintainers explicitly warn that it is early and may not be flawless. The cited hands-on report supports Kupetsky’s preference not to switch from emulation on his tested setup; it does not guarantee that emulation will be smooth for every Deck owner.
Play the PS4 version on PlayStation
Sony’s US PlayStation Store listing identifies Bloodborne as a PS4 game and lists digital editions. This is a PlayStation option, not a Steam Deck product, and the listing does not establish physical-disc availability from any retailer.
Why does “native” on Steam Deck need context?
Steam Deck uses SteamOS, and Valve says Windows-only games run through Proton, which uses the Windows executable and game data on the Deck’s Linux-based operating system. That is distinct from bbport’s approach of running Bloodborne’s CPU code directly while supplying a project runtime and a shadPS4-derived graphics path. Neither description alone tells you whether a particular game setup will be stable or worthwhile.
