Third-party status checks on October 4, 2026 did not indicate a broad Amazon outage at the times they were checked. IsDown reported normal operation at 1:12 PM UTC, with four user reports in the prior 24 hours; Downdetector UK showed no current problems. Those are monitoring and user-report signals—not an official Amazon confirmation—and they do not establish what is happening everywhere or at this moment.
Is Amazon down right now?
The available checks did not show a widespread Amazon outage at their check times on October 4, 2026. IsDown’s status page reported Amazon working normally at 1:12 PM UTC and listed four user reports in the preceding 24 hours. Downdetector UK displayed no current problems when checked that day.

These pages are third-party indicators, not official incident notices from Amazon. The IsDown timestamp is a snapshot, not a live guarantee, and the UK report does not establish conditions in other countries. A handful of reports also does not mean Amazon is down for everyone: an issue may affect one shopper, a particular feature, or a limited region.
How to tell whether the problem is widespread or specific to you
First identify what is failing. Amazon’s website, app, sign-in, search, checkout, and order or shipping information can behave differently. Check the status pages again for a newer signal, then compare the same task in the app and on the website. If one route works and the other does not, that can help narrow the symptom, but neither route is guaranteed to work during a disruption.
#1 Best Overall
- Your favorite music and content – Play music, audiobooks, and podcasts from Amazon Music, Apple Music, Spotify and others or via Bluetooth throughout your home.
- Alexa is happy to help – Ask Alexa for weather updates and to set hands-free timers, get answers to your questions and even hear jokes. Need a few extra minutes in the morning? Just tap your Echo Dot to snooze your alarm.
- Keep your home comfortable – Control compatible smart home devices with your voice and routines triggered by built-in motion or indoor temperature sensors. Create routines to automatically turn on lights when you walk into a room, or start a fan if the inside temperature goes above your comfort zone.
- Do more with device pairing – Fill your home with music using compatible Echo devices in different rooms, or create a home theatre system with Fire TV.
- Say goodbye to drop-offs and buffering - With eero Built-in, Echo Dot doubles as a mesh wifi extender, adding up to 1,000 sq. ft. of wifi coverage to your existing eero network.
- Sign-in: Note whether you can reach Amazon but cannot access your account.
- Checkout or payment: Check whether the issue occurs only when placing an order, rather than while browsing.
- App or website: Try the other route to see whether the problem is limited to one interface.
- Order or shipping details: If browsing works but an order-related feature does not, use Amazon’s customer-service route for account-specific help.
Do not treat an individual complaint or a small report count as confirmation of an outage. The October 4 IsDown count—four reports over 24 hours—describes reports on that platform, not the number of affected customers.
What to do if Amazon is not working
- Check again: Revisit the status indicators for a more recent update. A check from earlier in the day cannot settle whether a problem has since started or ended.
- Switch between the app and website: If one fails, try the other. This is a practical diagnostic step, not a promise that either will be available.
- Use Amazon’s official support page for orders and accounts: Go to the Amazon Customer Service Home Page for order, refund, digital-content, subscription, payment, and registered-device help. Amazon says customers can connect with an associate by chat or phone, and describes support as available 24/7.
- For an unresponsive Appstore app only: Amazon’s Appstore troubleshooting guidance recommends updating the app, force-stopping it, or clearing its cache. Those steps address the Appstore app; they do not diagnose or resolve every problem with Amazon’s retail site.
Amazon retail and AWS are separate status questions
A problem with shopping on Amazon is not automatically an AWS outage. AWS provides its own Service Health dashboard for public AWS service events; signed-in AWS customers can also view account-specific health information. That dashboard is for AWS services, not an official status page for amazon.com shopping.

In a statement dated March 11, 2026, Amazon Staff said of the incidents discussed there: “The incidents discussed were limited to Amazon’s retail store infrastructure and did not involve AWS.” That statement describes those March incidents only. It does not explain or rule out an Amazon retail issue in October.
What is known about an October 4 Amazon outage?
The available October 4 checks did not show a broad outage, and no official Amazon retail-status notice confirming a widespread incident or naming a cause was available for this update. The status conclusion is therefore limited to the time-stamped third-party checks above. It should not be read as proof that every Amazon feature was working for every customer.
