Will a 7,200mAh phone last longer?
It has more capacity available, but that is not a promise of a particular runtime or a guarantee that it will outlast every thinner phone. Screen size and brightness, chipset efficiency, software, mobile signal, and workload all affect how quickly a phone uses power. A large battery can provide extra reserve; the useful comparison is how long each model lasts under the same test conditions and the activities you care about.

For example, PhoneArena’s test table lists the nubia Z80 Ultra, with a 7,200mAh battery, at 10 hours 7 minutes of overall battery life. The page’s entry date is November 6, 2025, and it also lists separate web-browsing, video, and gaming results. Treat these as that outlet’s test results, not a forecast for every owner; check the current test-method description and device variant before relying on the figures. Manufacturer playback claims answer a different question. Samsung says the Galaxy S25 Edge offers up to 24 hours of video playback. That is Samsung’s stated maximum under its conditions—not an independent mixed-use result or a guarantee for a day of calls, navigation, browsing, and video. Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge specifications

How much heavier is a big-battery phone?
The physical difference can be substantial, but it depends on the models. nubia’s Global store listing for the Z80 Ultra gives a 7,200mAh battery and a weight of about 227g. Samsung’s US listing gives the Galaxy S25 Edge a typical 3,900mAh battery, a weight of 163g, and dimensions of 158.2 × 75.6 × 5.8mm. Weight is only one part of carrying comfort. Check thickness, width, camera bump, balance, case fit, and whether you often use the phone one-handed. A slim phone may feel easier to carry even if its battery lasts long enough for your routine; a heavier phone may be a reasonable trade if you spend long stretches away from power.

Are thin phones always short on battery?
No. Capacity and body thickness involve design trade-offs, but thin phones do not all make the same choices. TechRadar describes the Tecno Spark Slim with a 5,160mAh battery while discussing compromises among thickness, battery, and other features. Its comparison also reports just under 13 hours in its Galaxy S25 Edge testing and just over 10 hours for its iPhone Air testing. A separate TechRadar review lists the Motorola Edge 70 at 5.9mm thick and 159g, with a 4,800mAh cell. It is another example of a slim, light design with a relatively large stated capacity, not proof that all phones with those dimensions deliver similar endurance. TechRadar’s Motorola Edge 70 review
How to compare phones before choosing
- Compare independent endurance results. Prefer results from the same reviewer and protocol. Look separately at web browsing, video, gaming, standby, and mixed use rather than relying on one overall number.
- Check the physical specifications. Compare listed weight, thickness, and width, then consider the camera bump, balance, and case you will actually carry.
- Look at charging as well as capacity. Check wired and wireless charging, charging time, and whether a suitable charger is available to you. An external battery pack can help, but it adds weight and bulk.
- Evaluate the whole phone. Display, chipset, cameras, durability, software-support period, price, and regional warranty or service can matter as much as the battery.
- Match the choice to your day. Think about hours away from outlets, access to charging, and whether your heavier-use stretches involve navigation, video, or games.
There is no same-protocol test in the cited results directly comparing the listed Z80 Ultra with the S25 Edge, so their specifications do not support calculating an exact runtime gain from the capacity difference.

Should you get a thin phone or one with better battery life?
Lean toward the higher-capacity option if long days away from outlets, travel, navigation, or extended video and gaming make extra reserve useful—and its tested endurance justifies the added carrying weight. Prefer a thinner, lighter model if pocket comfort and light handling matter more, provided independent results show that it comfortably meets your needs.
