1Password can be worth paying for if you want encrypted vaults, cross-device autofill, secure sharing, and alerts in one service. Its published 2026 personal prices are $2.99 USD per month for Individual and $4.49 USD per month for Families, both with annual billing and eligible-new-customer promotional pricing for the first year. Whether the cost makes sense depends on the number of people who need access and whether the sharing and security features suit your needs.
How much does 1Password cost for individuals and families?
On its personal pricing page, 1Password displays these annual-billing rates in 2026:
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
| Plan | Displayed monthly price | Who it covers and what it adds |
|---|---|---|
| Individual | $2.99 USD per month, promotional first-year rate; displayed regular price $3.99 | One user |
| Families | $4.49 USD per month, promotional first-year rate; displayed regular price $5.99 | Up to five family members, shared vaults, and simple access controls |
The displayed promotional rates are for eligible new customers subscribing directly through 1Password.com and apply to the first year. App-store and third-party subscriptions are excluded. These are annual-billing prices shown as monthly equivalents, not month-to-month rates. Check the live pricing page before subscribing because offers and prices can change.
Both personal plans list password generation, autosave and autofill, secure sharing, cross-device access, and alerts for weak or compromised credentials. Families is the more relevant option when several members need shared access; Individual covers one person. The published feature lists do not establish that every feature works identically on every device or browser, so check the requirements for your setup.

What do 1Password’s business plans cost?
For organizations, 1Password’s business pricing page lists these annual-billing prices:
| Plan | Published price | Published scope |
|---|---|---|
| Teams Starter Pack | $24.95 USD per month | Up to 10 members; can add up to 10 additional seats at a per-seat price |
| Business | $8.99 USD per user per month | Business plan with additional identity-provider integrations, broader role-based vault sharing and permissions, Watchtower alerts, and more administration and reporting features |
These are vendor-published prices and plan descriptions. The right choice depends on an organization’s size and access-management needs; the published information alone does not establish which plan is more economical for a particular team.

How does 1Password protect your vault?
1Password describes stored data and vaults as end-to-end encrypted. Its account-security model pairs the account password with a unique Secret Key in what the company calls “Two-Key Derivation.” According to 1Password Support, the Secret Key adds 128 bits of entropy to the account password.

1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteThose are the vendor’s descriptions of its design, not an independent validation of the service. Encryption cannot make user error, a compromised device, or loss of account access impossible. The pages reviewed do not establish the scope, date, or results of a current independent security audit, so they do not support a claim that 1Password is more secure than every alternative.

How do passkeys and two-factor authentication work?
Storing and using passkeys
1Password says users can store and use passkeys on compatible sites and apps. That refers to using passkeys for other services; it is separate from using a passkey to unlock a 1Password account.
Unlocking an account with a passkey
The separate passkey product page marks passkey-based unlocking of a new Individual account as public beta. Beta status can change, so confirm availability and device requirements on the live page before relying on this sign-in method.

Adding a second factor
1Password Support says a FIDO U2F-compatible hardware security key, with YubiKey and Titan given as examples, can be used as a second factor. An authenticator app is an alternative. A hardware key is optional, not a required purchase or subscription component. Confirm compatibility with your devices and setup using the security-key guidance.

Will 1Password work with your devices and browsers?
Requirements vary by operating system, app feature, and browser. Check 1Password’s live system requirements before paying, particularly if your decision depends on autofill, passkeys, or a hardware-key workflow. Requirements change over time, and the vendor’s requirements page—not a general compatibility claim—is the best place to confirm a specific setup.
How does 1Password compare to competitors?
The available product and support pages explain 1Password’s offer, but they do not provide current competitor-by-competitor prices, feature tests, or independent usability and security results. That is not enough evidence to rank it against other password managers or call it the best.
For a useful comparison, check each service on the same points:
- Total cost after any introductory period, and whether billing is annual or monthly.
- Included users and the controls available for shared vaults.
- Operating-system and browser support, including the exact autofill and passkey workflows you use.
- Second-factor choices and account-recovery options.
- Independent security and usability evidence, with the date and scope of any audit or test.
Who is 1Password worth it for?
Individual is a plausible fit if you are the sole user and value cross-device password management, sharing, and Watchtower alerts enough to pay an annual subscription. Families is aimed at households that want up to five members, shared vaults, and basic access controls. For an organization, compare the published administration and permission features with its actual needs before choosing between business plans.
If price is your main concern, compare the recurring cost after the first-year promotion rather than judging by the introductory rate. If a particular device, browser, passkey, or security-key workflow is essential, confirm support and recovery options before moving important accounts into the service. The evidence reviewed here supports a description of 1Password’s published features and prices, not a hands-on verdict or an independent comparison.
