For a live IRL camera stream, IRL Pro is the phone-based option; OBS is the desktop production and encoding option. Neither is a universal winner, and the words “low-cost PC” are not enough to establish whether OBS can encode continuously: that depends on the computer’s CPU, graphics encoder, memory, operating system, sources and output settings. If by “24/7” you mean looping prerecorded video rather than broadcasting a live camera, that is a different workflow and does not require the same setup.
First decide what “24/7” means
Live camera or IRL footage
IRL Pro is an Android app for sending live video to a stream key. Its guide says it supports RTMP and SRT and sends over a single connection; it does not bond multiple connections. It is a mobile capture-and-encode path, not a desktop OBS substitute. See the IRL Pro broadcasting guide.

OBS is the desktop workflow for producing and encoding a stream. The YouTube setup process supplies an encoder server URL and stream key, but the available documentation does not establish what a particular low-cost PC can handle. Before choosing OBS for uninterrupted operation, identify the exact CPU, GPU or hardware encoder, memory, operating system, number and type of sources, resolution and frame rate.

Prerecorded video loop
A prerecorded loop is not a live phone-camera stream. YouTube Help lists a cloud-based 24/7 option for prerecorded video that does not require a dedicated PC. That is a separate use case; it does not establish that a cloud loop service can replace live IRL capture.

For a moving live stream from an Android phone, IRL Pro is the closer fit. For overlays, multiple desktop sources or a composed PC scene, OBS is the relevant workflow, provided the machine sustains the load. No reviewed evidence supplies an India-specific cost comparison or establishes a universal winner.
Set bitrate for the connection, not the plan cap
For mobile IRL streaming, Enhanced IRL’s guide recommends SRT over RTMP on a single SIM, starting at half the plan cap, walking the usual route to test coverage, and increasing bitrate only if the stream remains stable. That is the vendor’s guidance, not an India-wide carrier test. A plan cap is a service limit, not proof of usable upload speed on a particular Indian network.

For YouTube encoder ingest, the current YouTube settings guidance gives these H.264 and AV1/H.265 bitrate recommendations. They are encoder recommendations, not measured Indian connection results.

Choose a target your sustained upload can support, with headroom for variation. Run an upload-speed test and test at the intended output rate and time of day. For IRL Pro, walk the route you expect to use; a good result in one location does not establish coverage elsewhere. YouTube advises testing with audio and movement similar to the actual stream, then monitoring stream health.
Set up YouTube and the encoder
- Enable live streaming in YouTube Studio. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours, according to YouTube’s live-stream setup guidance. Do this before the planned broadcast.
- Create or open the live stream in YouTube Studio. Copy the server URL and stream key shown for the stream. Treat the key as a password: anyone who has it may be able to broadcast to your channel.
- Enter the ingest details in the encoder. Use the copied URL and key in IRL Pro or the desktop encoder. YouTube recommends RTMPS for secure ingest. Keep the key private and reset it if it is exposed.
- Choose output settings the connection and device can sustain. YouTube specifies constant bitrate (CBR), up to 60 fps, a recommended 2-second keyframe interval (do not exceed 4 seconds), and AAC or MP3 audio. Match resolution and frame rate to the content and encoder capacity rather than assuming a plan cap is available upload.
- Run a representative test and check stream health. Include audio and comparable motion, then inspect YouTube’s stream-health feedback before relying on a continuous broadcast.
Plan carefully for a 24-hour broadcast and its archive
YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours are automatically archived. That statement does not promise automatic archiving for one continuous 24-hour stream. If keeping a replay matters, consult YouTube’s current guidance for longer broadcasts and plan a way to preserve the content rather than assuming a single 24-hour stream will be archived automatically.

For a continuous live camera stream, also plan for the phone or PC to stay powered, the network to remain available, and the encoder to keep running. The available sources do not provide Indian mobile data prices, local power-reliability measurements or endurance results for either setup.
Troubleshooting common failures
- YouTube will not accept a live broadcast: If this is the first live stream, activation may still be pending for up to 24 hours. Check live eligibility and activation in YouTube Studio before troubleshooting the encoder.
- The stream disconnects while walking: A mobile plan cap does not guarantee usable upload along the route. Test the usual route, try the IRL Pro guide’s SRT recommendation for single-SIM use, and lower bitrate until the connection is stable.
- YouTube reports poor stream health or dropped frames: Test sustained upload at the chosen output rate, reduce bitrate or output demands if necessary, and use YouTube’s recommended CBR and keyframe settings. Re-test with representative movement and audio.
- OBS struggles or stops on the PC: The available evidence cannot diagnose an unspecified machine. Check CPU/GPU encoder load, memory use, source count, operating-system stability, thermals and power during a representative test; lower the scene or output load if the PC cannot sustain it.
- The encoder cannot connect: Verify the current stream URL and key in YouTube Studio and the encoder, confirm the key was not reset, and use the recommended secure RTMPS ingest where supported.
- You expect a 24-hour replay but do not see an archive: YouTube’s automatic-archive statement covers streams under 12 hours, not a single 24-hour broadcast. Check current YouTube preservation guidance for the longer stream.
