The right way to monitor a Facebook Page depends on what you want to catch: new posts or comments, changes to public Page information, or shifts in performance metrics. For activity your app is authorized to receive, Meta Webhooks can send event notifications for subscribed fields. Transparency information provides context you can inspect, but it is not a universal alert system or complete change log.
Choose what you mean by a Page change
These are separate monitoring needs, and one method does not cover all of them:
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
- New posts or comments: Look into permissioned Page API access and event notifications for supported fields.
- Public identity or management context: Inspect the Page’s transparency information when available.
- Performance metrics: Determine which Page insights you are authorized to access and how frequently the relevant metrics can be retrieved. The sources cited here do not establish specific current insights fields or alerting options.
Before choosing a tool, write down the exact Page, event or field, and alert you need. Then confirm that your account and application are authorized to access it.
How to monitor posts and comments with Meta Webhooks
Meta describes Webhooks as a way to receive HTTP notifications when subscribed fields change; its example includes a comment on a Facebook Page. That means notifications are tied to specific subscriptions, not a promise that every Page or field is readable. Review Meta’s current developer documentation for the API version, supported fields, permissions, Page authorization, and setup requirements before building against it. Meta for Developers: Webhooks

- Used Book in Good Condition
- Confirm access first. Check that you control the Page or otherwise have the authorization Meta requires, and verify the permissions and approval requirements that apply to your app and use case.
- Select the fields you actually need. For example, a comment-related event is different from monitoring Page profile details. Subscribe only to supported fields that serve your use case.
- Configure a webhook receiver. Your application needs an endpoint that can receive and process Meta’s notifications. Follow the current official setup and verification instructions; exact interface labels and requirements can vary by API version and app configuration.
- Subscribe and authorize the Page. Complete the current Meta flow for the relevant object and fields. Do not assume that creating an app alone grants access to a Page.
- Handle notifications reliably. Record the event and its receipt time, make processing safe to retry, and monitor your receiver for errors. If a notification is missed or your endpoint is unavailable, consult the current API documentation for the supported recovery or reconciliation options rather than assuming the webhook is a complete historical record.
- Recheck access over time. Review permissions, Page authorization, and supported fields when your app changes or Meta updates its platform requirements.
Meta’s 2018 announcement said future Pages API access would require Facebook approval, underscoring that access is permissioned rather than open to any app. That announcement is historical, not a complete statement of today’s approval process; confirm current requirements in Meta’s official developer documentation. How do I get notified when a Facebook Page posts?
If it is your Page, first check whether Meta’s current Page tools offer a notification setting that meets your need. For an application-based workflow, investigate the authorized Page API and Webhooks path, then confirm that a post-related field is currently supported for your permissions and Page. Webhooks can notify an app about subscribed changes; they do not establish that all Pages or post events are available to every developer.
If it is someone else’s Page, do not assume you can subscribe to its activity through an API or a monitoring service. Check Meta’s current access requirements and the service’s documented coverage. If access is unavailable, you may need to inspect the Page manually or use a service only after confirming its specific capabilities and terms.

Can I track changes to a Facebook Page’s public information?
Meta’s Page transparency announcement described country information for Page managers and, in a pilot, location information for certain high-reach Pages and Instagram accounts. These details can help provide context about a Page, but that announcement does not describe change alerts or a complete history of edits. Availability should not be assumed for every Page today. Meta Newsroom: Making Pages and Accounts More Transparent
For a specific public-information change, inspect the Page and its available transparency details, and keep your own dated records if you need to compare what you observe. A periodic screenshot can preserve a visual snapshot, but it cannot establish what changed between captures or guarantee that a particular Page element is publicly visible.
What to verify before using third-party monitoring software
Do not buy a monitoring service based on a general promise to “track Facebook.” Ask the provider for concrete answers to these questions:

- Which exact Page events, fields, or metrics are supported?
- Can it monitor Pages you do not administer, or must an authorized Page be connected?
- Does it send event-driven alerts, or does it check periodically?
- How are alerts delivered, and what happens if access is revoked or Meta changes its permissions?
- Which plan includes the specific Facebook coverage you need, and are there usage or retention limits?
Capabilities and platform terms can change. Verify current supported fields, authorization needs, alert delivery, and plan terms directly with the vendor; do not infer that a service has unrestricted access to public Pages.

Use screenshots for visual records, not as a substitute for event access
A screenshot can help you keep a dated visual record of a Page you can view, but it is not equivalent to a webhook. It captures a page at a point in time; it does not identify a new post as an event, provide Page insights, or guarantee that changes are detected between captures.
If you need screenshots in a separate audit or documentation workflow, ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. It can return a screenshot or PDF from a request, but do not treat it as a Facebook Page change-monitoring service or as a workaround for Meta permissions.

Troubleshooting monitoring that stops working
- No webhook arrives: Verify the endpoint, subscription, supported field, Page authorization, and permissions against Meta’s current developer documentation. Also check your receiver’s logs and availability.
- A Page or field is inaccessible: Confirm that your app and account satisfy current Meta access requirements. Do not assume another user’s Page can be monitored without authorization.
- Transparency details are missing: The 2020 announcement described disclosures and a pilot, not universal availability. Missing details do not by themselves mean the Page has no changes or that monitoring is broken.
- A vendor promises broad coverage but cannot name fields: Ask for the exact events, Page authorization model, alert method, and current plan terms before relying on it.
- A screenshot looks incomplete: A screenshot captures the page as rendered at capture time. Login walls, bot checks, loading behavior, and page changes can affect what is visible; screenshots do not replace an authorized event feed.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Facebook notify me whenever any Page changes?
The cited Meta materials do not establish a universal notification for every Page change. Webhooks are for changes to subscribed fields, subject to access and authorization.

Can I monitor a competitor’s Page with a webhook?
Do not assume so. Check Meta’s current authorization rules and confirm that the particular Page and fields are available to your app.
Are Page transparency details a change log?
No. Meta’s cited transparency announcement describes contextual disclosures, not a complete edit history or change-alert feature.
