Can PRISM Live Studio stream in the background?
PRISM documents background broadcasting on Android. Its instructions say to enable “Allow display over other apps” for background operation. The guide does not make background operation an uptime guarantee: Android may still stop an app, and heat, power, or connectivity problems can interrupt a long stream.

Can you resume the same YouTube live stream?
PRISM describes a way to resume a YouTube stream while the YouTube live session remains on air, rather than treating the device-side stop as the end of the session. PRISM’s guide says this resume feature is supported for channels with more than 50 subscribers. Check the guide and your channel’s eligibility before building a workflow around it: Ending Process of YouTube Streaming and Resuming YouTube Streams.
Resuming is a recovery option, not proof that a phone can encode and broadcast continuously for a full day. It does not prevent interruptions caused by a dead battery, lost network, app termination, or excessive heat.

What makes a phone a weak 24/7 encoder?
A phone doing continuous capture, effects, and streaming has to sustain a demanding workload while powered and connected. PRISM’s overheating guide explains that these tasks use device resources and recommends reducing heat-generating conditions. It also cautions that airflow from a cooling fan may be picked up by the stream. A cooling accessory may help with heat, but it does not validate a phone as a reliable 24/7 encoder. - Test with the same phone, charger, cooling arrangement, network, and app settings you intend to use.
- Check the stream periodically for heat, charging stability, audio problems, and connection drops.
- Decide in advance how to recover after a device or network interruption; a recovery feature cannot help if the phone has lost power or internet access.
Will YouTube archive a 24/7 livestream?
Do not rely on YouTube to preserve one continuous 24-hour broadcast. YouTube Help says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, while streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all; it recommends keeping a local recording as a backup. How to choose and test the phone workflow
- Choose for the input. If you need an external USB camera or capture card, start with CameraFi Live and verify compatibility with your exact phone and hardware. If Android background use and documented YouTube session resumption matter more, PRISM is the better-supported fit.
