Set the YouTube-facing title and thumbnail in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, not in IRL Pro. IRL Pro sends your broadcast feed; YouTube Studio controls the stream’s title, thumbnail, and other metadata. Connect the app to YouTube, start sending the feed, check the preview, then choose Go live in YouTube Studio.
Set the title and thumbnail in YouTube Studio
- Open Live Control Room. In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go live. Create a stream or select the scheduled stream you intend to use. YouTube’s encoder and live-stream settings guidance explains the available setup and editing paths.
- Enter the title. In the stream’s setup or details controls, enter the YouTube stream title and any other metadata you need. YouTube says metadata can be chosen when creating a stream, edited from stream settings, or set while scheduling.
- Add the thumbnail. Use the stream’s customization or thumbnail controls in Studio to upload or select a custom thumbnail. Google’s live-production guide describes a custom event thumbnail as a 16:9 image. It does not establish current file-size or resolution limits, so follow the limits shown in Studio when uploading.
- Save or confirm the stream details. If you are editing a scheduled stream, open its Manage/Edit controls and verify that the title and thumbnail fields you need are available before continuing.
Connect IRL Pro and start the broadcast
- In YouTube Studio, copy the stream connection information for the selected stream. Treat the stream key as a private credential: anyone who has it may be able to send a feed to your broadcast.
- In IRL Pro’s broadcast settings, choose a protocol supported by the app and enter YouTube’s destination or server URL and stream key. The IRL Pro guide documents destination/protocol setup; it does not document title or thumbnail editing in the app.
- Start sending the feed from IRL Pro. Wait for the incoming video preview in YouTube Live Control Room, check the image and audio, and then select Go live in YouTube to make the broadcast public or available according to its privacy setting.
YouTube recommends RTMPS, an encrypted extension of RTMP, when the encoder supports it. Choose RTMPS in IRL Pro if it is available for the selected YouTube connection. YouTube’s encoder guidance also notes that suitable encoder settings depend on resolution, frame rate, and codec; test the feed and monitor stream health rather than assuming one bitrate fits every setup.

What to do if the stream is already created or live
The documented YouTube paths support setting metadata during creation, editing stream settings, and changing details while scheduling. They do not guarantee that every field remains editable in every interface or after every encoder stream has gone live. For a scheduled stream, open its Manage/Edit controls and check the fields Studio exposes. If the stream is already live, check the current Live Control Room controls; do not assume the thumbnail or title can always be changed in that state.

The title and thumbnail are YouTube stream metadata, so manage them in Live Control Room.
