Welke camerafuncties moet je als eerste uitproberen?
Beide telefoons hebben een camera van 48 megapixel, maar dat cijfer vertelt niet hoe ze fotograferen. De iPhone 18 Pro heeft drie 48MP Fusion-camera’s en een variabel diafragma op de hoofdcamera. iPhone Duo heeft een 48MP Dual Fusion-camera met zoomopties van 0,5x, 1x en 2x in optische kwaliteit. De lenskeuze en bediening zijn dus minstens zo belangrijk als de resolutie.

iPhone 18 Pro: experimenteer met het diafragma
Apple zegt dat de hoofdcamera het diafragma automatisch kan aanpassen aan licht en scherptediepte. In de Camera-app kun je ook handmatig uit vier diafragma-instellingen kiezen. Probeer bij dezelfde scène verschillende instellingen en let op hoe de achtergrond en belichting eruitzien; het resultaat hangt af van de scène en de gekozen instelling. De achtercamera’s bieden volgens Apple tot 8x optische kwaliteitszoom.

Gebruik 0,5x voor een bredere kadrering, 1x als standaardbeeldhoek of 2x wanneer je het onderwerp dichter in beeld wilt brengen. Apple beschrijft het grote scherm als behulpzaam bij het fotograferen, maar er is geen onafhankelijke test beschikbaar die een verbetering van de foto’s aantoont. Probeer het toestel open en dicht te houden tijdens het kadreren om te zien welke houding voor jou werkt.

Gebruik de nieuwe textuur- en korrelinstellingen
Apple zegt dat deze instellingen beschikbaar zijn voor foto’s met iPhone 18 Pro en met de Ultra Wide-, Main- en Center Stage-camera’s van iPhone Duo. Als je ze gebruikt, vergelijk dan de bewerkte foto met het origineel voordat je een stijl voor een hele reeks beelden toepast.
Hoe haal je meer uit het open- en dichtgevouwen Duo?
iPhone Duo heeft volgens Apples internationale aankondiging een binnenscherm van 7,6 inch en een buitenscherm van 5,4 inch. Apple zegt dat iOS 27 is aangepast aan nieuwe houdingen en oriëntaties voor multitasking, apps, games en content. De precieze workflow is afhankelijk van de app; beschouw de mogelijkheden daarom als iets om zelf in je gebruik te verkennen, niet als een gegarandeerde functie van iedere app.
Met het toestel dicht
- Gebruik het buitenscherm voor een korte taak of wanneer je de telefoon compact wilt houden.
- Probeer op het buitenscherm dezelfde app of content te openen die je vaak onderweg gebruikt en kijk of de kleinere weergave voor die taak volstaat.
- Bij het fotograferen kun je gesloten gebruik testen als dat prettiger is voor vasthouden of kadreren.
Met het toestel open
- Open het toestel wanneer een app, game of video baat heeft bij de grotere weergave.
- Probeer een app in verschillende oriëntaties en kijk welke indeling de app zelf aanbiedt.
- Vergelijk open en gesloten gebruik voor terugkerende taken; Apple kondigt een aangepaste iOS-ervaring aan, maar claimt hier geen specifieke, universele multitaskingindeling voor alle apps.
Wat betekenen de prestatieclaims voor dagelijks gebruik?
Apple zegt dat iPhone Duo dezelfde A20 Pro-chip gebruikt als de iPhone 18 Pro-modellen. Volgens Apple levert Duo maximaal 35 procent betere sustained performance dan iPhone 17 Pro, 50 procent meer geheugenbandbreedte dan A19 Pro en een GPU die tot 40 procent sneller is dan de GPU in A19 Pro. Dit zijn Apples vergelijkingen uit 2026, geen onafhankelijke benchmarks of garantie voor een bepaalde app, game of gebruikssessie.

Gebruik deze cijfers daarom vooral als context voor Apples positionering van de chip. Ze vertellen op zichzelf niet hoe lang een toestel onder jouw omstandigheden een piekprestatie vasthoudt of hoe een specifieke app werkt.
Hoe moet je Apples batterij- en laadcijfers lezen?
Apples video-afspeelwaarden zijn maxima uit fabrikanttests, geen voorspelling van je dagelijkse gebruik. De schermkeuze bij Duo en de configuratie bij iPhone 18 Pro verschillen, dus de cijfers zijn niet rechtstreeks vergelijkbaar.

Apple noemt voor iPhone Duo ongeveer 50 procent laden in circa 20 minuten via de genoemde laadopstelling en circa 30 minuten draadloos met een MagSafe- of Qi2-lader. Voor iPhone 18 Pro noemt Apple ongeveer 50 procent in circa 15 minuten met de bekabelde opstelling uit de specificatievoetnoot, of circa 30 minuten draadloos. Laadtijden zijn afhankelijk van de gebruikte lader en omstandigheden; behandel ze niet als gegarandeerde tijden voor iedere laadbeurt.

Wat moet je controleren voor eSIM en Handoff?
Apple zegt dat iPhone Duo wereldwijd uitsluitend eSIM gebruikt. Apple vermeldt ondersteuning door meer dan 500 providers, maar dat betekent niet dat iedere provider of elk land het toestel ondersteunt. Controleer vóór overstappen bij je provider of eSIM voor jouw land en abonnement beschikbaar is.
Apple noemt daarnaast iPhone Handoff in iOS 27: bij ondersteunde providers kunnen twee iPhones met hetzelfde nummer afwisselend worden gebruikt. De providerondersteuning is een vereiste, dus controleer die voordat je op deze mogelijkheid rekent.

Apple positioneert Siri AI als onderdeel van iOS 27, met aangekondigde mogelijkheden zoals persoonlijke context, schermbewustzijn en Siri Camera. Apple zegt dat Siri AI bij introductie niet beschikbaar is in de EU op iOS, iPadOS en watchOS; functies die ervan afhankelijk zijn, zijn daar dan eveneens niet beschikbaar. Ga dus niet uit van dezelfde beschikbaarheid in iedere regio.

Apple beschrijft Apple Intelligence als gebruikmakend van verwerking op het apparaat en Private Cloud Compute. Dat is Apples eigen uitleg van de privacyarchitectuur, geen onafhankelijke privacy-audit.
Wanneer is iPhone Duo verkrijgbaar?
Apple noemt 23 oktober 2026 als de startdatum voor beschikbaarheid via Apple en geselecteerde providers en winkels. Die datum ligt na 7 oktober 2026, de datum waarop de productpagina is geraadpleegd. Beschouw het toestel daarom niet als al verkrijgbaar op basis van die aankondiging; Apple waarschuwt bovendien dat beschikbaarheid per partner kan verschillen.
Welke accessoires noemt Apple voor iPhone Duo?
Apple noemt een iPhone Duo Case met tweedelige bescherming en een iPhone Duo Folio met ingebouwde standaard. Volgens Apple ondersteunen beide MagSafe, Qi2 25W en Qi-gecertificeerde laders. Controleer bij aankoop dat een hoesje exact voor iPhone Duo is bedoeld en dat de gekozen lader aan je laadbehoefte voldoet.
