How much bigger is the Galaxy S25 Edge?
The Edge’s display measures 6.7 inches diagonally, compared with 6.3 inches for the iPhone 17. Samsung specifies a QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen with a 1–120Hz refresh rate; Apple specifies an OLED Super Retina XDR display with adaptive ProMotion up to 120Hz. The Edge offers more screen area by diagonal measurement, while the published specifications alone do not establish which screen looks brighter or better in everyday use.
The larger display comes in a taller and wider body: 158.2 × 75.6mm for the Edge versus 149.6 × 71.5mm for the iPhone. The Edge is nevertheless thinner at 5.8mm and lighter at 163g; the iPhone 17 is 7.95mm thick and weighs 177g. Samsung notes that its thickness measurement excludes the camera lenses.

Does the iPhone 17 have a better camera?
The listed rear-camera hardware differs: the iPhone 17 has a 48MP main camera and a 48MP ultrawide, while the Galaxy S25 Edge has a 200MP main camera with optical image stabilization, a 12MP ultrawide and 2x “optical quality” zoom from its main camera. The higher megapixel count does not, by itself, establish better photos. Sensor resolution and zoom descriptions are not substitutes for comparable photos taken in the same conditions.
Choose based on the kinds of shots and camera features you value, and look for side-by-side samples from a reliable test if image quality is the deciding factor. The specifications cited here do not establish a camera-quality winner.

Battery, charging and performance
Samsung lists a 3,900mAh typical battery capacity for the S25 Edge and says wired charging can reach 55% in around 30 minutes with a 25W adapter, sold separately. Apple’s cited iPhone 17 specification page does not state a comparable mAh capacity. These disclosures do not establish which phone lasts longer or charges faster in real-world use.
The phones use different chips: Apple lists the A19 for iPhone 17, while Samsung lists Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy. Manufacturer announcements describe their products positively, but they do not provide a head-to-head benchmark or sustained-performance comparison. A performance ranking would require comparable independent testing.

Is the Galaxy S25 Edge worth paying more for?
At the cited U.S. launch prices, the Edge’s premium buys a larger display, a thinner chassis and lower listed weight, plus its own camera configuration. The iPhone 17 costs less at launch and has a more compact footprint. Whether the added cost makes sense depends on your priorities and the prices available where you shop.

- Consider the iPhone 17 if you want the lower cited U.S. launch price, a 6.3-inch display and the Apple platform.
- Compare current offers at the same storage capacity before deciding; the launch-price gap may not match the gap you find today.
- If camera quality, battery life or speed is decisive, use independent comparisons under similar test conditions rather than treating megapixels, battery capacity or chip names as proof of a winner.
