What the chip comparison does—and does not—tell you
Apple lists an A18 chip in iPhone 16 and an A20 Pro in iPhone 18 Pro. The published core configurations also differ, as shown above. Those model names and specifications establish that the phones use different chips; they do not establish a particular percentage speed increase. No comparative benchmark results are available here, so a quantified performance claim would be unsupported.
What is known about the cameras
Apple’s September 9, 2026 launch announcement identifies a 48MP Fusion main camera with variable aperture for iPhone 18 Pro. The comparison material does not establish corresponding iPhone 16 camera details, so this information alone is not enough to make a complete camera-versus-camera assessment. Apple’s broader launch language about performance, battery life, and Siri AI is product-description copy, not independent comparative test evidence.

For a useful price comparison, match the phones by storage capacity and buying terms. Check the country, retailer, condition, unlocked or carrier-locked status, and whether the quoted amount includes trade-in value or carrier credits. Apple’s purchase page presents capacity options and carrier-offer contexts; promotional credits should not be mistaken for the phone’s outright price. Prices and availability can change.

Is the iPhone 18 Pro worth upgrading from iPhone 16?
The upgrade is easiest to justify if you specifically want the 18 Pro’s 120Hz ProMotion and Always-On display, larger screen, 256GB base capacity, or the announced variable-aperture main camera. The trade-off is a 41g increase in weight, and the U.S. starting price is $1,199.
If you are deciding based on speed, camera quality overall, battery life, or value, the specifications here do not provide enough evidence to quantify those differences or settle the choice. Check current condition-matched prices for both phones and consider whether the 18 Pro’s documented features matter to your use before paying the difference.
