The iPhone 15 is the better-equipped phone, with a 48MP main camera, Dynamic Island, a brighter display, A16 Bionic, and USB-C. The iPhone 14 can still make sense if a comparable listing costs meaningfully less and Lightning works for you. Since prices vary by market and seller, compare the same storage, condition, lock status, warranty, and return terms rather than relying on a universal price gap.
iPhone 14 vs iPhone 15: What are the main differences?
Both are 6.1-inch OLED iPhones with 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB storage options. The iPhone 15, introduced in 2023, is one generation newer than the iPhone 14, introduced in 2022. Apple’s published specifications show the main practical changes in the display, camera, chip, and charging/data connector.

Choose iPhone 15 if its newer features matter to you
- You want the 48MP main camera and its additional 2× framing option.
- You value Dynamic Island or the iPhone 15’s higher published display-brightness ratings.
- You prefer USB-C for cable sharing. Keep in mind that its wired data specification is USB 2, up to 480 Mb/s.
- You are comfortable paying the difference for a model introduced one year later with the A16 Bionic.
Choose iPhone 14 if the like-for-like deal is better
- A reputable seller offers it at a meaningfully lower price after you match storage, condition, and sales terms.
- Lightning fits your existing accessories and cable setup.
- You do not need the 15’s camera, display, or Dynamic Island changes.
There is no universally correct price gap: the right decision depends on the listings available in your market and the features you will actually use.

How should you compare the price difference?
Apple’s current US iPhone comparison page includes older models in its lineup, but it does not provide numeric current prices for the iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 in the retrieved information. A single dollar difference would therefore be misleading: prices and availability depend on country, seller, stock, storage, condition, carrier lock, warranty, return policy, and promotions.
- Match storage. Compare 128GB with 128GB, 256GB with 256GB, or 512GB with 512GB.
- Match condition. Do not compare a new phone with a used or refurbished one as if they were equivalent.
- Check lock status and seller terms. Verify whether the handset is carrier-locked, who is selling it, what warranty applies, and how long returns are allowed.
- Inspect used or refurbished listings. Check battery condition and confirm whether tax or fees are included in the displayed price.
- Account for promotions carefully. Confirm eligibility and the total cost; a carrier offer may depend on plan terms rather than being an unconditional handset discount.
Apple’s comparison page is specific to the US market. Check local listings and terms in your own country before deciding.

Is the iPhone 15 camera better than the iPhone 14 camera?
On paper, the iPhone 15 has the more capable main-camera specification: a 48MP sensor with 24MP and 48MP capture options, plus sensor-enabled 2× telephoto framing. The iPhone 14 has a 12MP main camera and 12MP ultra-wide camera. That difference gives the 15 more resolution and a useful framing option, but published megapixels alone do not establish which phone takes better photos in every lighting condition or scene.

Does iPhone 15 last longer on a charge?
Apple rates both phones for up to 20 hours of video playback. That is a manufacturer maximum rating, not an everyday-use guarantee, and it does not establish a battery-life advantage for the iPhone 15. Actual results vary with configuration, network, settings, and use.

What changes with USB-C on the iPhone 15?
The iPhone 15 replaces the iPhone 14’s Lightning connector with USB-C. Apple lists charging, DisplayPort, and USB 2 data up to 480 Mb/s for the iPhone 15. USB-C can make cable sharing simpler if you already use USB-C devices, but it does not make this model a high-speed wired-data phone. You may need a suitable cable for your setup; whether you do depends on the cables and accessories you already own.
Are the iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 the same size?
Both have 6.1-inch OLED displays, and their dimensions are close: the iPhone 14 is 146.7 mm tall and weighs 172 g; the iPhone 15 is 147.6 mm tall and weighs 171 g. The difference is minor rather than a substantial change in size or weight.

What does the water-resistance rating mean?
Apple lists both models as IP68, tested under IEC 60529 to a maximum depth of 6 metres for up to 30 minutes. That controlled-test rating does not mean either phone is waterproof. Apple cautions that resistance can diminish with normal wear, so treat the rating as limited protection rather than permanent insurance against liquid damage.
