The iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max share Apple’s A16 Bionic chip and listed Pro camera system. The main differences are screen size and Apple’s video-playback rating: the Pro has a 6.1-inch display and is rated for up to 23 hours, while the Pro Max has a 6.7-inch display and is rated for up to 29 hours. The Pro Max also launched at a higher price in Canada in 2022.

| Canadian launch price before trade-in | CAD $1,399 | CAD $1,549 |
Apple lists the same chip and Pro camera system for both models, so these specifications do not establish a camera or processing advantage for either size. The display and battery rating are the clearest differences.

How the screen and playback ratings differ
The Pro Max’s 6.7-inch screen offers more viewing area than the Pro’s 6.1-inch display. That can make the larger model a better fit for someone who prefers a larger screen; the smaller model is the more compact choice. Which one feels better to hold is a personal preference, not something the specification figures can settle.
Apple rates video playback at up to 23 hours for iPhone 14 Pro and up to 29 hours for iPhone 14 Pro Max. These are manufacturer ratings, not guarantees of everyday runtime. Apple notes that actual results vary with use, settings and network conditions. The rating gives the Pro Max the higher stated playback figure, but it does not predict precisely how long a particular phone will last between charges.
#1 Best Overall
- 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display featuring Always-On & ProMotion.
How much more did the Pro Max cost?
At launch in Canada on September 7, 2022, Apple listed iPhone 14 Pro at CAD $1,399 and iPhone 14 Pro Max at CAD $1,549, before trade-in. That made the Pro Max CAD $150 more at that time. These are historical Canadian launch prices, not current prices. Used, refurbished, reseller and carrier offers depend on market, condition and terms, and are not established by those launch figures.
Which iPhone 14 Pro should you choose?
- Choose iPhone 14 Pro if you want the 6.1-inch display and prefer the more compact option.
- Choose iPhone 14 Pro Max if you want a 6.7-inch display or place more weight on Apple’s higher video-playback rating.
Both were introduced in 2022 and use the A16 Bionic platform. The listed rear camera system is the same, so the choice between them is chiefly about size and the higher playback rating—not a listed camera-system difference.

What comes in the box?
Apple lists a USB-C to Lightning cable in the box, but no power adapter. Apple’s fast-charging note refers to using a 20W-or-higher adapter, sold separately; you may already have a compatible adapter. Cases are model-specific: check that a case is made for the 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro or the 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max before buying.
