The iPhone 18 Pro is a substantial hardware upgrade over the iPhone 13 Pro, with a brighter 6.3-inch display, a newer processor, a 48MP camera system with variable aperture and 4x telephoto, USB-C, and a higher Apple-stated video-playback maximum. Apple’s U.S. starting price is $1,199. A reliable current price difference cannot be stated without a comparable, up-to-date local price for an iPhone 13 Pro in similar condition and storage.
iPhone 13 Pro vs iPhone 18 Pro specs
The figures below are Apple-published specifications. Battery playback times are manufacturer-stated maximums, not guaranteed everyday runtime or results from an independent head-to-head test.

What changes most in everyday use?
Display: a modest size increase, a larger brightness gap outdoors
Both phones use OLED displays with ProMotion refresh rates up to 120Hz, and both are listed at 460 pixels per inch. The iPhone 18 Pro’s screen measures 6.3 inches rather than 6.1 inches. Its published peak brightness is also higher: 1,600 nits for HDR and 3,000 nits outdoors, compared with 1,200 nits for HDR on the iPhone 13 Pro. Apple lists typical brightness at 1,000 nits for both. These are specification claims, not a guarantee of identical visibility in every lighting condition.

Cameras: higher resolution and a longer telephoto reach
The iPhone 13 Pro has three 12MP rear cameras and 3x optical zoom in. The iPhone 18 Pro moves to a 48MP camera system, including a variable-aperture main camera, a 48MP ultrawide and a 48MP 4x telephoto camera. Apple also specifies 8x optical-quality telephoto framing for the newer model. These specifications describe a meaningful hardware change, but they do not by themselves establish how two phones compare in a particular photo or video situation.
Battery: compare Apple’s test maximums, not a promise of runtime
Apple lists up to 22 hours of video playback for iPhone 13 Pro and up to 36 hours for iPhone 18 Pro. Treat these as maximums under Apple’s testing conditions rather than expected personal screen time. Apple notes that its iPhone 13 Pro battery testing used preproduction units and software in August 2021; consult each model’s technical-specification notes for its test qualifications.

Connector: Lightning becomes USB-C
The iPhone 13 Pro uses Lightning, while the iPhone 18 Pro uses USB-C. If you rely on Lightning cables or accessories, switching phones may change what you can plug in directly; check the connector requirements of the accessories you intend to keep using.
What is the iPhone 18 Pro price, and what is the current price difference?
Apple’s September 9, 2026 U.S. announcement says the iPhone 18 Pro starts at $1,199, or $49.95 per month for 24 months. The announced storage capacities are 256GB, 512GB, 1TB and 2TB. Apple reported that preorders would begin September 12, 2026, with availability starting September 18, 2026. These are U.S. launch details; they are not a universal price or a guarantee of current stock or offers.

The cited sources do not establish an October 2026 price for an iPhone 13 Pro. Its current asking price depends on market, storage, condition, battery health, seller and whether the device is used or refurbished, so subtracting its original 2021 launch price from $1,199 would not give a valid current price difference. For a fair comparison, check current local offers for both phones at the same storage capacity, and compare condition and seller terms. Record the date and seller basis because listings and promotions can change.

- Keep your iPhone 13 Pro if it meets your needs and replacing it would not be justified by the newer phone’s camera, display, connector or battery-playback specifications.
- Consider a used or refurbished iPhone 13 Pro if its lower current local price matters more than the newer model’s hardware. Assess battery health, condition, storage and seller terms before comparing offers; the cited sources do not provide a current used-market survey.
- Choose the iPhone 18 Pro if its specified 48MP camera system, 4x telephoto hardware, brighter outdoor display or USB-C connector addresses a concrete need and its price fits your budget.
For either purchase, compare like-for-like storage and condition rather than relying on launch prices. Apple lists four capacities for the iPhone 18 Pro; the best value depends on the actual local offers available for the configurations you are considering.
Cases and accessories are model-specific
The phones differ in dimensions and camera hardware, so choose a case and screen protector explicitly labeled for the exact model. Apple’s announcement describes new MagSafe accessories and a coordinating iPhone 18 Pro case, but does not establish that an iPhone 13 Pro case fits the iPhone 18 Pro. Check compatibility on the product listing rather than assuming older accessories will fit.
