Click the picture you want to mirror.

Open the contextual Picture Format tab. Depending on your Word edition or context, it may appear as Picture Tools or Format.

In the Arrange group, select Rotate.

Choose Flip Horizontal.
The picture will appear as a left-to-right mirror image. Microsoft documents this workflow for desktop Word, including Word for Microsoft 365 and Word 2024, 2021, 2019, and 2016; the support page also lists Mac editions for several of these versions. Microsoft’s instructions for rotating or flipping an object in Word describe the ribbon commands.
Find the right flip command

| Flip Vertical | Turns the picture upside down. |
| Rotate Left 90° or Rotate Right 90° | Turns the picture by a quarter-turn; it does not mirror it. |
If Picture Format is missing
The format tab is contextual, so it appears when a picture is selected. Click the picture again and check the ribbon; Microsoft also notes that double-clicking the object may open its Format tab. Tab names can vary by Word edition.

Using Word for the web
The Microsoft support instructions establish the ribbon workflow for desktop Word but do not confirm whether the same flip command is available in Word for the web. If you are working in the web app and cannot find Flip Horizontal, opening the document in desktop Word is a practical next step; the cited instructions do not establish that this is required.
