InMotion is a strong business-hosting choice when support, migration help, NVMe storage, security controls, and a clear path to VPS or dedicated infrastructure matter more than the lowest renewal price. It is not automatically the cheapest host for a simple website. The sensible decision is to compare the complete first term with the renewal term, then match the plan to your traffic, workload, and need for isolation.
InMotion business hosting at a glance
| Question | Practical answer |
|---|---|
| Is InMotion good for business hosting? | Yes, particularly for small businesses, agencies, freelancers, and technical teams that want managed support, migration assistance, security tooling, and upgrade options. |
| What products are available? | Shared hosting, WordPress hosting, VPS, dedicated servers, and reseller hosting. |
| What is the main pricing warning? | Introductory prices can be substantially lower than renewal prices. Evaluate both before purchasing. |
| Can InMotion move an existing site? | InMotion advertises free website or cPanel migration. Eligibility depends on the product and the type of migration. |
| Is 99.99% uptime guaranteed on every plan? | No. InMotion displays a 99.99% uptime guarantee on qualifying plans, while TechRadar’s January 22, 2026 review says the shared-hosting offer does not quote an uptime guarantee. |
| Who gets the most value? | Businesses that value hands-on support and a managed growth path, rather than buyers choosing solely on the lowest long-term monthly price. |
The portfolio is broad enough to let a site start small and move to more isolated resources without changing provider. That continuity is useful for a brochure site that may later add a store, membership system, agency-managed client sites, or a demanding application.

What InMotion offers a business
InMotion’s business proposition combines conventional web hosting with operational help. The official pricing material highlights free migration, NVMe storage, security features, data-center choice, 24/7 human support, and a listed 99.99% uptime guarantee on qualifying plans. Those features address the practical concerns that usually make a hosting change risky: moving files and databases, keeping a site available, protecting accounts, and finding help when a configuration fails.

Shared and WordPress plans are the normal starting point for a small company website, portfolio, blog, or low-to-moderate traffic content site. Multiple customers share the underlying server, so the price is lower than VPS or dedicated hosting. The trade-off is less control over the server environment and less predictable isolation when a workload grows.

Managed VPS
A managed VPS gives a business dedicated virtual resources and a more controllable environment without the cost of a physical server. InMotion’s managed VPS plans include Launch Assist, which covers setup, optimization, and migration support. This is valuable when the site has outgrown shared hosting but the owner does not want to administer every server component alone.
Dedicated servers
Dedicated hosting reserves a physical server for one customer. It is the expensive end of the portfolio, but it provides the greatest resource isolation and room for sustained CPU, memory, storage, or traffic demands. Dedicated plans are more appropriate for high-volume stores, resource-heavy applications, regulated workloads with specific isolation requirements, or agencies operating many demanding sites.
Reseller and agency-oriented options
Reseller hosting and the separate Agency Partner Program address professionals who manage sites for clients. The agency route adds portfolio and client-account tools rather than simply providing a larger personal hosting account.

The most important cost question is not the headline monthly number. It is what the selected term costs now and what the same service costs when it renews. InMotion’s displayed introductory prices are promotional or term-dependent, and the renewal amount can be much higher.
| Product or configuration | Introductory price reported | Renewal price reported | Qualification |
|---|---|---|---|
| WP Pro | $11.49 per month | $25.49 per month | Figures shown on InMotion’s current pricing page; confirm the checkout term and current price before purchase. |
| Managed VPS, 4 vCPUs | $9.99 per month | $16.99 per month | TechRadar reported these prices for a three-year term in its January 22, 2026 review; pricing is volatile. |
| Managed VPS, 16 vCPUs | $44.99 per month | $111.99 per month | TechRadar reported these figures in the same January 22, 2026 review; verify current checkout pricing. |
| Dedicated hosting | Starting at $124.99 per month | Not stated | TechRadar reported the starting price on January 22, 2026; a current renewal figure was not stated. |
How to calculate the real cost
- Choose the exact product, resource tier, billing cycle, data-center option, and add-ons.
- Record the full amount charged for the introductory term, not just the advertised monthly equivalent.
- Record the renewal monthly rate and multiply it by the period you expect to keep the service.
- Add migration, backup, security, domain, or management charges that are not included in the displayed base price.
- Compare that total with an alternative host over the same number of months.
A three-year introductory VPS price can look exceptionally inexpensive when divided into a monthly figure, but the renewal rate determines the cost of keeping the server. For a business, switching costs, staff time, and possible downtime can matter as much as the nominal subscription difference, so include them in the decision rather than treating the first invoice as the whole price.
What to check at checkout
- The billing term that creates the displayed monthly equivalent.
- The exact renewal amount and renewal frequency.
- Whether backups, malware protection, or advanced support are included in the chosen plan.
- Whether a promotional discount applies only to the first term.
- Taxes, domain charges, and optional administration services.
Migration and onboarding: where InMotion can reduce switching risk
InMotion advertises free website or cPanel migration, but “free migration” is not a promise that every site can be moved in the same way. Eligibility depends on the product and migration type. A standard cPanel transfer is usually more straightforward than a site spread across custom server scripts, proprietary control panels, external databases, or unusual DNS arrangements.
Prepare before requesting a transfer
- Make a verified backup of files, databases, mailboxes, DNS records, and application configuration.
- List every domain, subdomain, cron job, PHP version, database, SSL certificate, and third-party integration.
- Confirm whether email is hosted with the current provider or a separate service.
- Lower DNS time-to-live values ahead of the cutover if you control the zone.
- Note the current PHP, database, and application versions so differences can be checked after the move.
Typical migration sequence
- Purchase the destination plan and request migration through the support or migration process for that product.
- Provide the current hosting credentials or cPanel transfer details requested by InMotion.
- Let the support team copy the site and databases to a temporary or destination environment.
- Test the site using a preview method, temporary URL, or hosts-file entry before changing DNS.
- Check forms, logins, shopping-cart functions, media, redirects, scheduled tasks, and outbound email.
- Change DNS only after the destination behaves correctly, then keep the old account available until propagation and final verification are complete.
Managed VPS customers receive Launch Assist for setup, optimization, and migration support. That makes the VPS route more approachable for a technical small business that needs additional resources but does not want a completely self-directed server deployment. Confirm the exact scope before ordering, especially if the migration involves a non-cPanel platform or a custom application.

Uptime and reliability: read the guarantee by plan
InMotion advertises a 99.99% uptime guarantee and security monitoring on qualifying plans. The qualification matters: the guarantee should be treated as a plan-specific promise with its own terms, exclusions, and remedy rather than as a universal statement about every InMotion product.
TechRadar’s January 22, 2026 review specifically says the shared-hosting offering does not quote an uptime guarantee. Therefore, do not copy the 99.99% figure into a shared-hosting comparison unless the current shared plan’s terms explicitly provide it. A marketing guarantee is also different from an independently measured uptime result; the available evidence does not establish a measured result for your particular site.
Questions to ask before relying on an uptime promise
- Does the guarantee apply to the exact product, data center, and billing plan?
- What outages are excluded, such as maintenance, application errors, DNS failures, or customer-caused incidents?
- Is compensation a service credit, and what evidence or claim window is required?
- Are backups and restoration covered separately from network or power availability?
For a business that cannot tolerate a single provider outage, add independent monitoring, tested backups, and a recovery plan. Those controls remain necessary even when a host advertises a high availability percentage.
Performance and security features that matter to business sites
NVMe storage is one of InMotion’s prominent performance features. NVMe drives can reduce storage latency compared with older SATA-based disks, helping file-heavy sites, database queries, and application workloads. Actual page speed still depends on the site’s code, caching, media, database design, traffic pattern, and selected plan; storage technology alone does not guarantee a particular loading time.
Recommended Free Tools
The business feature set also highlights free SSL, malware protection, DDoS protection, a web firewall, backups, and security monitoring. These layers address different risks:
- SSL: encrypts browser-to-site traffic and supports HTTPS.
- Web firewall: filters classes of malicious web requests before they reach the application.
- Malware monitoring or protection: helps identify or block suspicious files and activity, subject to the plan’s exact scope.
- DDoS protection: helps absorb or filter traffic floods, but cannot correct an insecure application or compromised administrator account.
- Backups: provide a recovery source; they are useful only if retention, frequency, and restoration procedures meet the site’s needs.
Ask what each feature includes on the chosen plan. “Backups included” does not automatically mean a long retention period, point-in-time restoration, or an independent copy that remains available after an account is deleted. A business should still keep a separate backup of critical data.
Which InMotion plan fits a particular business?
Small brochure site or local business
Shared or WordPress hosting is usually sufficient for a site with a few informational pages, a contact form, occasional blog posts, and modest traffic. Prioritize an easy control panel, SSL, backups, support access, and a migration path. Paying for a VPS before the site needs isolated resources adds cost and administrative complexity without a clear benefit.

Growing content site or online service
Consider managed VPS when traffic is becoming less predictable, background jobs consume CPU, the database needs more memory, or neighboring shared accounts create performance uncertainty. The decision should be based on observed resource use and operational requirements, not on the word “business” in the plan name.

Online store or high-traffic application
A store with simultaneous shoppers, inventory operations, payment callbacks, search indexing, and scheduled imports benefits from more predictable resources. A managed VPS may be the appropriate intermediate step; dedicated hosting becomes more compelling when sustained load, isolation, or custom server configuration justifies the higher cost. Test the application’s compatibility with the available software stack before moving.
Freelancer managing several client sites
Reseller or agency-oriented options can simplify account separation and billing. Decide whether each client should own the account, whether you need white-label presentation, and how access will be transferred if the client leaves. Those governance questions are as important as disk space.
Technical team needing maximum control
A dedicated server offers the greatest isolation and configuration freedom in this portfolio, but it also makes the customer more responsible for capacity planning, patching decisions, deployment practices, and recovery testing. Choose it because the workload requires dedicated resources, not simply because it sounds faster.
Agency Partner Program: a separate route for client portfolios
InMotion’s Agency Partner Program is designed for agencies managing multiple client sites rather than people seeking a one-off referral coupon. The official agency material describes portfolio management through WebPro, free migrations, up to 25% discounts on new and renewing client plans, and 8% to 12% commissions on new-client purchases. The agency announcement dated May 19, 2026 says the program is not designed for one-off referrals or coupon-driven activity.
For an agency, the operational details matter more than a headline discount. Evaluate:
- Whether WebPro gives your team the portfolio visibility and client-account controls you need.
- Whether client accounts remain owned by the client or are held under the agency’s master relationship.
- Whether white-label hosting is available on the managed VPS and dedicated plans you are considering.
- How migrations are scheduled and who approves DNS changes.
- How discounts apply to both new and renewing plans.
- How commissions are attributed, when they are paid, and which clients qualify.
Discount and commission rates, attribution rules, and eligibility can change. Verify the current partner portal and terms before presenting a financial projection to a client or building them into your agency pricing.

How InMotion compares with cheaper hosts
A lower advertised price can be the right choice for a small, low-risk site, but price alone does not compare equivalent services. Use the same checklist for InMotion and any alternative:
| Comparison area | What to examine | Why it changes the decision |
|---|---|---|
| Total cost | First-term charge, renewal rate, billing term, taxes, and add-ons. | A cheap introduction can become expensive over several renewal cycles. |
| Resources | CPU allocation, RAM, storage type, bandwidth policy, and process limits. | Two plans with similar storage can behave very differently under application load. |
| Isolation | Shared, managed VPS, or dedicated architecture. | Isolation affects consistency, security boundaries, and configuration control. |
| Migration | Included transfer scope, cPanel support, and hands-on onboarding. | Support can reduce labor and downtime during a move. |
| Reliability | Plan-specific uptime language, exclusions, monitoring, and service-credit terms. | A guarantee is meaningful only when its scope matches your plan and expectations. |
| Security and recovery | SSL, firewall, malware and DDoS protection, backup frequency, retention, and restore process. | Missing recovery controls can cost more than a higher monthly fee. |
| Support | 24/7 human access, channels, escalation, and managed-service boundaries. | Fast assistance matters when a business site or checkout is unavailable. |
| Geography | Available data centers and the location of your visitors. | Distance and regional requirements can affect latency and compliance planning. |
| Agency operations | WebPro, white-label options, client ownership, account separation, and partner terms. | Multi-client work requires governance features that a personal hosting account may lack. |
InMotion’s value is strongest when several of these services are useful at once. If you need only a basic site with minimal support and are comfortable handling migrations and backups yourself, a cheaper host may be more economical.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Support and day-to-day administration
24/7 human support is a prominent part of InMotion’s business positioning. The practical value depends on the issue: support can be particularly helpful for account setup, migration coordination, DNS changes, and managed VPS configuration. It does not replace an application’s developer, and it should not be assumed to include custom coding, an unlimited backup guarantee, or complete responsibility for a customer’s security practices.
Before committing a production site, document who controls the registrar, DNS, hosting account, application administrator, payment gateway, and backup credentials. Use separate administrator accounts, enable strong authentication where available, and keep an emergency contact and recovery procedure outside the hosting account.
Common pitfalls and how to avoid them
Choosing by the promotional monthly number
Fix: record the full first-term charge and renewal amount before ordering. The WP Pro figures and the VPS examples show why the two numbers must be displayed together.
Assuming the uptime guarantee covers every product
Fix: read the current terms for the exact plan. The 99.99% language is qualified, and TechRadar reported no quoted guarantee for shared hosting.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsStarting a migration without an inventory
Fix: list databases, email, cron jobs, DNS records, integrations, and application versions before requesting the transfer.

- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
Treating a backup label as a complete disaster-recovery plan
Fix: verify retention and restoration, maintain an independent copy, and perform a test restore before the old host is cancelled.
Putting every client under one agency login
Fix: define account ownership, access levels, billing responsibility, and the exit process before onboarding the first client.
Buying dedicated hosting for prestige
Fix: measure resource use and operational requirements first. Dedicated servers cost more and demand more planning; isolation should solve a real workload problem.
A practical buying checklist
- Describe the site: brochure, WordPress content, store, application, or multi-client portfolio.
- Estimate current and peak traffic, database size, scheduled jobs, and storage growth.
- Choose the smallest architecture that provides adequate headroom: shared, WordPress, managed VPS, or dedicated.
- Compare the complete introductory term with at least one renewal period.
- Confirm migration eligibility and Launch Assist scope if moving to managed VPS.
- Check the exact backup, SSL, firewall, malware, DDoS, monitoring, and support inclusions.
- Select a data center close to the principal audience when the available locations support that choice.
- Plan DNS cutover, testing, rollback, and independent monitoring before the move.
- For an agency, confirm WebPro, white-label availability, client ownership, discounts, commissions, and current partner terms.
- Save the order summary and renewal terms so the business can budget for the second year.
Who should choose InMotion?
InMotion is a good fit for a small business that wants more guidance than a bare-bones host provides, an agency that needs multi-site tools and client management, or a technical team that wants a managed route from shared hosting to VPS and dedicated servers. The combination of migration help, NVMe storage, security features, data-center choice, and human support can justify a higher long-term price when those services reduce operational work.
It is a weaker fit for a buyer whose only requirement is the lowest recurring renewal cost for a simple, low-traffic site. That customer should compare equivalent resources, support, backups, and security at the renewal rate rather than selecting InMotion solely because of an introductory offer.
Independent user experiences can vary, and the available evidence does not establish a measured uptime result for an individual account. Treat the uptime language as plan-specific, verify volatile prices at checkout, and choose the architecture that matches the workload. On that basis, InMotion earns a top-pick recommendation for fit and support—not a claim that it is the cheapest host for every business.
